We are too open in midfield I feel, I don't think it's crazy to consider adding some more ground coverage in there in the form of Herrera.
Herrera won't stop the openness and his form has been bad for a while

This could end up being the story of 2 draws. Sunderland will be on a bit of a high after coming from 2 goals down at Anfield on Saturday where as we might be reeling a bit from conceding that last minute equalizer at Chelsea.

Having said that, if we can come out of the blocks with the same pace we did at the start of both halves on sunday then i can only see us picking up 3 points.

Should be a straightforward win now that we've broken our goalless first half hoodoo.

Herrera in for Mata and Morgan for Fellaini. win is a must.
You serious??? Schneiderlin needs a spell in the U21s. I'm not in any shape or form a fan of Fellaini but he has upped his game in the last three matches, running around with a bit more purpose and actually being useful.

Smalling is regressing back to the backwards/sideways passing, shirt grabbing, player mauling antics that used to get me so mad. Has put in some good blocks and tackles but he needs to up his game again.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised with another draw. I'd say 0-0 or 1-1.

midfield still the problem after all these years.

Really hope we get at least one top box to box midfielder. atm I'm wishing we had Cleverly. oh well.
I reckon we should get at least one top midfielder who can replace Carrick's task first instead of searching box to box who has no clue running our midfield. Someone who can dictate a tempo of our play with vision and range of passing.

Same team, obviously we don't wanna break the good rhyme. 4:0 for United

Fellaini, Rooney, Martial, and then Will Keane comes in for 10 min and score the 4th. Come on Van Gaal!! make it happen!!

I think the starting line-up will be at least very similar if not the same as the last two games:

    de Gea
    Darmian Smalling Blind Borthwick-Jackson
    Carrick Fellaini
    Lingard Mata Martial
    Rooney
    ---
Romero; Varela, McNair; Schneiderlin, Herrera, Pereira; Keane

With Keane getting 5 goals, he's got a shot to replace Memphis on the bench (gives LvG even more of a reason to do it). Should win this comfortably given our form, but the fight back against Liverpool will give them a bit more confidence too. Still, going to say 0-2 United.

I'd would have loved Pereira to play in this game but he didn't impress me too much in the u21s the other day so can't see him playing. Keane should definite be on the bench though

    --------Rooney

Give Martial and Carrick a rest, drop Mata.

Same team. Need to be at our best to make up the gap between us and top 4 both in terms of points and goals. Top 4 all play eah other, we droop any points here and that's top four gone. It's already a massive struggle as it is.

With all the Jose reports and speculation mounting the press conference should be a treat. Is it tomorrow or Friday?

LVG: You are all saying that I shall be sacked at the end of the season. Did you speak with Edward Woodward?

From what I understand a guy in the know, who has a 100% record on giving out inside information is saying that Mourinho will 100% be MUFC manager next season.

I think Varela is doubtful with a knock to his ankle. Memphis will be on the bench. He needs a wide option. He did lay on 3 assists the other night and could have had a fourth had Pereria shown a better touch.

With Varela out it would be either Jones on the bench if he's considered ready to play,or another youth option like Donald Love.

Love is a player who I can see fighting his way back to The Premier League one day like Drinkwater has. It's just a matter of when he leaves.

    Carrick--Fellaini

Maybe Keane on the bench instead of Jones.

If Jones is ready, won't need McNair there. Jones can cover RB, CB and DM. That would leave a space for Keane.

If we continue to play with the flow and increasing confidence in the last few games, we should win this comfortably.
Any United win at the moment is so much more welcome as I just know all the moaning warriors over in the LVG out thread will be cutting themselves up.
    0-2 United.

    We'll beat these easily. 2-0.

I would go with the same team from last game.

Anyone know what happened to Young?

Lingard got the goal so he can't be dropped. I am a big fan of Mata but what if we play Januzaj instead of him? I just want Adnan to be given a chance.
You want Lingard dropped , just because you want to give Adnan a chance ??? You dont drop players that are scoring goals and playing well.
Adnan is now injured so wont happen.

doubt he will , the under 21's have another game this week , I think v City, 2 games in a week.
Well he should only be included for the U21's if he doesn't get a run out vs Sunderland. It's pointless prioritising the U21's, the form he's in he should be given an opportunity to properly prove himself, and what better way to ease himself in than against shitty Sunderland?

he has played 2 games this week , you got in before my edit.
He would struggle to play in 3 games in a week , no matter how fit a player is.

Win here, and at least one of Spurs/City/Arsenal lose ... and 4th is far from over. 4th in itself would be a disappointment, but it's the best we can realistically do at the moment.
