West Ham United Football Club (nicknamed The Irons, The Hammers, and The Academy of Football) are a professional football club based in Upton Park, East London. They were founded in 1895 by foreman and local league referee Dave Taylor and owner Arnold Hills as Thames Ironworks F.C. - a strictly amateur football club with a team featuring a number of works employees. During the summer of 1898, Thames Ironworks F.C. became a professional outfit for the first time, to match their new status as members of the Southern League Second Division, and were promoted to the First Division at the first attempt following a decision to enlarge the top division of the Southern League to 19 teams. After growing disputes over the running and financing of the club in June 1900, Thames Ironworks F.C. resigned from the Southern League and were officially wound up. On 5 July 1900 they reformed under the new name of West Ham United and accepted an offer of the Southern League place left vacant by Thames Ironworks.

West Ham's most successful period started with the appointment of Ron Greenwood in 1961 - leading to FA Cup, League Cup and Cup Winners' Cup titles - with youth team graduates Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters at the forefront. Their nickname The Academy of Football pays homage to the club's proud tradition in English football for playing entertaining, attacking football - and the success of the club in coaching future greats - which includes that aforementioned trio of World Cup winners, Trevor Brooking, Paul Ince, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Jermaine Defoe and Michael Carrick. West Ham's most prominent rivals are local clubs Millwall (Dockers derby - one of the longest-standing and most bitter in English football), Chelsea (East versus West London rivalry), and Tottenham Hotspur (East versus North London derby). They played their home games at the now demolished Boleyn Ground (often referred to as Upton Park) from 1904 to 2016, and moved to the London Olympic Stadium at the start of the 2016/ 2017 League season.

If Bailly is fit, then he should start IMO. Not sure about who Ole will go with between Telles and Shaw, but fully expect Martial to start this one.

Henderson really could do with a performance of a lifetime here.

    I'd go:

    Henderson
    AWB Bailly Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Fred
    Greenwood Fernandes Rashford
    Martial

Surely VdB has to start this one?

    Henderson
    AWB - Bailly - Maguire - Telles
    McGoat - Donny
    Greenwood - Bruno - James
    Martial

Rest Bruno. Send Tuanzebe permanently to the U23s and Diallo the other way. Don't care about the rest of the team.

I’d say change the centre backs but looks like it’s as good as we have at the moment.
Henderson will be starting that’s a cert.

Will Lingard be able to play against us or not because of being on loan ?

Need to freshen up but that didn't work out too well against Sheffield United. Moyes with his side in decent form will be going with a full strength side with his eyes firmly on knocking Man United out.

Henderson is the cup keeper so will start and Ole should have the sense to give him a run of league starts. Hopefully Bailly is fit as he'll be needed against the pacey West Ham forward line.

Quarter final is penciled in for March 20th/21st which would mean if United win on Tuesday the League game away to Palace will have to be rescheduled, far from ideal when the league is more of priority than this Cup competition.

Still probably the best chance for a trophy this season, I think we'll still play a near enough full strength side. Martial for Cavani, Henderson for DDG, Telles maybe for Shaw.

I feel like we should rest the front 4 and midfield, with Pogba out McFred will need to play all the league games now so neither of them should start for sure. I'd give our two most exciting young prospects a game in this one.

This should be a big audition for Henderson given what De Gea did tonight.

If he comes through it comfortably give him the starting spot.

Can't see that at all. Mejbri won't even make the bench and with this being our likely best route to a trophy we aren't going to throw a complete young team out there.

    How come?
Just feel sickened by Everton. Everything feels quite anticlimactic tbh. We aren’t realistically going to win the FA Cup, you merely need to see our semi final record to know that. I’ve done my level best to be positive about United of late, but there’s a clear trend in terms of a downturn in our results.

WestHam are in decent form and will play a strong team. we will need a strong team out to win, 4 or 5 changes to rest a few but i doubt we will play the B team.

    eric in for Victor
    VDB in for pogba (McT)
    Telles in for shaw
    martial in for Edison
    James in for Greenwood.

    Soucek ban a bonus.
I’d be amazed if that isn’t rescinded by the time of the game - MOTD already started campaigning for that last night; throw-in that they’re playing United next then the FA won’t think twice about it.

Important to bounce back and get a win, albeit in the cup. I feel like the FA Cup should be high on our list this season as it looks like our title challenge has come too soon. A bit of rotation, with Bruno, Maguire and Greenwood keeping their place.

    Henderson
    Tuanzebe...Bailly...Maguire...Telles
    VDB..........Matic
    Greenwood.......Bruno.............James
    Martial
Hope Tuanzebe has a good game.

Strong with some rotating. Maybe Van de beek starting for Fred? FA Cup should be the priority for us at this point IMO. We need a trophy to give us belief for next season.

Fa Cup should be a major priority this season.
Get a top 3/4 finish and a cup would be a great confidence boost for United.

After seeing Diallo in the last couple of U23 games it would add a bit of excitement to see him getting some minutes on Tuesday, I know if he does well this place will get a bit giddy which in itself is a worry but a bit of positivity wouldn’t go amiss.

We are not winning the league this season, but I'd still consider winning the Europa league to be a higher priority than winning the FA cup. Having avoided major injury blows so far this season and EL games coming thick and fast, I would not lose much sleep if we are knocked out of the cup. The less intensity in the second half of the season, the better. Having to see Moyes smiling and smug at our expense would hurt of course but not for too long.
