Any other year I'd say we have to go for the cup, but with our league fixturesbeing so close together, just this once give the first team rest, they need it.

I’d play a 4-4-2, try and hit them on the break

DeGea
Laird TMF Bailly Williams
Andreas McT Fred Lingard
Ighalo James

If the score is tied or we are down one, bring on Rashford Martial Bruno and Pogba on the 70th minute and see if we can steal one.

I’d literally put the U11 on the pitch if I can.

Had we won the Soton game it might have been different but half our team looked shot for the last 3 games and we simply can’t risk the league games with so much on the line.

FA cup is not what it used to be. As much I want us to win the trophy I don't see any reason for us not to rotate and keep ourselves in the position to get top 4. Same with every other national cup trophy these days.

Start:

Romero
Dalot Bailly Tuanzebe Fosu-Mensah
Fred McTominay
Lingard Mata Pereira
Ighalo
You want lingz to start? Are You trolling?

Have to rotate heavily. Bruno, Martial, AWB need take a beat.

I'd start with DDG, Dalot, Baily, Lindelof, Williams. McT, Fred, Pogba, Rashford, Ighalo, Lingard.

Bring on Bruno, Martial, James, Greenwood if we need to go for the win.

A couple of changes. Nothing silly.

It's an fa cup semi final for goodness sake.
Yes it is, and unfortunately it's a tournament that lost much of it's prestige and losing it pales in comparison to lose a spot in the UCL, specially for a team that's desperate to sit in the big boys table again.
Just answer the question to yourself: would you be happy if we won the FA but didn't qualify for the UCL? Would you trade that trophy for the spot if you could? No and yes for me, and I guess the answers are the same to most of the fans, the board, and possibly even the manager and players.
There's too much at stake somewhere else to just go all in this game.

I can offer a different view on this. Since we have 62 points, just like Leicester city, and we have -3 goal difference compared to Leiscter, we have to beat Liescter to reach UCL. Our result against West Ham is more or less meaningless. Allow me to explain.

As far as our next game goes, we just have to make sure we don't lose to West Ham. The reason is even if we draw against West Ham and Liescter wins their game against Spurs, Liescter will be two points ahead of us. We have to beat Leiscter to reach UCL. If we win against West Ham and Liescter wins, we still to need beat Leiscter to go up due to goal difference. So we can play a very strong team against Chelsea and just try not to lose against West Ham.

Play our best 11 for the Chelsea game. It is very unlikely we will lose the West Ham. We have to beat Liescter regardless of our next result against West Ham.

Below is a short summary:

Play the best 11 against Chelsea
Chelsea will most deffinetly not play their best 11 because of Liverpool game. The reason is if United and Liescter win their games and Chelsea loses to Liverpool, Chelsea must win against Wolves to not miss out on UCL.
By playing our best 11, we will more than 50% likely go to Final.
Just don't lose to West ham
Get that 4 days rest and smash Liescter
Let me know what you guys think

Come on, am I the only that thinks our 2nd string is still capable of beating a poor Chelsea team? We can have our strong players on the bench if needed but team B all the way.
Absolutely not. For the big clubs, the FA Cup and the other cup no one cares about have been glorified tests of squad depth and fitness for years.
These teams usually progress in it playing with the 2nd squad or close to that.
Just play some guys who are fit and eager and hopefully they'll do the job.

looking at the team in the last two games it’s clear the players who need rest and those who look very sharp.
Martial and Rashford look like they can play several games in a row. Mason, Pogba, Bruno and wan bisaaka look tired. Matic has had a rest so should be good for the Chelsea game.

Romero
Dalot Bailly Maguire Williams
Matic Fred
James Pogba Rashford
Martial

Then changes made later if we re winning for Rashford, Pogba and Martial to rest.

Liverpool have been giving out free points since they won the league. Since the restart even, I think. Don't be surprised if the scouse scum give Chelsea free points just to feck us up.
It’s their home and they wouldn’t want to lose and unbeaten record at home. Also they will be presented the Epl trophy on that day. They wouldn’t want to disgrace themselves on such a special day for them. They also just lost their last much. They need to react. I am confident in a Liverpool draw atleast

Free point to Chelsea is acceptable, free points isn't. Liverpool has not lost at home for like over 2 years. And they are supposed to lift their trophy after the Chelsea game right? Liverpool will be in form.

