As much as we need to bring players in, we seriously need to get rid of Young/Valencia/Fletcher/Cleverley/Hernandez/Anderson. They offer NOTHING to this team, we'd be better off with youth players.

Awful midfield options without Herrera. I hate seeing players played out of position but would rather see Rooney play emergency central midfield than see Fletcher and Cleverley there ever again.

Any formation or system that we choose means at least 2 central midfielders are going to be needed on the field and we only have one of any quality at the club (Herrera). Anderson, Cleverley, Fletcher, Fellaini - awful selection options.

Jones was the only (?) positive today, acted like a leader. Blackett did ok too.

Tried of seeing Rooney so uninterested at times, laughable he got the captaincy.

We need top experienced CMF and CB, OBVIOUSLY, but before that, we need to stop playing 3-5-2.

Young, Fletcher, Cleverly and Rooney all look terrible. Probably this mean nothing but since Rooney have been Captain from the Liverpool game we haven't look as good as we were before.

This is not united I used to know.
    I want 4-3-3 / 4-2-3-1 back.
    Januzaj was wasted in CM.
    Ddg|rafael,Jones,rojo/Evans,shaw/James,herrera ,DM,DI maria,mata/Rooney,januzaj,rvp/welbeck.

Valencia seems to have some African magic to blind our past managers and many fans. This guy is terrible. I said it last season, he is possibly the worst and most negative wide player in the league.
You could say the same for Cleverly and Fletcher both wouldn't get into the Sunderland side.

I think we controlled the second half, sunderland dint really worked de gea and manone was the keeper who had to work harder. I think smalling leaving gave us quite bit of stability. Jones looked good and so did blackett.keane was decent, cleverly and feltcher were shit but we already know that. The top 3 of van persie mata and rooney were showing a decent understanding of the game between each other. Valencia looked solid. januzaj played in a position he isnt natural too, so he did not really have an impact.

I think we are changing from a swashbuckling 4-4-2 to a more game controlling philosophy. We are moving to a bayern munich type game where we dictate how our opponents play. This was evident in the second half. The problem is that the midfield is all wrong. we need a 6 and herrera to be constantly fit. Carrick can do the job of the 6 but he is out till christmas. It will take time but the direction we are heaing to seems clear to me. We nee one midfielder and one defender though. When we have a fully fit team with di maria and couple more signings, i think you will see a much more dominating and posession hogging man utd. Its bad our players are injured so so much. Eventually we will get them fit, it will take time as so many players arent comfortable with this philosophy yet. I mean cleverly and fletcher are not midfielders for this type of game. Herrera and mata are good, but we need a good base for our building to stand, right now the base is made of shit. I hope we do couple of deals, especially in midfield and i think we will be a force to be reckoned with. I am not happy, just hopeful and not deluded like some who think van gaal with magic wand will get us going.

Van gaal worked with holland for years to implement his philosophy, bayern munich dint win any of their first four games, United also are traditionally one of the worse starters. I remembering us signing tevez, hargo, nani and anderson and yet not winning our first three games and going on to win the league and the champions league.
It wil happen trust the manager. He isnt a noob, He wanted to give players a chance and now once has analyzed the squad he will get us going. Just need to catch a break from injuries.

Tom Cleverley was good as a kid when he had something to aim for. Since he got the reality TV girlfriend and is mixing with celebrities he has gone to shit. Happens with a lot of footballers. You should always want to be better. Maybe he thinks he had reached that level already.
I'm out of the uk, so I miss a lot of the media coverage of their private lives. I didn't know he was like Beckham-lite off the field.

He looked a great pass and move footballer as a youngster and was very penetrative. About two years ago he seemed to completely lose every penetrative part of his game, and all his good footwork. I remember thinking he could be our version of Iniesta with the way he played. Not in terms of ability, but in terms of playing style. And then he just went to shit. Shame.

G Nev thinks Di Maria will start in a front 3, mentioned Mata too. Is he advocating the unthinkable? The choice of 1 of Rooney OR Rvp?

I hope in the next month or so we end up like this -

    De Gea
    Rafael - Evans - Rojo - Shaw
    Jones
    Herrera - Mata
Di Maria - RVP - Januzaj

    What are you on about?
He's of course far from being our main concern atm, but he looks lazy out there and more than once he had a chance to clear the ball or grab it but instead stood in his place without trying to commit himself and help the defense.

Calm down everyone, this can only get better. LvG will sanction a midfield purchase especially after todays performance by Fletcher. I think pre season fooled LvG into thinking Fletcher is a great holding midfielder, also a leader etc. He was terrible against Swansea and today too so I'm convienced Louis has changed his mind about him. Cleverley can feck off as well.

We have to be careful not to run into a historic loss in midweek (not that we play that bad but confidence is very low at the moment and football is crazy game)

Tbf we have many players out due injury. Rafael, Evans, Smalling, Shaw, Herrera, Carrick.. I bet I forgot someone..
    And Di Maria is coming.

We should buy at least one more CM before the window closes, should change to 4-3-3, Valencia and Young shouldn't start anymore, instead of them Januzaj and ADM on the wings and one of Rooney and RVP should be benched. LVG shouldnt make a same mistake as Moyes and try to work with both Rooney and RVP in the team. It seems it isn't working.

    I don't get it.
Players who played worse than Cleverley today: Fletcher, Valencia, Young, Keane, Mata, RVP, Rooney, DDG.
Why exactly is he getting the most criticism of all players? Is it just popular to hate him?

Anderson should stay he's better than those fecking shite players fletcher and cleverley. Anderson is better in every aspect ranging from passing , creating chances , and being able to commit himself to making surging runs from midfield to the opposition box

Robin van Lazy was useless again today, would rather see Welbeck start ahead of him or for him to be the player dropped when Di Maria arrives.

I've never gone in for moaning at Cleverley. But for me he was top of the sh!T pile today.
Gave away loads of fouls, gutless sidewards passing, just a non performance.

Probably doesn't help his game if Van Gaal has told him he's on his way out.
When you know you're only playing due to injuries and signings not being made it's not great for confidence.

I am shocked that Rooney does escape criticism on the caf, while Fletcher and Cleverly get slaughtered here for very similar performances.

Unfortunately I think he thought he was as well and his progressed stopped dead. You look and Ronaldo and Beckham and they just wanted to get better and better. You wonder if any of these lads go back after training to practice more.

Once you finish with the transfer market there is no way you are continuing with 3-5-2. Jones was the only player above average today (though Mata had a good first half he wasn't up to speed in the 2nd). Young was atrocious as were Fletcher and Cleverly. Rooney created nothing and that is a problem for you - a lot of it stemming from a lack of pace - as there was an alarming lack of creativity.

Once Di Maria comes in you will probably switch to 4-3-3 to bring stability to your defence and midfield and to accommodate him, even if the defence/midfield are not the best (Rojo, Shaw, Blind and De Jong will bring that stability, if those are who you eventually end up with). This will give your attack more of a chance to shine but you really do need a top class CB and even more so one or two high quality CM players.
