Just play a second team against them. Our away record vs Spanish teams is atrocious. It is harder to beat them with our tired first team. it is disastrous if we lose on Thursday and pick up further fatigue and injury, just for that small chance of skipping 2 games.

    I would love this lineup:

    Garnarcho Ronaldo Pellistri
    vdb McTominay Bruno
    Malacia Martinez Maguire Lindelof
    Dubravka

Everyone bar the CB get rested for Villa.

Need to beat those lucky gits. The ref robbed us blind against them with that BS pen.

Play as we did against Spurs and Chelsea and we're through. anything else and it's play-off squeaky bum time

problem is we might miss more than two games: such as the whole of the rest of the tournament. People seem to think Juve and Barca have suddenly turned into lower-half Championship sides, and we could easily be drawn against them of atletico (another Spanish side!)

Problem is that means there is a strong possibility we bump into any of the Champions League third places which wouldn't be good

I really want to see us win the competition but it's not the end of the world if we finish second in the group. The teams that already got knocked out of the champions league are here for a reason and it will make for an exciting tie at any rate.

That being said, a 2-0 win would be nice.
While I agree it would be an exciting tie, the one thing we don't need in this jam packed season is an extra 2 games, so going all out to top the group to avoid it is worth it.

problem is that if we want to win Europa, we need to face those teams anyway.
and the bigger problem is that I don't think it is likely for us to win by 2 goals or more this Thur given our poor record in Spain and how tired our first team squad is.

I expect a dull 0-0 at best. I agree with those who suggest we rest our key players as we are looking a bit knackered just now.

We won t win this one.

We never win against Spanish team, let alone an inform team.

They will have the ball and make us run.

Rotate a bit, we are close to the end of the PL and top 4, use the five subs against Sociedad.

Unfortunately the ref robbed us of much of a chance to come top. 2-0 away against this side is a really tough ask. I'd like us to play a weaker side as well, priority is beating Aston villa on Sunday. Going out in a two legged tie against Barcelona won't be the worst thing in the world either, as 3rd and 4th are very much for grabs.

People are bigging up Sociodad far too much. Decent enough side but nothing special. Lost their last 2 league games and we are playing much better.

I trust EtH to make the right call on what team we play and whether to put out a full strength XI.

I think all things considered we should freshen up the team a bit. Bruno can still play as he’s suspended for the Villa game. Garnacho deserves another start. They’re a difficult side to play against but no reason why we can’t get a 2-0 here.

The thing about Sociedad is that like us at the moment they dont score much so if we dont give them any excuse for shit penalties and the like I think we can do them. If ever there was a game for those floodgates to finally open I would love it to be this. Let the La Liga contingent fight it out in the qualifying round.

Think we might need some rotation in this one.

Casemiro and Eriksen were looking quite tired in the 2nd half against West Ham.

Fernandes is banned against Villa, so i'd probably go Mcfred + Fernandes. Might be tempted to give Shaw a rest too.

Depending on the fitness of Antony, I'd probably like to see Rashford/Ronaldo/Sancho as the front 3.

It'll be interesting to see how Sociedad face this match. Will they look to win it, or just cancel it out and hope for a draw?

Freshen the team up a bit but still go out to win.

Think we'll go quite strong. Bring on Malacia, Fred, McTominay etc. Just making a guess that Lindelof and Antony don't make it. Hopefully, Martial is on the bench.

Hopefully start fast and go for the win. I expect we will draw regardless, so rather we try to sub off Shaw, Eriksen, Rashford, Casemiro and Dalot either way.

Bruno misses Villa so should just play the 90 anyway.

Can't imagine Ronaldo starting 3 in a week, especially when we need a win and by 2 goals.

    De Gea
    Dalot Maguire Martinez Shaw
    Eriksen Casemiro
    Antony Bruno Sancho
    Rashford

Go full strength and attack from the off. An early goal for us will make them nervous, an early goal for them all but kills our chances.

A Spanish team in Spain after they already beat us at Old Trafford? And we must win by two goals to top the group?

Right. I can't wait to find which other Spanish team we face in the play-offs.

Will be very annoying if United win by a one goal margin and top of the table then basically decided on that dodgy penalty in Old Trafford.

    Hate VAR as well.
Yeah, it's all on the VAR to me. It's a bad call from the ref, but you can understand why watching it once at full speed, you could be forgiven for not seeing it hit the leg and then bouncing up to the arm.

With the VAR being able to watch it multiple times, from multiple angles, in slow motion, see as clear as day every which way what has actually happened, and STILL decide that's a pen is either the kind of gross incompetence that would see you sacked on the spot from any normal job or good old fashioned corruption.

Ronaldo, 3 games in a week? He would struggle in his prime, never mind at 37!

Why's everyone so down for this? We're playing well and they might even allow us to counter.

We're not the same team who should have drawn at home. I am going for 2-0 and we should go for it because we cannot finish 3rd.

Ole beat them 4-0 over there a couple years back. Ten Hag has got this
It was without the fans and it wasn’t at their stadium. The match was played in turin in Allianz arena i.e Juventus stadium.
