Worried about Rondon. We should be able to create chances against their defence. Think the team will feel a bit less pressure playing away from home.

You think we can score 4 goals without Pogba?
To be fair, we managed to score 4 against Everton, Palace and CSKA without Pogba.

The difference maker always seems to be whether we can get that second goal or not, when we score a second the gaps get bigger and it's easier to get number three and four. Otherwise, it could well easily be a scrappy 1-0. Performance wise it's very clear what missing Pogba does to us.

WBA have always been tough for us, though we won last time. Also, be careful of the old English managers, they seem to be on a roll in the league this season.

2-0, I reckon. We will be functional as usual.

These types of away matches concern me, particularly when Pogba is missing from the squad. Three points are key, i don’t care how we get them. Will be great to have Pogba back in time for the holiday rush of matches.

This is the type of fixture which has me worried. It had better not be another Huddersfield or negative performance.

If only Mourinho had gone with a 3-4-1-2 against Huddersfield (not a 3-4-3 like yours, though)… Exceptionally, Mourinho could go for 3 at the back just because of lack of numbers and quality in the middle and upfront.

See off the last Pogba free game!
We're "Lucky" in a way he got sent off with 3 games in 8 days due.

Imagine if this was early season with an international break in the middle. We could have been without him for a month!

Eh? He would miss the same amount of games in either example, although admittedly we would have to wait longer to see his latest haircut in your latter example

Tough team to face with a new manager appointed ( always hate this situation ) who got a good result at anfield, very solid, hopefully we are fully confident and concentrate, this game can be won by a set piece.

But he has the vision to play the ball further up the field in either direction, so basically any pass from Matic to Mata would further up the play and link it to Martial, Lukaku or Rashford
If Mata plays it has to be in the hole behind the striker/s. He's too slow and predictable playing RW and isn't strong/robust enough to play CM. He has to be in the final 3rd looking to play the forwards in and getting on the end of something himself. He cannot carry the ball from defence to attack like Pogba can.

So practically a diamond is best suited for Mata in the middle, but that leaves us with only Matic hanging back unless we line up with three at the back, the wing backs, Matic and Herrera, Mata sitting on top of them with Lukaku and Martial up front. At the moment it should be Rashford and Martial to be honest. Give the talisman a rest

Sounds good to me mate. Three at the back worked great against Watford and Arsenal. Don't know why we've ditched a system that was working well.

EDIT: McTominay instead of Herrera though.

Agreed. Don’t know what the hell happened to Herrera. Anyway the Matic signing messed with him somewhat? The way he played last season he could have filled that role but who knows really. He was so fearless last season, very precise too.

Facing a Pardew team away from home early on in his new tenure, and without your best midfielder?

    Good luck, lads.

I just have a bad feeling we're going to lose this game. Not sure why. It's important to win especially if City slip up vs Spurs. We need to keep the fight going for the title.

Ha. My thoughts exactly. Pardew is pretty good at revitalising a team that is down and out early on. He'll sink pretty fast in about a year, but those first few months he's very effective.

Just so long as we don't give that twat a reason to dance again.

Not clear to me at all what position would Ibrahimović play in a 3 at the back formation.

Does this mean even more injuries in midfield?

Could be right behind Lukaku, right in front of Mata. But he’s not fit at the moment anyway imo.
So it could be a 3-5-1-1 or a 3-2-4-1 with Zlatan to the right of Mata and both playing behind Lukaku

Ibrahimović as the more mobile secondary striker in front of a slow Mata would be a disaster, for me. Don't believe those two are actually adequate for that formation, really.

The idea is for Mcktominay and Matic to find Mata or Zlatan who can feed Lukaku. The wingbacks could feed all three of Lukaku, Mata, and Zlatan. All three of those are pretty dangerous on a cross, with Mata more so while arriving late.
Switching Zlatan for Rashford could be very effective (in the 3-2-4-1) or having Rashford up front with Lukaku (3-2-3-2). Also Martial as opposed to Mata in that Central role could be really interesting.

    Any traveling squad news ?
No. The closest I can find at the moment is the Telegraph believe Bailly, Carrick, Pogba, Fellaini and Rojo are all out (most of this we knew already).

Do United travel to Birmingham the day before matches ? I know they tend to get the train to London and fly to south Wales the day before.

No Fellaini, Pogba and Carrick. So it's Herrera and Matic again hopefully the guys can be fit for this tough game.

Think it'll be exactly the same line up as what we saw against Bournemouth.
