Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, commonly referred to simply as Tottenham or Spurs (and nicknamed The Lilywhites), are a professional football club based in Tottenham, London. The Hotspur Football Club was formed in 1882 by a group of school boys, mostly aged 13 to 14, from Tottenham Grammar School and Saint John's Middle Class School who were members of the Hotspur Cricket Club formed two years earlier. Initially, the boys that formed Hotspur Football Club played games between themselves and friendly matches against other local clubs. The team entered their first cup competition in the London Association Cup, and won their first competitive match on 17 October 1885. The club turned professional on 20 December 1895, and in the summer of 1896 they were admitted to the Division One of the Southern League. On 2 March 1898, the club also became a limited company, the Tottenham Hotspur Football and Athletic Company.

Tottenham were the first club in the 20th century to achieve the League and FA Cup Double, winning both competitions in the 1960-61 season. After successfully defending the FA Cup in 1962, in 1963 they became the first British club to win a UEFA club competition – the European Cup Winners' Cup. In 1967, Spurs won the FA Cup for a third time in the 1960s. In the 1970s Tottenham won the League Cup on two occasions and were the inaugural winner of the UEFA Cup in 1972, becoming the first British club to win two different major European trophies. In the 1980s Spurs won several trophies: the FA Cup twice, FA Community Shield and the UEFA Cup in 1984. In the 1990s the club won the FA Cup and the League Cup. When they won the League Cup once more in 2008, it meant that they had won a major trophy in each of the last six decades – an achievement only matched by Manchester United.

Tottenham supporters have rivalries with several clubs, mainly within the London area. The fiercest of these is with north London rivals Arsenal (with matches between them termed the North London derby). They also share notable rivalries with fellow London clubs Chelsea and West Ham United. Tottenham play their home games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

With hindsight taking of Martial, Eriksen and Bruno today will help us (though think Eriksen may be rotated for this).

Please bench Eriksen, I hope the game against Brighton has helped Casemiro get up to speed, he was much better in the second half

I don’t think a draw will be bad at all for our top 4 hopes

Spurs surely can’t be as bad as they were today against Newcastle

Yep exactly, they're fragile at the back so if we stay solid then we'll score at least a couple to win it. So definitely no Maguire!
Hope we can isolate someone to our left and draw Romero out of position. Anyone 1-on-1 with Dier will have a lot of fun on Thursday.

they will be fired up after today. but if we can score early on they may also break completely. just win it, think newcastle and brighton are the most dangerous competitors for top4

For the love of all the gods out there, DO NOT play Maguire.

Today proved beyond a doubt that he is the issue. A team stretched to the limit in defence put in a solid performance against one of the so called most dangerous attacks in Europe right now.

He plays and the entire team will do their best impression of a destruction derby.

Fred has to start as well, for some much needed energy in the middle.

And after his heroics today, I'd save Weggy for the penalty shootout. Incredible.

    Velveeta Lane
    Dairy Lea Lane
    Cheese String Lane
Imitation Cheese Lane (a nod to their NHL links)

    The options are endless tbh

They'll be in a state as any slim chance they have for CL football rests on this match. We can't have Maguire anywhere near the pitch.

Our back line actually looked fairly capable today, I'd keep things exactly the same in that regard. I'd consider starting with Fredrick over Eriksen though.

Shut down Kane and we've got this sorted. Honestly wouldn't be bothered if we shithoused a draw here, as that would probably be enough to make top 4 all but had.

We’re making top 4 regardless of this game so just go and try not to complete the clean sweep of away losses against the top 7.

Let's get three points and lock in top 4  Hopefully, it takes off pressure from some of the other games then and we can rotate.

We're tired and depleted but they're on their fecking knees, get an early goal and they should crumble.

They are toxic right now but I'd be happy with a draw. A win would all but wrap up top four though, which would be great now we have an FA Cup final to prepare for. :)