Winning our next two games in the PL is without a doubt, the top priority. We cannot afford to lose out on CL again. For reasons both financial and sporting. That said, we can and should rest Bruno, Pogba, Rashford and Greenwood. Fred, McT, Mata and James can fill in, all bringing their own unique qualities to the match. And I don't think Chelsea are that good. Plus wouldn't they want to win their last two games just like us? They won't go gung ho. If the FA Cup got us into the UCL I would be all for winning it. But as things stands it's just the cherry which has no meaning unless we have the cake underneath.

I don't agree at all that our next 2 games are a must win. Before you make up your mind, read my comment above where I explained we have to beat Leiscter to reach UCL regardless if we win or draw against West Ham.

Champions League is worth far more.

Financially, it's €4m to win the FA Cup versus €15m to qualify for the Champions League.

In terms of prestige, it's also more meaningful to be able to talk about being in Europe's top competition.

And in terms of attracting new players - as well as keeping existing ones - I think think there's only one winner and that's qualifying for the CL. Getting 4th place has to be the priority. I'd sack off the FA Cup.

Rather focus on the Europa League than the FA Cup.

Though a trophy is a trophy.

If West Ham win tomorrow they'll be safe, we should have no problem betting them at home next week. I say we make a couple of changes but we 100% go for the cup. Imagine having a cup final v City to look forward to after we secure top 4

If West Ham wins tomorrow, they'll play without any pressue against us. It's best if they lose or draw tomorrow so they get all nervous agaonst us :)

Nah I think if they win tomorrow they'll be on the beer for a week so they mightn't even bother turning up to Old Trafford ;)

:confused::confused: I would not start him. If he starts, let's just say bye to our FA Cup 2019/2020.
Yeh, it is such a time no united fan, player or manager want to be in...to choose between one competition over another. But then you have to swallow that bitter pill and set your club's priority.

I would play not 1 first teamer tbh. The FA cup and League cup really has no meaning left as much as the purists want to say they do. They are nice additions but only additions on top of CL and PL.

I wouldn't go full 2nd string but I'd put in any adequate subs we can.

Mctominay, Fred, James, Bailly, Ighalo should all start. I'd definitely rest Bruno, Matic and Greenwood and then your pick for the other two spots. AWB probably needs a rest too so get Dalot in if Williams still needs more time.

Martial and Rashford look fine and unfortunately we just don't have anyone to bring in for them anyway, same for Pogba really. We should get them off as soon as we can though.

Somewhere in your mind, touching a nerve
We definitely need to rotate. I’d go with

———————Romero————————
TFM——Bailly———Lindelof——Williams
——McTominay——Fred——————
James———Mata————Rashford
———————Ighalo———————-

I would have loved for us to win FA Cup but key players desperately need rest and having them fit and fresh for remaining 2 league games is far more important. One of Pogba and Bruno should start though imo, and one of MMM to go with Ighalo and James. Try to score on counter, keep things tight and if we are still in game late on, try to get our first choice front 4+Pogba on pitch together. Maguire too should be rested.
I guess Chelsea might rotate a bit as well.

I think we should go:
DDG*
AWB Bailly Maguire Williams
Fred Matic**
James Mata**** Rashford***
Ighalo

* I know its the cup but he was world class yesterday. Let him continue the positive momentum.
** Rested yesterday
*** Anyone see him chasing down a lost cause at top speed in the 101st minute yesterday. Fantastic. Love the guy.
**** Best of a horrific bunch of backups, and he scored against Chelsea last season.

Most importantly, we have to rest Greenwood. I wouldn’t even take him to Wembley. He looked knackered and injured yesterday, so let him return fit and firing against West Ham. Considering Chelsea will also rest players due to the crucial Pool game and we have the better squad, I think despite resting 4 of our big 5, we’ll win this game.

2nd string and hope for the best. We will get another one later this decade, the team is running on fumes.

Rest them all! Can't risk it with top 4 so close.

AWB, Pogba, Bruno, Greenwood, Rashford, Martial - ALL needs rest

Just play the second XI. Hopefully it can beat Chelsea:

Romero
Dalot Bailly Maguire Williams
Fred Matic McT
James Ighalo Mata

We can try to win the FA Cup again some other time. But right now 4th place is too big to take a risk!

Why is no body reading my comment above where I explained playing our best 11 against Chelsea and risk not winning against West Ham is a good idea? :houllier::houllier::annoyed::annoyed::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Rest. Bruno and Pogba look knackered - I’m not even sure we’ll get a good performance out of them.

We need to plan to thrash West Ham if possible in case we lose to Leicester.
