Oh well, let's see what 45 minutes with our backs digging into the wall look like. See what we're made of.

One of those half's where nothing has gone right for United.

Should have been leading instead Southampton 1-0 against the run of play. Should be 1-1 then 2-0 down straight after and the so call foul on that free kick looked very soft.
Nah it wasn't a soft free kick. Clear as day. I fully expected Fred to panic and foul there. Dumbass foul. Underrated my arse.

We've seen this performance a million times. I feel we fannny about too much. We haven't played particularly badly it's just we don't commit when we're attacking. Get the numbers in the box.

There is no way they are not being told that. It was just an incredibly stupid decision by Fred. And he owns that goal IMV.
Yeah that’s another possibility, could just be another thing to add to a long list of stupid things done by Fred.

They've crowded the area and they hit it in front of the front post. It's not something you just come out to collect. I have no idea how this is portraited as a goalkeeper mistake when it's a teammate that completely loses the man he's

Nor why it's somehow the biggest issue after Greenwood, yet again, completely cocks up
I am no fan of DDG and I want him out but both goals were excellent set pieces. He could do nothing about them.
Watch literally any other keeper in the league and they come for that, why shouldn't he?
He's 6ft 4, can use his hands and will probably get a free-kick anyway if challenged whilst going for it.
    It's common sense/basic goalkeeping.

If it was just a one off then fair enough but this is every single time a cross comes near him.
He may as well go and have a coffee break when a cross comes near him, because people think it's ok to just stand there like a statue anyway.

Exactly. Individually we are better and have more depth but we've set up to essentially combat their system, not impose our own. We are just too passive/reactive despite having so many top players.
Not true. We’re just not playing very well and they scored from two set pieces. They don’t look any better coached than any other team. They have a tricky winger and a guy who takes good free kicks.

And that’s where a captain comes in to the refs ear letting him know. I can’t stand Henderson but he’s constantly having a word with a ref in games. Maguire says feck all even to our own players.
Yeah... Fernandes is a leader. Maguire is struggling to lead himself at the moment

Harsh scoreline undone by two set piece goals that DeGea could have done better with.

Southampton created little outside of that and United should have scored a few goals. Need leaders to stand up to get back into this game now unfortunately they only have one in Bruno.

we are too easy of a side to play against. Be aggressive, kick people, etc.
nobody in our side has the guts to go back after anyone and leave a mark to say you won’t get away with that. We just allo our best players to be kicked up AMD down. Too nice in the words of Jose

Ole is a read shock. Pre match he mentioned that score 2 goals from set piece and we should not give them easy goals like that. He put in a team that conceded 2 set piece goals. 2nd goals I would expect DDG would cheat to cover the top right corner yet he conceded the goals. Can he sign Prowse for 50 million? He is fantastic with corners and free kick where we suck. Buying him, we make Southampton weaker. Haha.

Oh yeah, Maguire is useless. Through no fault of his own really, but he is literally useless when the opposition just plays around him.

DVB reminds me more of Davy Klaasen every time i see him. Looks permanently a yard off the pace and doesnt look like he’ll ever make it up

Only VdB and Fred were decent in that half, the rest were dire, misplacing every other pass or playing non threatening obvious passes most of the time

The wasted chances are one thing, Fred is typically foolish with his tackling, but the way we crumbled after the first was pathetic, we've fallen apart after the second.

The thing is you know Ole won’t change a thing at half time. No other manager would be allowed this much leniency of competence. It’s just accepted now.

Southampton are no mugs. Player for player we are better than them, of course, but tactics / coaching wise they more than make up for this.

We have not been bad. Undone by two set pieces. But we still are relying on individual brilliance rather than collective brilliance. We are not coached to attack as a unit.

Look at Rashford near the end there. Tries to take on five defenders and do it himself. Rather than passing it. Because what Ole says is give the ball to Rashford and Bruno and let them create.

So all you have to do is stop Bruno and Rashford. Because we are not coached to attack as a unit like City under Baldiola are.

We saw the same in the Arsenal game. Stop Bruno and you stop us because 80 percent of it goes through him.

Even our best chances today from Greenwood have come from Southampton making mistakes rather than "our good attacking play."

We are relying on individual brilliance and not collectve brilliance.

Best we can hope for now is a draw.

It's the other way round. The FK was un-saveable, it's literally gone in next to the post. The Corner he is stood there like a year 3 playing in net vs year 11s. He's so weak in the commanding the box, luckily the rest of his game propels him up.
I agree with the FK but you rarely a world class keeper attack the ball like that in near post. He lets his defenders deal with it

What’s our record with games referred by Jon Moss? I have this weird feeling every time I see his little pornch waddling round the pitch telling me we’re losing today. Weird

Gave away two goals. Yes, that is a goalkeeping error. Easy save for an ordinary goalkeeper, and de Gea is supposed to be anything but ordinary.

Besides that, i think we have been alright. Good press, but our forwards are completely useless. Rashford and Greenwood don't know what a good run is, and it feels like Fernandes has to do everything alone. Runs, passes, goals.

    Bring Cavani on, dear lord.

De Gea did poorly for the corner but the freekick was not on him. That was Fred's fault.

We can if we play like we did for the first 20 then it’s doable.
Just need to get that goal. Football is one of the most psychological games out there, we get that goal we'll be back on top and Southampton will lost confidence. Look at the start of the game, we were clearly the better side, now it's all changed... not the system, the psychological aspects.

Such games we need someone with low center of gravity, someone who can run and dribble with the ball, someone who can invite fouls. Someone like Pellistri.

What game are people watching? We've played quite well.

Dissapointing on the set pieces but how many times have Southampton done that? We should have had a couple ourselves. Not over yet.

Rashford hasn't been great again though, everything seems to break down when he touches it at the min. I'd get Cavani on, he looked like he was getting back to a decent level if sharpness mid-week.

Let’s remember Greenwood’s age, this kid can go to the very very top, he’s having a bad patch, personally I’m not that impressed with how many times Fernandes has back healed to no one. Let’s hope he shows his best in the second half. We were the better side until the goals but we weren’t great.
