With the injuries and suspensions we have, I hope to see

    ................. De Gea

    Dalot - Varane - Lindelöf - Telles

    ............ Donny - Matic

    Sancho - Fernandes - Pogba

    ............... Ronaldo

Ole will be so terrified of losing, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t start McFred.
Yeah, I'm expecting McFred if our defence has no Maguire and Shaw along with AWB. Matic might play instead of one of them, but I really can't see him going with the more attack minded Pogba or VDB. It'll be two of Fred, McTominay or Matic to protect the weakened defence.

I’m so up for Wednesday already. Missed the first two home games of the season due to illness and holiday, so I’ve only witnessed the two 0-1s. Desperate for us to pick things up before the international break.

I think I would like to see Pogba deeper in our midfield against Villarreal, even if that is alongside two other midfielders. He can still operate from the left, but needs to be more of a left mid tucking inside, rather than as a forward. Telles can offer the width.

That a predicted line-up or suggested?

McTominay & Pogba midfield is suicide. McTominay hides all game & has no defensive attributes other than height. Pogba won't run the game defensively either. Greenwood & Lingard don't pass the ball often in attacking areas so Ronaldo will cut a frustrated figure and end up dropping deep again. Yikes.
Last game, that was. Not every game.

If we go 1-0 up I think we could be ok. 1-0 down we could be fecked.

If Ole does that, then we deserve to lose. I don't know what point he is trying to make, but that will backfire as badly as some of the stuff that Jose did right before he got sacked.

It doesn't matter who the opposition for this game is. We need 12 points to win this group so it is a must win game, its that simple. If we don't win, even if we just draw, we are bottom of the group after 2 games, with 4 left to play.

Without half of the 1st choice back four I think we’ll genuinely struggle. That 1st poor result has really cocked up what was meant to be an incredibly easy group and oiled pressure on us.

Sorry if there's a thread for this, but I couldn't see one - is the Everton game still scheduled for Saturday at 12.30? If so, what was the point of the announcement that no team playing in the CL on Wednesday nights would be moved to the early Saturday kick off for TV?

Whenever there is pressure on Ole, he delivers. 3-1 win for us, and hopefully another long winning streak!

We will not win this one. We are playing poorly at the time and I suspect Ole will play Mc Fred, Pogba left and Jesse right to pack the middle of the pitch with no width and help Villareal read our attacks.

Can't see us win this one, unless they have a sent off after 10 mins.

I also would start Telles to keep our balance on the left. Dalot can t cross with his left foot, and always cut inside so narrow our game.

More than incompetence, the mcfred obsession will cos him his job. But he turned many corners for a while before. So lets hope.

We really should be giving VDB his chance here. A slower tempo european night in a match where we will need to be able to keep possession.

Mctominay didn't look great last match, i'd like to see VDB/Fred or Matic alongside him again.

Losing Shaw will be a big miss, but then again he hasn't looked himself for a few matches either.

We have to win though, no excuses.

Villarreal have so far won one and drawn seven of their eight games this season. They've dropped points again sides near the bottom in La Liga, but have secured draws with Real Madrid, Atletico, Chelsea and Atalanta so far.

Not going to be an easy game.

Its one of those games, that you feel some clubs would come out and thrash them by 3-4 goals to correct last season's feck up. Almost like a statement.

But I feel we're on the opposite trajectory, which will just reinforce that the final wasn't a fluke.

Look at Villarreal's record. If you are expecting and judging United negatively for almost inevitably not putting four past Villarreal, then the problem is with you. Almost the worst thing United could do on Wednesday is try and force the scoring. That's been the problem in the last two matches. A bit more patience would be very welcome.

As it's the Wednesday late game, I won't be able to watch it, but the whole agenda is really rough and for the sake of our squad, I hope we fight for the 3 points with everything we have. Anything less leaves us in really hard position.

Wasn't it only for away games? Both are home games for us, so shouldn't really matter.

With the players we have, I should be exited for this. But I expect watching this game will feel more like hard work.

De Gea, Telles, Bailly, Varane, Lindelof, Dalot, McTominay, Fred, Pogba, Bruno, Ronaldo.

I'm expecting a 5 at the back I cannot lose formation from Ole.

If Maguire and Shaw are out we’ll probably see 5 at the back.

0 goals scored in 4 CL games between Manutd and Villarreal. Maybe one more traditional 0-0 in the most boring tie ever.

ManUtd vs Villarreal must be the most boring tie ever, I mean as a whole. 4 CL games and every game ended 0-0.

4 of their 6 league games this season have been 0-0.

    The masters of the draw.
This will be very difficult for us.
If we get a early goal it will open up, but given how difficult it is for us to open defence's at the moment I have a hard time seeing this happen.
