Glad to see a strong line up. We need some positive headlines, players need minutes after a long break and coming back from injury and we have little else to play for this season. FA Cup should be top priority now as its our last chance of winning anything and top 4 is pretty much out of reach now.

Didn’t realise this lot had such giant killing pedigree. I feel like we are due a proper low moment. Liverpool lost to Oldham 11 years ago. We’ve never really had a loss like that in the FA Cup.

Like who exactly? Amad is the only one but Antony also needs some confidence to save his United career. Amad will come on at some point 100%
Amad yes, Kambwala, perhaps Forson who could be given a reason to sign a new contract. Feck it put one or two of the promising ones from our u18 on the bench and give them taste of a real matchday experience.

Fully expected the strongest team. Hopefully for an actual comfortable game and not another poor one like against Wigan.

I think it could be favouritism but probably more likely Ten Hag being too stubborn to be proved wrong. He invested so much money in Antony and will keep playing him until he comes good. Which may of course never happen.
The more he plays Antony the more he is visibly proven wrong each time

Why Amad isn't given a chance to play? ETH is trying to justify why Antony was bought. Even if Antony have a great game, he will pretty much suck in the next EPL outing.

    Antony back in annoyingly
Diallo would be better as an impact sub here. Tackles will be flying in the first 20 minutes.

He hasn't had many minutes this season and while it looks an easy game on paper, Newport will see their best chance to come out flying in the first half and then hang on for anything they might get.

Makes sense not to throw in a player without much game time but keep them in reserve to take advantage of tired legs.

Last chance saloon for Antony. If he can’t pull himself together against Newport County, even for ETH that has to be it.

I hope he'll get a good amount of minutes. I think EtH tends to being players in slowly (rightly or wrongly). If Amad has what it takes then he'll eventually overtake Antony.

Full strength against bloody newport, typical.
We have like 17 games left this season, no point resting them. It’s already a severely weakened team amidst the worst injury crisis in club’s history, no point weakening it further by leaving players out.

You're right on the main point but I don't think the line-up is severely weakened. In fact, barring Antony, i'd say its maybe the best we can put out these days.

Bournemouth were a nothing side when we managed to lose to them in 84.
Granted that was a long time ago!

I was there on the day the champions-elect, with Best, Law, Charlton, Stiles, and Herd in the team got dumped out by (then) 3rd Division Norwich 1-2 at home.

Hopefully we get through today, would be absolutely gutted if somehow we bottle this. This is all we've got to play for this season and an outside chance of top 4.

Forest or Bristol in the next round. Not Forest again please!

My grandmother was a United fan and she used to watch all the matches swearing like a pirate. She passed away last week. This will be her first United game in heaven. Do not mess this up boys!

Just feel we’re going to slip up here. A gut feeling that yet again we’ll be a laughing stock.

Southend beat us one time I remember. Also lost to Championship Leeds at OT in the third round one year which was very annoying and embarrassing at the time.
