Losing weight is #NotForEveryone as it turns out

I'm just amazed we had so many people on here arguing he wasn't too big and his size wasn't an issue.

I mean just look at him in the last 12 to 18 months compared to his first couple of seasons at Everton.

He couldn't make a sprint last season without needing 20 minutes afterwards to recover, Inter showed highlights of him playing at walking pace against a team of amateurs the other day and he was drenched in sweat by the end of the video and looked exhausted.

It's embarrassing for a guy who's supposed to be a top striker and athlete to be so out of shape.
Agreed. So many times I've had posters pick on my words for calling him fat, asking for proof of his weight as if they hadn't actually been watching him grow twofold in size with us.

As for embarrassing, I would also emphasize how unprofessional it is. Really, really shocking from a guy talking up a move away from United since the beginning of the summer. What a shame.

Paul Merson today on Soccer Saturday said United should be kicking themselves if they knew the money they'd be getting from Inter ending with no replacement why didn't they just suggest a swap deal to Arsenal for Aubamayang. Yeah, cause I'm sure Arsenal would be happy to agree losing their joint top goalscorer last season for this lard arse.

You don't know, pound for pound it would've been a fantastic deal for Arsenal.
In all seriousness it wouldn't surprise me if Arsenal would rather lose Auba for nothing rather than getting Lukaku.
I can't remember a player as unprofessional as him, I don't think I'll ever forget him being absolutely knackered after one sprint against Chelsea last season.

Admitted in December that he was overweight. Almost 9 months later and he still hasn't gotten into shape and he's a pro athlete. What an idiot
Not sure about the pro anymore or indeed the athlete!

The next couple of months will be an interesting watch. Given he couldn't make the effort in 9 months at Utd if he doesn't break his balls trying to get match fit quickly that love in with Conte could turn sour very quickly.

I seem to remember he was c.90kg when he signed for us, or have I got that wrong?

10kg of extra muscle and a few kg of fat on top of that is quite some growth!

Officially he's supposed to weigh 92-93kg

From 2016
Men's Health: What sort of training have you been doing?

Romelu Lukaku: Lots of upper body work: TRX; kettlebell; medicine balls; lots of core and stability work. I try to maintain the same body weight, though in pre-season I bulk up a little bit because I’m always trying to find the perfect weight to play on. I’m quite fast and explosive, so I really want to test how much I can play well on – at the moment, I play at 100kg. Playing at 99kg or 101kg really makes a difference.

For an athlete that's supposed to be running, what, maybe 100km a week, that's crazy to me.

If you watch some of his displays from WBrom and Everton, he was such a different player on the field. I don't know how he has allowed it to happen. Worse than Higuain.

He came up with some ridiculous comments, like criticizing the training in the PL, that in Italy, they do "real work".
It’s a fact though. Can’t argue united team fell apart last season as Ole alluded to due to fitness issues and Evra said the same thing when he went to Italy.

Isnt Lukaku roughly the same height as Kane? 104kg's seems a lot for a footballer, maybe he got confused and thought he was playing Rugby or something.

Puts into perspective how bad Conte is in the market.

Kante and a few others aside, his record is wretched.

True, somehow he slipped my mind but his story is kind of sad, in my opinion. The guy had insane talent, had one of the craziest left foots I have ever seen.
Lots going on there and he bagan drinking.

That is the problem... he doesnt run. Just points and waits for the ball.

Going by the newspaper articles from around that time, he was already playing at 100 kilogram at Anderlecht as a teenager back in 2011. In the article it's explained he decided to drop down to 97 kilograms by losing some upper body muscle mass to give him better allround stability.

So yeah we've got a guy who was a freak of nature and playing at 97-100 kg as an 18 year old. Now he's a 26 year old and entering his real physical prime, yet some experts come in here claiming his weight suddenly should be around 90-95 kg. That's just so silly when you think about it, I have no idea why people would say that.

Ultimately the guy is just fecked. He's one of the naturally strongest players out there and his physical power is a big part of what made him reach the top level, but as it turns out it's not quite so easy to get such a monstrous physique in prime shape for a whole season.

Love his response tbh. He really seems to think that he's perfect and just laughs off all the criticism.

Imagine your last two striker signings being Morata and Lukaku. Certainly doesn't speak for him having a good eye for a striker

Anyone remember playing the original 2D Gran Theft Auto?

Remember the lorries being one of the quickest vehicles in the game when you get them on a long straight and they start building momentum?

Sorry, a little off topic but it just popped into my head for some reason.
In Vice City if you were driving the tank and you rotatated the Canon and fired it continuously behind you, you could build up some serious speed.
Finally, some decent posts on here.

There was a street race side mission on GTA3 where you could ace it with a fire truck, I remember.

Starting point was somewhere near your initial safe house.

Fire truck, I says.

Oh yes, good times. Best motor was the Sentinal, badass. Original GTA had the White Cossie as well, a classic.

He reads and care to mutch about social media. Look at his lastet instagram story.
I was going to post something similar. Even that IG shows how much excessive fat Lukaku has over his muscles.

He is obviously a colossus in terms of pure strength, but he seems to actually lack functional strength, balance and agility.

I can’t believe all you haters on here going on about Lukaku’s weight. He’s a growing boy after all...

I remember when his weight issues first emerged at United, the game following it he took his shirt off and lingered infront of a camera. I remember feeling he did that deliberately, now I know he did. Deluded character.

D.Silva is stronger than him on a football field, his anticipation and body movements give him a functional strength to evade and keep balanced and standing, Lukaku is just a lump who can't use his strength with craft.
