When did he panic? Seen him do 2 excellent interceptions, 1 bad long pass, other than that pretty solid keeping it simple and no panicking what so ever. Maybe it’s just you looking for issues that just aren’t there.
He still doesn't look totally confident and looks a little tentative at times. A few of his headers have been wayward when it looked like finding a team mate was straight forward.

He has been better though and hopefully he gets back to his best for the remainder of the season.

As seen during quarantine what this team needs to gel it together is a false 9. Ronnie and cavani just havent got the top level link up play. If Martial was fit and mentally here I would put him up top.

Nullifying them, pressing well, getting into good spaces. But we're still so sloppy on the ball.

Such a frustrating first half. There were glimpses of craft in the first few minutes but in truth we’ve created nothing against a side we should be smashing. We may nick a goal in, but we may also walk out of this wondering how the feck it came to this.

If that's your criteria for a playmaker to have a good game then okay, he's been great.

He made 1 good cross to ronaldo and missed tons of passes by rushing things as usual, still the only player in the team capable of creating chances though
Bruno has been good today with his general play. He has mishit some passes but we should be grateful he hasn’t attempted those annoying random lobs into the box.

We have had control. Maguire frustrating just banging the ball wherever.

Should have had a penalty as well.

It was always going to be tight. Westham are what 4th or 5th.

I've watched Rice carefully that half, he has broken so much up and looks a real class act and a leader. He would be ideal for us, just a shame he is going to cost 100mill.

Clear control of the first half. Started to see some good signs of pressing and intensity. Definitely need to work out ways to create better chances though.

Rice would be an upgrade but i can’t shake the feeling that for £70-100m it wouldn’t be ‘worth’ it. Are there two players around Europe we could get for a similar outlay? Tielemans has 18 months left on his contract so could be had for a reasonable fee in the summer. Add in a DM from Europe and we would still have change.

The conversation when we got Maguire similarly compared him to Smalling. He may be better but £80m better?
Maybe, but 23, you should have near 10 years use out of him, has the physical profile for the PL, plays with authority, fills a role we don't have an option for outside of Matic, and has leadership qualities. Should fit in relatively seamlessly and with his England performances being solid, I don't see him being intimidated by the stage.

Big money but not a huge risk.

Maguire with his best performance since the Euro's is a good sign. He and Varane are by far our best central defensive pairing when on form.

Fred has been very good today; key to our dominance. McTominay has been fine, but sloppy passing - only 81% accuracy so far. Midfield has been fine.

The forwards need to offer a lot more than what they are.

This place is such a reactionary cesspool.

a very enjoyable game, against one of the toughest teams in the league (who are being very very solid), and yet theres wailing because were not 5-0 up and players arent scoring overheads and doing sombrero flicks (and thats just aimed at our Harry).

I have no idea why he drops deep. He has turning circle of a ship and he’s not particularly insightful with his passing
He only drops deep if he's getting no game near the area. Even happened in Madrid. Madrid did well most games and you barely saw him dropping in the last 2, 3 seasons, but some games he'd drop back to participate in the game and those would usually be the games where Madrid struggled a bit more.

Really enjoying this game, most in control we've looked for some time.

Dalot impressing at both ends, best player on the pitch so far.

Center backs composed in defense, but need to stop playing aimless hollywood passes.

Bruno getting on the ball a lot and less wastefully. McFred playing fine, not great.

Elanga looks sharp, hungry. Greenwood off the pace today.

Ronaldo dropping a little too deep - we've looked most threatening when he's turned and run in behind. If he won't, bring on Rashford to do it.

Is asking for more than 0 shots on target too much? At Old Trafford? How low are your standards?
of recent times? yeah compared to how we played against Villa and our last few home games we've been a lot more stable.

Obviously the attack needs to be better but it's not all about shots on goal. You're talking like Ole now.

Tight game that you feel will end up being settled by a mistake and a scrappy goal.

Even though they're ahead of us in the league, there's really very little to choose between these two quite similar sides.

There are slowly signs of us improving. It's depressing that us doing the basics well makes me happy at the moment but that's the level we have to build from.

Diogo Dalot has been good and looks to be quicker off the mark.

West Ham have set up to thwart in a low/mid block and we're lacking invention in the deeper midfield areas to link the midfield and attack.

He needs a good DM next to him and we will be solid in midfield.
I actually prefer his role right now as the sole DM. He is able to sit back and intercept while also being very mobile on the ball. Fred can harass higher up the pitch and Bruno can do Bruno.

We're controlling the game, but are toothless upfront. Our attackers aren't playing well. The defence and midfield have been fine. Our attacks break down in the final third.

I mean it was pretty tidy but ultimately very boring. No penetrative play from either side.

Add a fully fit Pogba in the positions some of our central midfielders were picking up today and we would’ve had a few more insightful through passes.
A fully fit Pogba?? That ain't happening at this club even if we pay him Saudi money a week. I swear the less he plays the better he becomes to some of you.

Yep, phenomenal reading of the game for someone so young. 100 million is too much, though

Well we have been solid defensivley which is a positive. Nothing new about struggling to break down a david moyes side.

More creativity in the middle maybe, V.D.B for Fred? Might open a few gaps in midifled offensively and defensivley which is the risk. Rashford for Elanga at some point probably aswell.

This team needs Pogba, Shaw and Sancho/Rashford so bad, the good versions of them anyway. This 11 out there is too limited offensively.

Ronaldo has zero presence up front so it's important to have as many creative players as we can. As it is we need him to bring people into the game and link play and he's been woeful at that lately. By having more creative players on the pitch we limit the burden on him.

Also, after having seen Dalot get a few games recently....are we actually sure this lad is any good on the ball?

I keep being told he's a much better attacking option than AWB, but again, nothing going forward at all today and nothing at all in midweek. In both games, we had 70% possession, yet I don't remember a single cross?

His attacking statistics are actually really poor, and I'm wondering, what evidence has there ever been he is some kind of great attacking full back?

If it were Harry Maguire wrapping his arms around Bowen or Fornals who were scurrying clear on goal, there would be a full-scale in quest now into refereeing standards.

Because it's Ronaldo the media simply say, 'get up and get on with it.'

It was soft, but it was an infringement and merited a pen.
