Loving the blue, me and my mate went to JJB this lunch and he purchased it, but I want to wait to see if Young's number 18 is officially confirmed or not before I make the purchase

I seem to remember some people even complaining about the 06/07 kit. Maybe my favourite kit yet.

To be honest, I haven't disliked a kit for years. Oh, some of our kits the last few years have been less exciting than others, but in the end I usually grow fond of almost all of them.
Our only home shirt that I've disliked is this one:

Always thought it was ugly as hell. Cantona was the only player that made it look good.

I agree with Doevle. I was only a teenager when that came out and I had bought shirts previously but that was the one that ended it for me. So many things wrong with that shirt, it's a prime example of 90s design excess.

Anyone else dislike the look of arched names above the numbers by the way? There's no point in them being like that either and they look particularly crap on hooped shirts. The guidelines said they should only be curved on raglan shirts (where the arms go over the shoulder and join at the neck):

Yep, expecting a new font to be used this year. We used the last one for three years, unusually. There has been a tradition of using a new one every year or two in the past decade.

I think this was probably the 1st time in recent times that the same nameset has been used for 3 season's straight. Probably white again this season.

Ahhh right...I missed that. Know of any online stores that still sells the GK kit from last season and ships them overseas decorativereed?? Wanted to get one and stuck VDS name on it. Can't seem to find it anywhere though.

I normally quite like our blue kits but I think this new one is horrible, it looks like a training top and I'm not a fan of hoops at all. I hated the white one when it came out last year and still do, I expect the same to be true of the blue effort.

edit: I like the new home one though.

Looking for the answers...

The players shirts are usually a bit different from the replica ones but this year and last it has been much more noticable. The 2006/07 replica shirts differed from the players ones only really because the wash labels were printed onto the fabric of the inside of the players shirts, other than that they were almost identical.

Last year Nike produced an "authentic" version of the home shirt that cost £90 and had the venting panels under the arms and the left sleeve stripe did not have the red devil at the bottom. The seams were heat bonded rather than stitched. It was the same as the players kits, except (again) for the wash labels which were the same as normal replicas. Basically you paid double to get a shirt that they could have made as the standard replica and indedd would have done in previous years. They made it so the differences between the standard replica and the players shirts were noticable to many people, unlike in the past where you'd have to be an expert to spot the difference.

In short they've done the same this year. Looking at photos from the match, the shoulder seams are different - like on the France and Inter players shirts - and the club crest appears to be printed directly onto the shirt. The retail version is stitched on. I expect the imminent release of another double-priced "authentic" shirt.

Here's the same kind of shoulder thing on the new Inter players shirt:

It seems to be completely unnecessary.
Sorry for the delayed response, but thanks for that mate!!

Quite bad that they've started doing this really, but not overly surprising by the same token!! The differences are actually quite apparent this year, whereas haven't noticed it previously.

I don't, sorry. Just checked a few sites and no one has them. Ebay will be your best bet now.
Thanks decorativereed, Managed to find one on Sports Direct. They don't do normal shipping to Malaysia. No idea who they use but it cost £45 to ship it to Malaysia, near double the price of the actual shirt!! Pity. Would have loved to get the shirt.

I actually quite like those.

I feel since 07/08 our Euro number and letter set has been too generic, those have a bit of style about them
It was clearly supposed to be 1968 style as it was released with the blue third kit so I was surprised it was used for the following two seasons as well. I loved the 2007/08 numbers though. Should have kept them (along with the black away kit from that season). These are a bit too bland. The lettering is not much different and I don't like the pseudo shadowing on the numbers.

They've recently released the new UEFA namesets: Manchester United Home, Away, Third, Goalkeeper and Hero shirts & kits

Not really a fan. They usually look better than the PL names and numbers, but not this year.
Yeah saw that. It was released early last week actually. Forgot to update them here. Not all names are available though, so far at least. Was thinking of going for Smalling or Fabio at some point. Will probably get Park though if it's not avaialble.

So after Wednesday we continue the run of conceding at least two every time we play in that fecking awful white shirt.
It was posted about after the match in here: https://www.redcafe.net/f6/leak-rumoured-2012-13-united-kits-343147/index3.html#post10844034

There was actually a game we played in it where we only conceded one goal (and lost 1-0 to Wolves), but yes, I have failed to find a kit with as poor a record (except for the grey kit, but we only played half as many games in that).
