Bit of a Catch 22 - with injuries piling up and games coming thick and fast, we can't really afford to take further gambles with the likes of Martial and Shaw. But with so many key players missing various games through injuries and suspensions, then leaving available key ones on the bench makes the already weakened starting XI even weaker.

With Maguire and Fernandes available for this game, then I wouldn't rush back Shaw and would manage Martial (and Eriksen's) minutes by having them as a sub v Forest and then starting v Sevilla when there's no Fernandes.

    De Gea

    AWB
    Maguire
    Lindelof
    Malacia

    Casemiro
    Fernandes

    Antony
    Sabitzer
    Sancho

    Weghorst
Spot on, agree with you. Give Shaw that bit of extra recovery time and play him Thursday.

At least Bruno will finally get a rest midweek, so will be the one definitely fresh for the semi next weekend!

I hope there's no risks with Rashy either. I'd be inclined to keep him for the FA cup semi as well. Any earlier screams risky.

How has the Lingard signing worked out?
Has he started annoying forest fans yet ?
Nope - he’s been great to have around the place, gets involved in the charity stuff Forest do, helps the academy and kids. Forest do a bench cam during home games - Even when he’s injured he’s there supporting the team from the dugout. I just wish he’d had better luck with injuries on the pitch. I really don’t get the hate he gets.

The hate is mainly because he got pissy with us and was (probably) one of the leaks in the locker room after that. That and the fact that he simply wasn't really good enough but hung around forever. But i don't think anyone has said he's a prick and I'm pretty sure he was well liked within the squad.

Oh and you have the normal clowns that hate him because he likes fashion and shit.

I wonder if he'll play Shaw in the middle. Or is Malacia being dropped after mid-week?

In theory that team works, but when you write it down like that it looks fecked. Maybe you start Sabi instead of Eriksen, but don’t know if he plays deep or in the 10 position. Fairly confident Harry will play. Glad I’m not Erik.

No excuses for Casemiro, he must start every game until the end of the season. He can’t be tired after getting two vacations, and it’s not like he’s been injury prone for us.

Dalot: Because it is a game we have to dominate, and Dalot is better than AWB at attacking
The 3 other defenders: Because of injuries
Eriksen: We need him back in form, and this might be a good game to give him his first start again.
Elanga: We cannot risk losing Martial to injuries, when Rashford is out, and therefore he is going to start out. Weghorst is like playing with 10 men, so he has to start out no matter what.

Can't see Elanga starting. Also, would be harsh to take Sabitzer out of the starting line-up after a two goal performance.

It is seen before that a player is on the bench after a good performance - and we do have many games at the moment. Elanga started in that role against Arsenal many months ago, and I have only put in the starting 11, because I really hope that ETH can see that Weghorst is doing too little for the team. At least Elanga is fast.

Weghorst is a considerably better option than Elanga. It's not even close.

The only reason I worry about our defence is because our attack is so utterly toothless

    De Gea
    Dalot - Linde - Maguire - Malacia
    Casemiro - Eriksen
    Bruno
    Antony - Sabitzer - Martial

Good game for our new CB pairing to start with. Hopefully a comfortable win. We really need no further injuries this season (yes I'm looking at you Martial). Any more and we just might fall apart.

    [edit - incorrect post quoted]

Why? Have you seen Forest's form since their epic January window of Shelvey, Wood and Ayew? This is an easy three points even with the youth team.
    Easy 3 points for who?
    MUFC or NF?

It will be a slog tomorrow given the injury crisis we have.

3 of the back 4 injured and the main part of our spine, Martinez, missing.

I hope Ten Hag looks to adjust how we play and cuts the building from the back down or at least instructs Casemiro to drop in and help more with the distribution to give another option.

We are playing a team in relegation woefully out of form , if We need full strength team to perform well even in these sort of games then our we are in bigger trouble than I imagined .

Its not just about a full strength team though is it? It’s about having the working parts of a team to play the system.

3 of our back 4 tomorrow have been quality EPL players and have routinely beaten teams such as Forest for years now?
we aren’t the putting kids in
Edit Shaw is even in contention for tomorrow

This will possibly be ugly but aslong as we get the 3 points that's all that matters. Come on United.

I don't care if we play badly. Just please win this game United. Don't feck it up.

The attack need to turn up. Every single one of them. No bad decision making. No missing sitters. Score bleeding goals and give our makeshift defence a chance.

Always thought he was a good squad player for us. We could have sure used his old self off the bench against Sevilla instead of Wout or Elanga.

People's gripe was how often he started relative to his overall quality. Thing is, one of those qualities was he always showed up and worked his bollocks off for the team, so you can see what they (or ETH now) would have seen in him. Muppets wanted Sancho though, now they have him.

PS: I do by no means suggest we should have kept him, things had gone south with his attitude and all we had was an unhappy bellend stinking up the place.

Results have gone well for us so far this weekend with a CL spot in mind.
All we need to do is make sure we don't funk it up tomorrow :houllier:
