Insane cross by Eriksen and good header by Rashford! Deservedly ahead. Shaw looks like a man possessed and so does Martinez. Bruno and Ronaldo have been average at best. I have yet to see anything to convince me Elanga is not a Championship player.

Well we need to find a way, work a situation out wide with overlaps and get crosses into the box for Ronaldo/Rashford or cut backs.

"I don't trust ourselves to actually create chances so I'm just going to shoot from 25 yards every time I can when there's opposition players stood right in front of me" is an absolutely awful way for a top team to create a game of football.

These constant long range pot shots and short corners need to stop now, we'll be a better team for it.
the best way is patience and overlapping runs like shaw did with rashford earlier. we don’t do this enough, and never down the right side.

Not been close to our best and outright sloppy on the ball. Hopefully they'll come at us a bit more in the second half and leave themselves open to the counter.

Decent half for us. A bit sloppy at times, but we're clearly the better team here. The improvements in our team over the last few weeks is very obvious. Martinez, Eriksen, and Casemiro were excellent.

The main issues are our right channel. If we're going to concede, it's down that side. I understand Elanga playing to help down that channel, but he's been awful. Maguire has also been shaky. Hopefully we can score again to mostly put the game to bed.

The cross and header were equally as good. Lovely stuff.

And it came from a throw in too which up until this season we were so shit at.

Not doing bad in the build up but we're very lightweight up front. Rashford has been most lively and deserves the goal. Ronaldo and Elanga have done very little. Despite his poor form, I'd still want to see Sancho later in the second half, if only to let Rashford play central.

Based on this performance I don't think Southgate can consider Maguire as a starter. Just too hesitant.

The players sometimes look like they’re dying to revert back to dropping their heads for no good reason, but the difference now is they snap out of it and trust their quality.

Garnacho for Elanga seems to be what the Caf wants, but how does that work? Garnacho is a LW, and neither Ronaldo nor Rashford can really play RW

ronaldo is having a perfect good game
Disagree with that. He had a couple of good moments where he collected the ball and turned but was pretty below average in the rest.

Pressing is all over the place, many times a nicely setup 4v4 became a 4v3 because he just stopped running and closing off the passing angles.

Poor choices in a couple of dangerous moments (pass to Rashford, once when he was 1v1 on the byline) and a couple of mis-controls.

Rashford is the only one playing well rest have been poor to mediocre. Elanga needs to be subbed off.

West Ham has been pretty shit. Lost count how many times they have lost the ball under little pressure in dangerous areas

Maguire didn't do a whole lot wrong, but you can tell he's so much slower on the ball than Varane or Lindelof.
Two highly visible mistakes when he got caught off in the middle of the pitch with a poorly timed tackle and a whole lot of less visible stuff both on and off the ball. The team has been covering well for him though — Martinez, Dalot, Casemiro and even De Gea, surprisingly.

Decent half but should be more ahead given we have had about four counters. Bring on sancho for elanga.

What a phenomenal header by Rashford, who has looked our liveliest player this half.

Second half, we need to gain more control. I'd probably take Elanga off and get Fred on.

Our of all the modern celebrations, for me nothing beats Rashford's "YEEEEEESSSS :D" whenever he scores. The lad has fire in his belly, great to see.
I just love some emotional, collective celebration instead of those previous preparated ego-shows.

Thing is about Maguire, alright, he's slow and hasn't played much this season, but he's training with the squad. He should know his role and be able to execute it, to a greater or lesser extent. However, he looks like little boy lost, no clue what to do or where he's supposed to be.

I mean, Ronaldo may not be the player he was and doesn't have the pace he used to, but you can see he's trying to do what he's been coached to do in the system.

Elanga has hardly played and isn't that good, but he's pressed well and it's clear he knows his role.

Doesn't Maguire attend the coaching sessions, doesn't he train with the other defenders? Why doesn't he know what his role is? Even if he might not be able to do it that well, he must, at least, know what he's supposed to be doing, surely?

That cross from Eriksen was unreal, on the bounce like that. Brilliant header to match. Great goal.

Rashford is certainly getting more aggressive in front of the goal. He is slowly adopting #9 traits.

Maguire is just a big glaring hole next to Lisandro with an arm pointing out of it.

Have no clue why people hating Elanga.

Good half. West Ham haven't done anything. If the two left sided chances had fallen to Antony we'd be at least 2 up. Casemiro, Eriksen, Martinez and Shaw have been fantastic. The front four have some chemistry issues which, while disappointing, is to be expected.

The only nitpick I have is that Maguire is too slow, both in movement and in passing. He's done his bit in heading the ball out but when a team is relying on counters to score it'll always be a worry if they go up against him. Now that West Ham have to come forward hopefully we don't get caught on counters anymore.

This is still a tight game but our goal advantage and midfield quality should push us through.

Great to have that lead, but all in all a good notch below our standard of late. Ronaldo, Maguire, Elanga poor.

No disrespect to the lad, but Elanga is really not good enough at this level.

wish ronaldo would stop dropping deep. a few times we’ve looked to put crosses in and he’s jogging in from outside the box
