Harry's head impresses me. It's taking up half of the screen right now in his post-match interview. His parents must be so proud.

Why is it when players run it into the corner they almost never just smack it against their opponent's shins?

Doing that means you waste 20secs getting someone else up to take the throw etc?

Instead they always try and hold it in the corner, and lose it immediately.
    Zero street smartness.

I'd call them dumb, but i like them. Well, most of them.

3 shots in 120 minutes from Moyes’ boys. Why am I not surprised!

Not a great game, but we won so just happy to be still in the cup.

Need to play better to beat City though or hope someone else does the job.

He was poor in the first twenty minutes but grew into the game IMO. I thought he was slightly better than Maguire.
He got away with it a couple of times though, giving the ball away at dangerous moments. If West Ham hadn't been so bad it could have been very costly. Tbh though we're discussing a range of poor performances!

    Why?

Just because he didn't put an 18year old on for an important cup game?

Say he does play and makes a mistake and causes West Ham to score and it goes to penalties and we lose.

Everyone would be blaming Ole for putting an inexperienced player on and that he's a PE teacher and cannot get past the 5th round of the FA Cup and he's a bottler.

Let Ole manage the kid, he may be a potential superstar but the way this forum is acting is like he's the next Messi confirmed.
I can’t really be arsed to argue. Game was shocking, subbing on the kid for 15 minutes for Rashford wouldn’t have changed much. In fact he would likely have done more at that stage of the game compared to Rashford. The truth is every single game for Utd is high pressure, must win. A Utd manager has to be prepared to take risks especially with a young player. Won’t get a chance to use him now for a good while.

I'd forgotten til I saw that replay but that was a pen for handball if McT doesn't score was it?

Fred's going mad in the background
Whose hand was it? I couldn't catch any handball from the replay. See Fred going mad though

There was an extra sub in ET for the concussion
Explained incorrectly. Limit was 5, check the rules on the FA website.
United were given an extra sub too as a result, meaning both teams could make six changes.
And when the game went to extra time, both managers were given a further change to make, as is the case in cup competitions, making a total of seven possible substitutes from a bench of nine players.
As the FA explains: "Clubs are now able to name a maximum of nine substitutes of which five may be used. Teams are permitted a maximum of three opportunities (excluding half time) to make substitutions during normal time, and with the ability to carry over any unused substitutes and make a further substitution should the tie progress to extra time.

You are misreading what it says. The total subs excluding concussions is 5. The opportunity to make a further substitution applies if you used all 3 of your opportunities in regular time but made less than 5 subs, it does not mean you can make a 6th sub.

Nice assist by Marcus for the goal - well taken by MAcT. Lot of the players looked like they didn’t want to be there - or at least as if they were a bit cold and miserable

That was a tough watch so many wasted passes and slow play. Take the win and bet on a tough draw in the next round.
Well the odds do increase as City Tott Leicester amd Chelsea are all likely to be in there with us.

So a lot more chance of a tough game than not.

    You’re skipping the main paragraph

Where a team makes a concussion substitute, the opposing team receives an additional substitute and an additional substitution opportunity. This additional opportunity can only be used for the additional substitute and cannot be used for any normal substitute(s).

The rule specifically states that when a concussion sub is made the opposing team can also make an additional substitute at the same time. To take advantage of this we would have needed to make a sub at half time when Diop was subbed, we chose not to and therefore don't get an extra sub. The rule is designed to stop teams using the concussion sub after all their regular subs are gone to get an unfair advantage. The new rules are poorly worded but applied in this game we only had 5 subs available.

We made 6 subs vs Norwich last season. Copenhagen made 6 subs against us. Extra time has meant an additional sub in UEFA/English domestic comps since the start of last season.

Extra time plus their concussion sub meant we were allowed 7 subs. There’s absolutely nothing to suggest you have to make your bonus sub at the same time as the concussed player is subbed off for the opposition. Quite frankly that would have been ridiculous anyway. What if their concussion sub happened in the opening 20-30 minutes? That would either force us to make a very early sub for no real reason or concede the extra sub while your opponent still get their full quota of subs + 1. Not to mention it would be idiotic from a logistical point of view. Diop carried on playing a few minutes until half time, how on earth are we supposed to know he won't come out for the second half? Do we tell the ref to delay the kick off for a couple of minutes so we can make a sub of our own at the same time?

Concussion subs are a big incentive where you can take off an injured player with his/her welfare in mind without worrying about numerical disadvantages for your team. Last season Williams got a head injury which forced us down to 10 men and Soton got a late equaliser. Obviously not their fault we couldn't make further subs. With the concussion rules in play that game would have finished 11v11. Goes without saying that the other team get a bonus sub they can use whenever it suits them.

Article backing up the fact that we could have made 7 subs.
