Pelle and Mane kicked our a**es, but thank u long for missing those chances.
Are you serious? Mane was one of the worst players on the pitch. Should have heard the saints fans when he got the ball. Away support was amazing as always, so loud and out chanted the Saints fans.

RVP's hold up play was amazing today. He and the team were actually let down by a very lethargic and off color wayne rooney I felt. 3 points and 3rd position. I am guessing we will play much better against pool.

feck the negativity on these boards, you people are really miserable when it comes to football. We won, third place, great win. Ref was shit at the end, no excuses, we won a very difficult game on the road again and we're in third fecking place. Great game, we won, Southampton should of done more but didn't and we capitalized. Get in.
Yes, this. I was about to post on negativity against our own players. Think Ashley Young, think Fellaini, think RVP. I suggest if you want to come in here to moan just bugger off and watch a sport you understand.

We shall definitely be using 3-5-2 again.
    It's got us wins.
It may not be pretty, but its getting us the away wins that we need.
Passing was terrible. If the passing was better, 3-5-2 probably would've worked.
It didnt help that Smalling was injured so early, so we needed to bring on Evans - who isnt very good.

Of all the players on the pitch it was Rooney that let the team down? the player that put the ball in for the winning goal? ok then..

Im not gonna be to angry with the defense today.. they never seemed to have anyone to pass... Midfield was terrible.
I agree, specially Mata and Fellaini were weak today. They both gave the ball away too easy, but I think Herrera showed again how important he is for us when he came on..Imo, he's a must-starter in our midfield.

People slating Evans needs to understand that he is not a ball playing CB. He was asked to bring the ball from back and he failed miserably. still he had some good moments
Think we will be better against liverpool. Rafael will be back and young can build on this performance. A flat back four is more likely against them

    Entertainment factor - zero.
Only plus point is that RVP worked his socks off and got his goals.

There's been a robbery tonight in Southampton. No way did we deserve the points.
We played entertaining football against Leicester and we know how that ended up. I'd happily play like this and grind out results.

Lowest number of shots by a United side in at least the last 11 years, we were awful
Agreed we were not at our best, but these make shift sides we keep putting out, are doing well to just grind a result for us.

Well we won, yipee :nervous: Seriously though, that is not enjoyable to watch! Arsenal all over again. Why does he keep setting up away from home as if we're a mid table/relegation threatened team, playing really defensive just hitting teams in the counter?!

3-5-2 can feck off right now - none of the players know what shape they're playing and it exposes the very nervy defensive passing errors. (How may times did Evans give the ball away near our box)

The only positive was RVP, who looked to have got his sharpness and touch back. Bar him and Young everyone else was wank...

Bring on Liverpool :wenger: NO 3-5-2 LOUIS!!!!

They pressed well i wont look to much into it there manager knows LVG personally has worked beside him probally knows his "Philosphy" very well how his going to play, and it showed todah they were able to stop us playing, granted some passers were just down to stupidity

Its obvious van gaal has no faith in his defenders. We stole 3 points tonight. Would of lost that 3-0 last year. Stats mean nothing. Ask chelsea winning the champions league
Steal did we feck. Southampton couldnt put 3 past DDG. A snif and we score on the other end. Thats really the bottom line. A lot huffing and puffing by both teams in the middle but we edge them at the critical bits and thats what delivers points. Long vs RVP, forster vs DDG. Booyah

LvG should kiss RvP, DDG and Carrick asses. bloody idiot with his fecked up tactics. i always defended him but he really pissed me off last few games. hope he makes me eat my words and i will apologize to him. i wish United nothing but success. GGMU lads, 3rd in the league!
Lol, when it comes to moaning you take the cake. We are on a five game winning streak, ffs...

People defending Evans should take a serious look at themselves. Evans was fecking terrible and this is not the first time. He has been terrible all season and has never, ever been United quality even when he partnered Vidic. He should be sold for being shit and Smalling and Jones for being made of glass.

DdG - Good game again. Couple of great saves.
Valencia - Looked confused at WRB again. Like he does not know when to go forward and when not. Provided no width and no crosses.
Smalling - OK performance, but injured again?
Rojo - OK, but just didn't know where to go with the ball at times. Realy shouldnt drible that much at CB.
Evans - Back from injury and it showed. Poor passing
Young - Good game. Our best ''defender''.
Paddy - Taken off for his own good. Poor performance.
    Carrick - Solid again.
Fellaini - Poor 1st half, got beter in the 2nd but not good enough.
Mata - Invisible for most of the match. A couple of good touches. Must show more.
Herrera - Good performance, pressed hard. Shoul do beter with possesion.
Rooney - God bad to no service. Worked hard. Got the assist but can offer so much more.
RvP - Good runs, great hold up play worked hard defensively and finaly got a brace. MOTM

He was way off his usual self and lost the ball a number of times. There were other players who played badly too but apart from the free kick I can't think anything of note that rooney did. He was slow and lacked sharpness understably as he is coming back from an injury but then LVG should have played someone with pace up front then. I don't see how a Januzaj would have caused more harm by playing instead of Rooney today. Adnan could have stretched play which Rooney today could not do. Again, it was a very good free kick and don't get me wrong, I would start Rooney in the next match but today he was a bit shit.

Liverpool will press us just as good as Southampton, they always play out of their skins against us we need to deal with it much better than tonight.
We play at home, with Di maria, Rafael & Shaw back Maybe a fully fit Falcao too. We would deal with the fine. They are poor upfront except Sterling.

That was bloody awful tonight but a win is a win and I'm more than happy with the result. Sometimes you just have to take it and move on. LvG's post match interview was spot on, ruthless!

Our away support absolutely killed it tonight, would have lost without them. Fantastic throughout.
