We are easily in the top 3 worst midfield in PL(and maybe even Defense).
    Excellent. Yeah that's us.

Sunderland don't have half a team injured, Young and Valencia are playing out of position, Blankett and Keane are lacking experience (However Blankett has been the best defender today) but have bagfuls of potential. Cleverly shouldn't be anywhere near the team let alone Fletcher (actually is he playing) So ill give you that.
So you agree that the players I mentioned playing for us today would struggle to get into the Sunderland side. Is it any wonder we are playing so poorly with so much dross on the pitch?

What a shit half of football. We don't deserve to be level.

Our midfield and wingbacks have been absolutely awful.

Cleverley, Fletcher, Young and Valencia our main culprits. They look like they've never seen a football before, and are playing like complete strangers. No movement at all. Just the same old predictable making pretty passes in midfield and then watching our attacks peter out. Sunderland are loving this.

Get Young and Cleverley off and bring Adnan and Welbeck on.

    Valencia, Keane, Jones, Blackett

    Januzaj, Mata, Fletcher, Welbeck

    Rooney, RVP

Would be my choice for the second half.
That midfield is too weak to protect an even weaker back four. They would get over-run. I almost didn't reply when you put Mata in CM, honestly thought you were joking.

We play too simple. Its we walk around and making wrong passes all game long. Mistakes after simple passes. Yeah its too easy to break down.

this formation makes our attack seem inept.

we cant play this formation if we dont have CMs who can pass the ball - fletch and cleverley

we need width. both valencia and young are not pushing forward enough either. time to switch formation (to a 4-1-4-1) and take a risk with kagawa as a CM and blackett as the LB.

    Van Persie
    Januzaj Kagawa Rooney Mata
    Clevereley

The wing-backs could make the greatest run possible, the two CM's still wouldn't be able to get the pass off on time, they are the reason why we are so slow and predictable when in possession

Were not even maintaining our standards let alone improve. Its a shocking collapse like a house of cards against a team we should be beating comfortably. Thats what i saw in the first half.
What standards?? We've collapsed for a year! It doesn't matter we dominated for 20 years. We have to rebuild our method and confidence. That takes time.

There's plenty of players in the u21's and u18's that I'd happily take over Cleverley i.e. Pereira and Pearson to name a few

The pace we are playing at just ISN'T Manchester United. This slow tempo was brought in by that twat from Everton and it seems to have stuck. I hate the idea of being bored bwatching United...
Been like this for at least 2 years. Difference under Fergie is while our play was poor we had numbers forward to create havoc in the opponents.

Now they have all the time in the world.

When we used to play with cleverley last season or even in SAF last season it was always like playing with 10 men, now alongside celverley its like only having 9 players on the pitch

Our biggest weakness is 2 quality CM`s who can get ball, and transition quickly from defence to attack seamlessly, or intercept, and help out the defence, its so obvious, when will the club sort out our horrendous midfield, mata rooney, rvp talents are being totally wasted

Stop using injuries as an excuse for this performance. Injuries happen to every team. Its about having the right replacements lined up for them.
Bullshit, name me another team that has the injuries we have.

It's painful to watch the demise of this football club. Never thought it was gonna be this bad after SAF.....

How much do we still need Vidic today. Maybe not in his prime anymore but we could have done with him sorting everyone out at the back.

Timid performance so far. Now with Smalling off, that defense looks terrible shaky. I know it's still early in the season and the players will need time to adapt, but we can't be losing games like these. Hoping to see a better second half!
Agreed. It will get better but that's because it can't really get much worse. If we way to at least finish in the top 4 we can't keep dropping points against the smaller teams in the league.

I would bring Kagawa on or Januzaj. At least they would pick up the ball and go at the Sunderland defence.

I think Fletcher will end up at centre back today. Knowing our luck Jones will get injured too.

Jones and two kids is the worst defence I can remember us ever fielding in a Premier league game. Sods law both full backs are out too.

Just need to buckle up, get through this game, and then it's Burnley followed by a 2 week international break.

The CM pairing and the WBs not good enough.

The CMs are hiding and the WBs are not attacking enough.

Once again the diabolical central midfield comes to bite us on the arse.
Agreed, them along with a pair of poor wing backs, no wonder we can't control a game. Doesn't help that Rvp looks nowhere near fit.

think I would be happier going back to 4-4-2 this half. Atleast we made semi chances against these type of teams. Right now we are just going through the middle and losing the ball. Even when we get it wide the wingbacks are scared to actually attack, they just keep turning round and going backwards. You've got 3 defenders covering you ashley bloody take him on!

I hope we can get something out of this game, a point would be excellent. We're playing wingers as defenders, Fletcher and Cleverley in midfield and our defense is made out of U21 players. What can you expect?

Kagawa is better in DM than both Cleverley and Fletcher, even if it's not his natural position. Tracks back all the time and offers something going forward. At least those giveaways like Fletcher had today are not Kagawa's thing.

Can someone explain to me how we've gone from playing the kind of football we did during pre season which was exciting and quite promising to this god awful rubbish? Because I'm kind of at a loss.

Why are cleverly and fletcher so afraid of keeping the ball? There is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't sign another midfielder in coming days or two. Even a fecked up knee Vidal would be better than these two <insert a suitable insult here>.

I reckon Rothwell and Lawrence can"t do worse than Fletcher and Cleverley in our midfield today.
I reckon if they could those at the club who've actually seen them at close quarters would know before you do.
