Could well be missing all of Herrera, Pogba, Rashford, Smalling, Bailly, and Valencia for this - all of which most fans would class as first-team players for us. Although, the results we've been getting and some of the performances maybe suggest they shouldn't all be automatic selections.

We really need this win and have to get on a little run this month, otherwise it is quite possibly season over by the start of December. I don't care if this sounds dramatic, failure to win here and get decent results for the rest of the year is going to keep us 10+ points off top four. This run of fixtures (Swansea, Arsenal, Feyenoord, West Ham, West Ham FAC, Everton, Zorya, Spurs) will tell us a lot about our side and where we're going to end up. It's a chance to make up ground on three teams above us, but it matters not if we don't beat Swansea.

    de Gea
    Darmian Blind Rojo Shaw
    Carrick Fellaini
    Mkhitaryan Mata Martial
    Ibrahimovic
    ---
Romero; Jones, Fosu-Mensah; Schneiderlin, Young, Memphis; Rooney

Looks very poor on paper.. At least six or seven of them shouldn't be here next season. None the less, hopefully the lads can pull something off. Or hopefully a few others are fit enough to play.

We need Carrick to roll back the years for this. If we go with a midfield 3, our best choice IMO would probably put him behind Mata and Rooney (I know). Martial and Miki on the wings with Ibra top, but most likely would be Lingard for Miki. Smalling being back would be a boost, that way we can move Blind to his more comfortable position because when he's rcb, even his best qualities get hindered.

Does anyone have a list of all-time United results at Swansea in all competitions? @Damien

I'm expecting Rooney to be picked for a few consecutive games and think he'll deliver a some match winning performances

I think this might be a game where you'll beat them 3-0. Swansea aren't doing very well at the moment.

Come on United. It's been a shit week. Cheer me up.
Sucks to hear that, maru. If there was any a time for United to pull their fingers out, this is as good as any with Swansea being our bogey team and whatnot.

Zlatan, Shaw and Rashford should all be dropped from what I've seen recently. Try Martial up top, Mkhi and Mata to start, not sure about who on the other wing (Lingard/Depay/Rooney probably), any combo in midfield that involves Carrick + some legs around him. Blind at LB, Rojo/Jones/whoever to partner Smalling. TFM at RB.

    EDIT:
    -------------DDG-----------
    TFM--Smalling--Rojo---Blind
    ----------------------------------
    -----Carrick----Schneiderlin----
    ---------Pogba/Herrera--------
    ----------------------------------
    Mkhi--------Mata-------Rooney
    -------------Martial---------------
Even with all 12 of them playing, I wouldn't be particularly confident

As always I'm confident despite the shite that got served up on Thursday evening - I'm going with a 1-3 win here.

I just had a quick sleep because I'm fecked and I dreamt that we won 3-2. Only problem is, I scored the 3rd goal.
As I am slow and shite at footy, it could be an omen that Rooney is going to get the winner.

Is Pogba fit? Think Rooney will start this, and score. It's high time we start scoring. Surely Ibra should score by Law of Averages.

A dull 0-0 with next to no shots on target sounds about right for this.

Not good news, but hopefully it means that Mkhi gets a rare start on the right.
Not good news? Everybody has been calling for him to be dropped from the wing and not played at all unless up top?

I personally think he needs a rest, get Martial back on the left and give Micky a run on the right.

I can see a tricky tie but think we will nick it 2-1, goalscorers will be Mata and Zlatan and then he will go on to score a few.

Been watching the highlights of the other games and they all seem to be playing fast attacking football. I don't get how every time United play they just look so pedestrian. No-one wanting to go forward and make runs into the box. Costa's goal against Everton started from a run just past the half way line. We haven't scored a goal like that in years. That's what we're missing. I just want to see us playing an attacking game. We've only done it in patches and we should be able to turn Swansea over comfortably.

The big problem we have is that the players who may be out are the ones who will get things moving and Pogba is capable of running with the ball. Are the ones we have left able to do what you would like?

Is Pogba available? Or will the legendary Fellaini-Rooney midfield actually happen?

Two possibles lines up for this one for two possibles game plans

Defensive one in order to protect our weak weak back four, and one more attacking

(considering that Smalling, Rashford and Pogba are still injured, Herrera suspended, Mkhitaryan out of favor, and Roo on the bench)

    -----------------------------De Gea-------------------------------
    Darmian----------------Blind----------Rojo--------------------Shaw
    -----------------------Carrick-------Schneiderlin-------------------
    Lingard------------------------Mata--------------------------Martial
    -------------------------------Ibra---------------------------------

Or my offensive version (against a struggling team)

    -----------------------------De Gea-------------------------------
    Darmian----------------Blind----------Rojo--------------------Shaw
    -----------------------------Carrick--------------------------------
    Mhkitaryan-------------Fellaini--------Mata-------------------Martial
    -------------------------------Ibra---------------------------------

Lingard will go right wing and Martial left IMO.

Hope we're giving Rashford a rest and he's not injured. We've been overplaying him lately.
