Aside from the Chelsea result, its been good, which means we going to feck it up aren't we...
    Chelsea result is good too.

We're not winning the league, so I'm happy for Chelsea to pull away of Liverpool and the Oilers.

Let's close the gap on them both today though and go for second. :)

Lingard would have been better instead of Fred or McTominay. He could have even played as a wingback. He played as a wingback on his United debut IIRC.

I can see people are moaning before the games even started.

Yes, we've gone thee at the back and yes, it does look quite defensive but can you blame Ole? We're a team that have looked shaky since the start of the season bar the Leeds game. Most would argue that is a coaching issue and I'd be inclined to agree, but sometimes you just have to do what is needed to solidify the team, and Ole clearly thinks going with the system he's gone with today will help us do so.

Does it mean we'll look less of attacking threat going forward? Yes, it most likely will, but if we can stay solid then you'd expect us to always create with the firepower we have up top, not to mention the options we have on the bench.

We'll see how it goes. I was one calling for a three because we're struggling at the moment, and it's the first thing Tuchel identified when he took over a leaky Chelsea side. Hopefully it goes well today. We must win!

Like Gary Neville I'm not one for calling for the sacking of any Manchester United manager, at least not as long as they aren't doing a decent enough job, but let me add that I'm tempted to demand Ole should be sacked solely for the team he put out there today

    What the feck is this

You don't think they've been doing that? This isn't a computer game, you don't always get the result you hope for from your preperation. The whole club knows the problems we have been experiencing, and will have been doing their best in training to correct these issues. Even before last week, the players will have been working on improvement. But it didn't work. So should he trust that this week it will 100% guaranteed to be better after 5 days of training, or should he pick a more solid team to make sure we're not blown away in the first half again?

He should pick 11 players out of a squad that among the best in the league, why is he getting beat 5-0 anyway?

Look at that bench ffs we're playing like shit and he's picking a team full of defensive players who are out of form (Maguire, Shaw, Fred, McTominay, AWB) I wouldn't mind but Spurs are worse than us and we've gone their not to lose.

How about dropping Maguire for Varane, maybe dropping the worst midfield pairing i've ever seen at United in almost 30 years of support?

City and Liverpool dropping points means we'll win and close the gap to them, giving everybody a glimmer of hope again.

I don’t know why but seeing Cavani and Ronaldo in the same lineup gives me good vibes. I think we might actually win this.

I expect a win because it's Spurs. But if I was one of the players that didn't start last week, I would be defeated, the starters embarrass themselves and the manager start them again.
This is terrible man management and handling of big squad. If VDB cant get a game with 3 at the back and after getting spanked by Liverpool at home with basically the same midfield, then i dont know why we even kept him. If Ole promised him games then future signings will be vary of joining us since Ole blatantly lied to VDB

True that, the stupid optimist in me thinks we still have a chance.

But agreed, Chelsea to win it over City or Pool. And us sneak back into the top 4.

    Interesting shape to the side.

But seems a bit odd when we have so many quality wide attackers that none get in!

Great team selection, good to have Cavani starting and Varane back! Going to be an interesting afternoon! City and Liverpool dropping points would be a great boost too! Let’s go!
Couldn't disagree more with this formation.

Solution to defensive fragility is not playing more defenders. Ole is not a good enough coach, so not much he can do about it.

So how are we going to create anything other than Bruno magic or Shaw crossing? They are actually the only 2 potential creative players (and one of them is a fullback)

We have 2 strikers, so they need service. And we have 6 defensive minded outfield players (not including Shaw in that). Who is going to provide anything to them?

This is going to be one hell of a boring game.

Even if we win this, doesn't mean this was right approach. I would be amazed if we can keep it tight. Only chance we have is Tottenham are even more defensive minded than us.

I do not understand, why we play with both Ronaldo and Cavani. None of them have speed anymore, and I would prefer Rashford instead of one of them.

Ole in full on job-saving mode by packing the defence! But for a team so utterly devoid of any defensive organisation it doesn't matter if we play 7-1-2 or even 8-2 it'll end with opp having plenty of chances to score.

Nonsense. If Conte or Tuchel came here and put that out they'd be considered a genius.
    Nah not at all comparable.
If anything this shows how simple minded Ole is.
Conceding too many - play more defensive players. Doesn’t seem to have thought of maybe dropping the players responsible for the leaky defence.

He also doesn’t seem to have thought about how this team will transition in attack. He also doesn’t seem to have accounted for the fact we’re playing Spurs. A team not particularly strong going forward.
Conte and Tuchel would balance this out by playing ultra attacking wing backs and some pace up top.

    Moan moan moan! this place!

I'm happy Cavani is starting  Looking forward to the game...for that reason its best to stay as far away from this site as possible...logging out
The moaning is justified going on what we've seen this season.

Ole needs to give us reason to trust him or the team by producing the goods consistently. Blind faith will get him or us nowhere.

What’s happens when Spurs start running free through the middle of the pitch? If that happens today and those 3 CB‘s get pulled all over the place that’ll surely be it. Fred and McT have to show they can shield them at least a bit.

We have no excuses with this selection to not at least be solid but I cant see where any service to Ronaldo and Cavani is coming from really unless Shaw reverts back to last seasons form.

 false dawn innit. That has been the story of the last few years at United.

Regardless, this is a difficult game to call. Both team are in horrible form and have poor managers. A draw would most reflective the nature of both these club.

Even if it's a bit of a coward move to go with this formation but at least Ole is trying something ? I know, I know, I'm scraping the barrel with this...

Not even a back 5, more like a back 7. McFred are double pivot.
His cowardice is enough reason to sack him. I can only assume the club got caught with their pants down and weren't ready to appoint another manager.

Maybe it's set to happen in the international break.

Yeah, but you don’t go full defensive with no pace at the break, it doesn’t make sense.
He has Rashford, Greenwood, Sancho, Martial, VDB on the bench, that’s just ridiculous, while our front 2 has 70 years old…
Maybe we will win but the team building doesn’t make sense at all.
