Poor attacking but decently solid at the back, Varane has been excellent and Martinez mostly bar a couple of shaky moments. Attack offering very little, Rashford can't hold the ball up, Elanga is trying but weak, Bruno as frustrating as ever. Sancho looks tidy but non-threatening, Eriksen has been decent with McT quiet.

I think Utd need a different type of number 10 than Bruno, he is just not good enough with his back to goal, and doesn't offer himself enough in those situations because of it.

Martial getting injured is inconvenient as he can help provide some structure.

Well if ever a 45 minutes put the "don't change a winning team" ridiculousness, it was that.

Need a sub. Casemiro on, Bruno off, push Eriksen up. I’d like Elanga off but I doubt we send Garnacho on yet.

Not enough urgency. Pitch being so shit doesn't help. Not sure why it's slow and so bumpy. Nothing special about this Southampton team except they'll be good at set pieces. Bruno needs to sharpen up again. Rashford quiet. Elanga very poor.
The pitch apparently has a disease of some sort, or so my commentator said.

We could bring Casemiro on for Mct, I guess. The latter has done well as a defensive shield so far, to be fair, but he offers nothing from an attacking standpoint, admittedly.

One thing is for sure, ETH needs to make changes soon. This team isn't going to do it today.
Agree that Casemiro for McT is a better shout. Eriksen has made some delicious passes and he had one cross that no one anticipated which could easily have led to a goal if one of the forwards could be arsed to gamble.

Eriksen still has more to give this game, McT is done. Plus, after Bruno stealing and ultimately ballsing up that fk, Eriksen offers a lovely set piece taker if we happen to geta fk in a threatening position

Casemiro on, new RW and see how it goes imo

Scott, Elanga and Bruno should be taken off at HF. Completely useless in possession against organized defences. We sorely need an explosive ball carrier in the attack, and a striker with good hold up and link up play.

Mctominay completed 9 passes in the first 30mins, please stop trying to say he has had a decent game, offering the sum all of nothing

Ronaldo on, and Elanga off and Rashford out on the wing. At least Eriksen would have someone to pass it to, when he crosses the ball.

At this point I'm hesitant to slate Sancho too much. He's always been someone who thrives when he has players running off of him, and literally none of our players bar Eriksen have been intelligent enough to do that.
At one point he was 1v3 down the left side and Rashford didn’t even give him an option.

Thought we was ok, not sure why the crying. We aren't going to play every game like the Liverpool one. Away from home and not losing. I feel we'll kick on and win from here.

Well we ain’t conceded yet so that’s a good start. Should be easily 1/2 goals up. I feel more confident going into games when Maguire isn’t starting. Martinez is having another decent game. Need to get rashford involved more. I’d switch rashford to the left second halve, bring on Ronaldo for Elanga and Casemiro for mctominay and let’s go for it!

We just can’t break these sides down, it’s been our problem for years now. Hoping ETH will sort this out but it will take many more training sessions to really drill it into them.

Bruno is nowhere near good enough. And Rashford up top is just not great. Would rather Elanga from the middle, to press the CB's.

    Take him off half time.

No he has not, he struggle to transition from his position when we have the ball and when soton have it. That is why they have created eveything from that side.
I said defensively. Everything you're mentioning is in attack. If you think he's been bad defensively I don't know what you're watching and I completely disagree

I fail to see what Rashford brings to the table. It’d be one thing his being quiet but if a poacher’s chance fell to him, he’d be nailed on to take it, but that isn’t the case.

Still too flat, we need to start moving around like a top team with some meaningful football. Would have been a good statement if ETH removed Elanga after 30 minutes.

Bruno can have good moments but I've always said and will always maintain it, if we wanna seriously improve as a team, he cannot and shouldn't start anymore. It's too obvious now

Elanga and Bruno are just bad. McTominay and Rashford mostly missing in action. No one supporting Sancho.

Seems more of the same to me to be honest. Hoof the ball and hope for the best.

It’s diabolical. The amount of times our defenders have the ball and he slots in behind the opposition forwards and points wide. Literally every time we have the ball.

Bruno, Elanga are killing us and Rashford is anonymous. Leaves far far too much for Sancho and Eriksen to do.

Casemiro on for Bruno and push Eriksen into #10 and see how that goes, Ronaldo and Garnacho to follow.

Not a vintage performance but at least the team looks to have some confidence and composure. Elanga and Dalot are clear weak links in this team, Bruno has been poor, and Rashford offers very little. Feel for Sancho because he’s been left with very few passing options on multiple occasions.

Edit: McTominay is also a weak link, I didn’t mention him because I forgot he was even on the pitch.

McTominay has been one of our best players in this half
Sorry to swear at you but are you fuking serious?

the guy has not only been anonymous…hiding as usual but he is also getting ran past as if he’s not there and he has barely had an meaningful touch - in centre midfield? Eriksen is running the show for us - Bruno and McTominay are having a laugh.

get Fred and Casemiro on for Bruno and McT. Play Eriksen as a ten and send Elanga back to the u23s. Get Ronny on.

We've had decent possession in this game, especially compared to the last one, which makes sense given the opposition approach differences. None of our mid or forward players have done themselves any favours in this match, whether I like the players or not. Need a tactical change. The midfield is getting the ball to the forward four often enough, but what happens from that point has been a struggle. We've had some good chances but so have Southampton. The backline has done well for us, but yeah, need more creativity up front, and more fluidity.

Not the players themselves that are at fault in my opinion - tactically being outplayed in the final third. The tactical change may require a change in players, but I don't think there's one or two particular players that have caused more problems than the others so far in the first half. All equally 5/10 for me in the front line, and 6/10 in the midfield.

Ahhhhh, Rashford cannot play down the middle & McTominay & Elanga offer nothing. It's like having 8 men. Stick Rashford out wide & get Casemiro on at half time.
Yep 1 man midfield again with the League one midfielder hiding, no forwards to hold the ball either. Rashford is just annoying shying away from any kind of contact, what a difference to Adams or Elyounassi.

Really relying on Martial to stay fit and motivated and the selfish wanker Ronaldo with kid Elanga in contention for the forward roles makes me sick. We don't need just a wide man like Antony but a striker.

Our front 3 are really bad. Rashford & Elanga should not be starting games like this for us. Ask yourself that if Elanga was playing for another club then would he be someone we would be looking to sign and the answer is no chance
Elanga is fine in a game where you have 30% of the ball and just need someone to run and provide a bit of energy. I'd happily start him against City, Liverpool or Chelsea. He's next to useless when we have the ball, though.

This is just showing why we need a striker (as Martial cannot stay fit). Rashford is a very poor outlet, he doesn’t know where to position himself nor does he offer a pass for his wingers. McTominay has probably had the fewest touches of every midfielder on the pitch, and 50/50s are 20/80s for Fernandes.

So… nothing we didn’t already know about those players, I guess
