Playing a midfield of Schneiderlin and Carrick isn't exactly 'taking them for granted'. Playing any combination of the 3 is still an excellent cm duo.
Yeh well I have to say it makes a nice change having midfield options

I don't think Memphis should start this one, he has been on poor form and coming back to his old club I feel that he'd be too reckless in trying to prove himself worthy.

I'd go with the standard back line, a midfield trio of Carrick, Morgan and Herrera, and an attacking trio of Young, Mata and Rooney if fit, Martial if not.

Think normally Memphis would just be on the bench, but since it's PSV I can see him playing. Martial should start, since he's a striker and will be full of confidence. Herrera should be starting as well, probably will ahead of Memphis if anything on the right with Young left. Either way, think it'll be a good performance from us. Going for a 2-0 win.

Former PSV coach Aad de Mos reckons Santiago Arias will "eat Memphis Depay raw" in the UEFA Champions League.

PSV defender Santiago Arias will dominate Memphis Depay when Manchester United visit Netherlands on Tuesday, Dutch coach Aad de Mos has declared.

Depay will make his return to his only previous professional club in United's first group stage fixture of the 2015-16 UEFA Champions League, with the 21-year-old having led PSV to the Eredivisie title last term with 22 goals in 30 matches.

But De Mos, who coached PSV from 1993 to 1995 and has also had stints with Ajax, Anderlect, Werder Bremen and Vitesse, reckons the Netherlands international will find it tough against former team-mate Arias.

"Depay is not going to get one bit of joy out of his return to Holland," De Mos told Omroep Brabrant.

"Santiago Arias, the Colombian international defender who knows him inside out, is going to eat him raw.

"Honestly, I am 100 per cent sure that Arias will wipe him out."

PSV have started their Eredivisie defence with three wins and two draws from five matches including a 6-0 thumping of Cambuur on Saturday.

Like United, they sit second in the league standings and De Mos reckons Philip Cocu's men have what it takes to knock off Depay and Co.

United defeated Liverpool 3-1 on Saturday to sit five points adrift of Premier League leaders Manchester City after five rounds but De Mos believes Louis van Gaal's central defensive pairing of Daley Blind and Chris Smalling will come under increased pressure in Eindhoven.

"Smalling is regarded as a great defender, but he isn't the best on the ball," the 68-year-old said.

"PSV have worked it out, they are going to let Smalling have the ball all the time. They know he is limited in his ideas."

De Mos added: "And if Daley Blind thinks he can come and enjoy a bit of freedom, or dominate the game again, then he will soon realise all the PSV players are going to be after him. They will not leave him alone."
If Aad De Mos is saying Depay will struggle, we can be fairly certain he'll have a great game

Tough one for line-ups... Some form of 433.

    de Gea
    Back Four
    Two from Schweinsteiger/Schneiderlin/Carrick
    One from Mata/Herrera/Fellaini
    Young | Martial | Memphis

Memphis will probably keep his place due to this being against his old side and his good form in the Champion's League thus far. Mata may lose his to Young though. Herrera is probably favourite to keep the No.10 role after winning and scoring the penalty.

Could also go with Fellaini up front again, which may be more likely as this is an away game. Probably right in assuming that the 14 players mentioned will be the ones who play in the game, barring a defensive injury.

Gone for the same back 5, Schmidfield, Young in for Memphis and Martial up top.

It may well be against Memphis' former club, but we can't pick the team on sentimental reasons. He needs to sit a couple of games out and get back some motivation. His talent looks infinite, but he's not making the right decisions right now. His work rate has dwindled in the last couple of games as well.

He seems like a very emotional player. He really dwells on mistakes, gets frustrated quite easily it seems, and I think the emotion of returning home will just be a huge distraction. Maybe bring him on as a sub for the last 15 mins, but I think Young's experience, work rate and experience will be a much more suitable option.

Also, former PSV coach reckons they are going to target Smalling as the weak link.

“Smalling is regarded as a great defender, but he isn’t the best on the ball,” De Mos told Omroep Brabant.

“PSV have worked it out, they are going to let Smalling have the ball all the time. They know he is limited in his ideas.

“And if Daley Blind thinks he can come and enjoy a bit of freedom, or dominate the game again, then he will soon realise all the PSV players are going to be after him. They will not leave him alone.”

The game has provided Memphis Depay with a quick return to the club he left in a £25million deal in the summer, but De Mos has warned the Netherlands winger he is in for a tough time.

“Depay is not going to get one bit of joy out of his return to Holland,” De Mos added.

“Santiago Arias, the Mexican international defender who knows him inside out, is going to eat him raw.

“Honestly, I am 100 percent sure that Arias will wipe him out.”
Seems a bit weird to press one centre back but not the other. I can't remember ever seeing such a thing happen.

Bring Pereira on if things are going well (not sure if back/injured), bring Fellaini on if they aren't...

    Save Young/Schweinsteiger for Southampton.

    Schweinsteiger - Schneiderlein
    Young - Mata - Memphis
    Martial

For me that'd be the side.

Would love to see Martial start and deserves to but just can't see it, LVG is too stubborn.

They won their last game 6-0 but have been up and down a bit which is to be expected after losing Memphis and Wijnaldum
A complete fluke match against Cambuur. In the 7th minute PSV had a shot on goal, it touched someone's arm slightly (not even sure if on purpose) and he got sent off with a red card + pen, which was converted. Ridiculous decision imo. After that it was a walk in the park and PSV weren't threatened, Cambuur gave up after it become 0-3 quickly.

    Is Carrick injured?
I dont think he'll play tbh.
He was injured with england and was limping and looking a bit beat up before coming off against liverpool.
But with Rooney out, I guess van gaal will want to keep him in the team for experience.

LVG rested Carrick so he should start. Schweinsteiger played 90mn and should be tired, he's this kind of player so... I would go Carrick/Schneiderlin in the middle, Herrera in front.

Memphis upfront won't workout very well, this was already proven in previous games. RVP where are you?!? :)

Wonder if we'll see Memphis as a number 9 if Rooney isn't fit. Rather see him there than Fellaini anyway.

I don't really see why we wouldn't start Martial and let him use his momentum from Sunday but you never really know with van Gaal.

If Rooney aint available, just play Martial there or even Ashley Young would be a better player than Fellaini.
Fellaini is too slow, will be called a foul for his every touch and can't run anywhere. He has no ideas and is not a clever player to attempt anything.
