I thought a lot of van Gaal signings were good on paper. It was a mix of youth, players ready to kick on the next stage, and some Galacticos. Sadly out of all his transfers only Shaw worked out (and it took a while) and Herrera and Blind were decent.

No one (from what I remember) had any concrete news about Ole's appointment until it happened. Maybe the club is doing away from the constant leaks and are doing their due diligence before naming anyone.
