Will be amazed if the midfield battle isn't all Wolves.
Think it will be a scrappy affair, least in the first 45 mins. But yeah, can see wolves take control of the middle as the game winds on.

Not a comprehensive list of who has, but apparently no Fred, Sanchez, Bailly or Fosu-Mensah. As for the rest, blind guess. It's of course possible Fred made his own way there, but seems a bit unlikely.

Not expecting a win but my word what a boost it would give us.

I'd take a draw now though. 4pts from Chelsea H, Wolves A is fine by me.

Absolutely not take a draw. This is a prime example of the mindset of some United fans. Short of a point at City and possibly Liverpool I wouldn’t, from the outset, settle for a point anywhere else. It’s Wolves, not Barcelona.

Three points and a comprehensive win should be attainable. 4-1 to us.

And yet I regularly read here that one of the best midfielders in the world plays for our club? Something doesn’t add up.

We played a 4231 against Inters 352 during pre season and we were fine.

Our front four pressed their three centre backs and holding midfielder, which I can imagine we'll be doing tonight.

In regards to the wing backs, which Wolves use very well, our full backs were very high up to press those and our two midfielders pressed onto theirs. You then have the two centre backs to deal with the two strikers.

How we should look when pressing (providing its the same team against Chelsea

Centre Back Centre Back Centre Back

    Rashford Martial Pereira

    Holding Midfielder

    Lingard

Wing Back Centre Midfielder Centre Midfielder Wing Back

    Shaw McTominay Pogba Wan-Bissaka

    Striker Striker

    Maguire Lindelof

My only worry is that it would mean leaving massive amounts of space in behind our full backs for the strikers to exploit. That said, if we're pressed onto the way we should be and stifle their room, they hopefully won't have the freedom to pick our their desired pass.

I admire your optimism. I’ve gone for a 3-1 win myself but only if we get that first goal. If they score first then we should be concerned. This team hasnt shown its capability to come back from difficult situations yet, having only played one competitive game mind you. One can only hope that we have both the talent and the character to get those magical comebacks we were once very famous for.

I think a draw isn’t awful but it’s not good enough either.... I know it isn’t Barcelona but I think complacency is to be avoided. They’re a very well drilled team and we a win will be difficult to achieve if we aren’t sharp enough.

I know, it's like the Moyesisation of expectations has been buried deep in fan consciousness. Still, 4-1 sounds like you're on the prosecco.

Wolves have never won a Monday night game, we have got this!
You know what that means right? Since SAF has retired we have been helping clubs break records like no one else.

Another record for Wolves to break.

They are a fantastic team at home. City didn't win there last year. Liverpool lost there in the cup.

A draw isn't a bad result for us tonight. I'd love a win and we are capable of it but I don't think you realise how good they are, especially against the bigger sides. They are perfectly set up to play better sides. It's why they struggle against the lower sides sometimes.

We'll see how our midfield holds, personally I think they got better players than us in that area.

One player doesn't make a team? Matic will likely start tonight who's practically a placeholder at DM, so we're one body short already. The midfield is weaker this season without Herrera too. He will be a big miss for us. That said, I still think we will get the three points tonight.

Man City lost 4 games last season and won the title with 98 points.

It seems your mindset is we have better players than we currently do, the competition is not as good as it currently is.

This is the PL not La Liga.

i would love to see gomes and greenwood on bench at least. If Ole is smart he will understand by playing them, and the younger players we have in general, most united fans will be willing to take a step back to see 2 steps forward. With us getting rid of sanchez and lukaku, im actually pretty optimistic and intrigued by the season. Def a big step up from how we ended the season (which i feel most of the pro lukaku/sanchez people seem to have forgotten about).

Agreed. Last season's matches with Wolves were played in our lowest point. I'm confident things will be different tonight. I expect the three points.

Pumped for tonight and would be happy with a point. Would be ecstatic if we got all three. We'll know more about ourselves after tonight.

FotMob app has Pereira and Lingard in the probable starting XI. The rest pick themselves.

For me the only question mark is Pereira, Fred or Mata. Fred seems highly improbable.

Don't see us as favourites here. This will be a very tough game.

Not sure it matters what formation we play in there, an up for it Pogba aside they're just better in midfield.
It'd be the hope that four against three gives us the edge and trying to retain possession more with say, Andreas, Pogba and Mata.

I'm a bit confused, didn't ole say sanchez has a part to play this season? Hes still at the club right?

This is the same Wolves that, despite our late season collapse, finished 9 points behind us with a goal difference of +1, yes?
