Dalot suggests we've gone with more natural width. Also Lingard will provide more threatening runs off the ball than Martial.

Hopefully we can move their back five around and stretch them.
Feels like a very defensive side from us. Unless Martial is out with an injury then he should play in this type of game.

Could see a 0-0 or 1-1 with not much created from us. Hopefully Lukaku is still in good form and take his chances.

Would be a coincidence for him to be injured/ill the day after the news broke of an apparent deal being done with PSG.

Yeah, I'm not confident at all. I thought most of the squad was fit? What did they do yesterday?

What is your issue with it?
No Herrera and Matic? I know it's arguable that they shouldnt have come back into the team straight away anyway but come on huge gamble to drop them both at the same time at a ground we lost at 3 weeks ago

Urgh no Rashford bad for us and my fantasy team.

No kids on the bench again, isn't it worth having at least one there per game then if we are winning we can bring them on to get them some experience and see how close they are to being "ready?" Especially as we dont know how much money will be spent in the summer?

Are we playing 5 at the back or is Dalot being used as some sort of winger?

Be interesting to see if Ole has learnt from the FA cup defeat

I'd hope Wolves would have played full strength at the weekend then rested players tonight

Unfortunately this is a must win as Arsenal and Chelsea are still getting wins and there are 4 of us competing for 2 top 4 places and we still have City to come

Good to see Matic getting dropped for MCT, and Fred deserved to start after Herrera horror show. Rashford would've been perfect.

What. Why? We have 8 days until we play Braca. Why do we need to make massive changes?
Because we have played poorly the last few games with a lack of energy. All of Fred, McTominay, Lingard and Dalot will provide that. Wolves were tactically smarter than us in the FA Cup tie last week so presumably Ole has been working on something else. That combined with injuries is why we've seen this starting XI.

    Arguable.

SAF would have done the same as they were both awful at home against Watford

I felt McTominay and Fred should come in but I didn't put either in my prediction as I expected Matic to start and I chose Pereira as the one freshen up.

Looking at the team I think it has to be a 3-5-2 as you can't play a front 3 of Dalot, Lumpy and Lingers.

He is probably being used as a right winger again

That team is woeful. Hopefully I look a fool in a few hours!
Why is it woeful? RAshford is missing because of illness, Martial probably isn't getting risked because he limped off on Saturday and we need an attacking option for the bench. No greenwood or gomes on the bench. Midfield clearly needed changes. It's a good time to freshen things up.

Martial does nothing off the ball to unsettle defensive teams. Hes better when we set up for the counter, in my opinion.

Thank feck Matic and Mata aren't starting tonight. Plenty of pace in that lineup with good options off the bench. Gonna go 3-1 United.

When Matic plays, the entire thread is full of complaints about him. He'd get murdered again by wolves tonight, Mctominay I think is the more suitable choice. Herrera didn't look certain to start anyway with all the talk about his future. Players can often be dropped with similar situations. Plus Fred needs his chances too, we need to find out if he'll be able to step up to the level of this league.

On the one hand I'm glad to see our midfield changed up after their horrible performance against Watford.

On the other hand no Martial and Rashford makes our attack look a lot weaker.

Not a lineup that fills you with confidence, but many of us asked for changes and for a standard to be set. Hope they deliver and earn their places for Barca.

The incentive for us is massive tonight. Wolves havent got much to play for, whereas if we win tonight we go third. We should be the hungrier team and hopefully we'll see that.
This is exactly how it should sound on paper...but I just don't see a cohesive performance regardless of desire to show such. Yes Ferguson used to call for a reaction...and more often than not got it immediately. But that Watford performance was a shocker, and the previous performances have unwanted consistency in terms of lethargy.

All said, I can't see us coming out of the blocks and turning over a new leaf from recent games. We may win, but it's going to be a real stressful game in my opinion.

I see a tentative, frustrating game, likely ending 1-1 with us being very cautious about their counter, along with a disjointed attack that breaks down frequently.

I don't think the sort of game we're about to see often ends with a comfortable victory for us. Regardless of what Ole & the team identify in our approach as things to change, 8/10 this will be a scrappy and 'hows your luck' type affair.

In other news...has Herrera actually agreed a PSG move? What news have people seen?

I like Ole reacting to that performance on Satureday and dropping Matic and Herrera. In an ideal world, Rashford would probably be starting but if he's ill, he's ill. Lindelof being back will be a big help for us in building from the back, and I think Fred deserves a shot after his two decent performances against Arsenal and PSG on the bounce, only for him to be dropped after Herrera's return.

I think we'll see a reaction from the lads to what transpired on Saturday and we'll come out with the win, IMO.

Strong Wolves line up. Can't see us winning this.
