If Garner start, Garner need to impose himself strong on the game. If he's hiding, nervous and not calling for a pass, I think we are going to lose this game
He’s been calling for passes all the time when he has played.

Almost every game, except maybe 3 or 4 teams in this league, has the whole forum ‘unable to see how’ we could possibly win. Do you all expect Sheffield United to finish above us? Do you expect us to finish in the top 6? Where do you suspect these points will come from to finish top 6? Because it seemingly isn’t against any team we will play!

We have better footballers that Sheffield United. Significantly better even. I’m not saying I know what will happen, but it would not be seen as some sort of footballing upset if Manchester United beat Sheffield United.
Thank god for some of our fanbase retaining some sense of balance atleast ,it's Sheffield Wednesday not peak Barca for feck sake we may be poor but giving us no chance against team like Sheffield Wednesday it negativity for negativity sake nothing else.

Sheffield is higher in the league table and this team lost to teams like Bournemouth, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Newcastle for example... why are you so sure we will win this?
perhaps that’s just my mentality? I’ve been supporting Man Utd for very many a year already and somehow got accustomed to being sure in a win against the majority of the teams 3)

Yeah we should really win this game. Our strikers have shown some form finally and our defense should be good enough to stop them even without Mctominay. I guess our away form have been really terrible though. I was fully sure we would beat a poor Bournemouth side, but we lost and didn't create much at all.

He keeps being ignored. The issue is our players are too afraid to pass diagonal or believe they can beat the press, one of the reason why we can’t beat teams parking the bus.

We’ll beat them quite comfortably I think, and then those same posters will make sure to point out how SU are newly promoted etc.

People shouldn't underestimate the effect a non-existing midfield has on a teams ability to play attacking football. It makes a huge difference, especially against a side that average 0,67 goals against them at home.

This sort of mentality is why the forum is so crazy recently. You’re expecting this team to be a peak Fergie side smashing Europe and winning titles. It’s not going to happen- yet.

The sort of injury ravaged game against decent opposition (at home) where SAF’s genius used to shine through with some left field team selections! Think we may be surprised today with Jonesy in midfield for instance
    Jones in midfield. Right.

I don’t think they will. I’m nowhere close to being satisfied with where we are under Ole, but a win here would be positive and I’ll give him deserved a praise if he pulls it off. Let’s be honest though, a loss would be disastrous and the pitch forks will be out if we do.

    5the place.
The stuff dreams are made of.

As little as 2 years ago, if we were dreaming of 5th place, that would be classed as a nightmare scenario and a sackable situation for the manager.
Our standards are now so low that fans have been convinced that 5th place is actually a fantastic achievement.

I don't blame Ole. He is a limited in ability and is achieving what is expected of him. I blame Woodward for allowing us to go from serial title contenders, to this.
No manager, under Woodward, can do well.
No one is dreaming of finishing the season in 5th place so you're talking absolute pony. Win this and we're in 5th and closer to the top 4 so cause for optimism after the poor start we had.

Sheffield don't park the bus but don't create much. We can win this even with a patched up mid-field as long as we don't have a brain fart in defence.

I’m totally with you on that. It’s just the jumping back and forth from a lot of posters who have decided he isn’t up to task I have a problem with. If we win it’s because we should, if we lose they get to point out they saw it coming even before the game.

For now I still don’t think we’ll do great things with Ole in charge, but he’s here and is taking on a lot, so I’ll still support him. Just a couple of hours ago you have a newb calling him dumb in the manager thread, and that’s just taking a que from a lot of long time members. Somehow he gets treated equally as bad as Mourinho who shit all over the club for half a year by a large segment. It’s weird to feel compelled to defend a manager I voted to sack over a month ago.

    I think we'll draw.

Regarding who'll be picked ? I have no idea who's fit or not and lazily I cant be bothered to find out.

I used to be like that... all the disappointments and breaking of almost all negative records since Fergie left have changed me :(

If he hadn't played the other day I'd have been happy for Levitt to start today in a midfield 3

Any chance ole tries to counter their overlapping CB's by play Rashford and Martial as split strikers again? Maybe have James at the 10 just behind them, to make runs into space off them both?

I'd just start all three in their normal spaces and let them move freely enough to exploit the channels anyway. We've got almost no first team midfielders fit, so we might as well make the most of our in-form first team strikers. For me it makes more sense for Martial to be the more central and deeper of the three. He's the one who operates best in tight spaces and who can play with his back to a defender. They're the pacy ones, so best suited to breaking past him into those spaces.

We need height and a ball winner next to Fred to wrestle control of the midfield imo! I just hope that Ole has found a solution from somewhere

@Niall , on the homepage, to the right hand side, it says this is an hour away from kick off but it's two hours away.

    Murmurs of potential missing player
There are some whispers one of United’s key players could be out today. That’s unconfirmed and we’ll only know when the squad arrives. United are said to have stayed over in Sheffield overnight, despite the relatively late kick-off today and how quick a trip it is to Yorkshire.
United are due to arrive at Bramall Lane at 3pm.

I suppose it depends whether we try to attack or persist with the stupid tactic of letting opposition come on to us and dominate the tempo. Judging by the fact that we don't seem to win many league games back-to-back, I reckon we will lost 1-0 or 2-0 if we only try to play on the break
