Cheers. What's everyone's take on this? I guess a second lockdown was inevitable. If it happens then Scotland might as well have it too. Hopefully we're not back in five months time preparing for a third lockdown because dipshits have ignored guidelines/arsed up the management of this again
Think the government will have been spooked by the latest data/findings presented to them.

But it has felt like a case of ‘when not if’ a second national lockdown would be imposed. The similar announcements from other European countries all but confirmed it. Oddly, probably makes the decision for this government slightly easier.

There is general support for another lockdown so using Christmas as some kind of carrot on a stick could only serve to give people false hope - there’s no telling where we will be.

Why do they always give so much notice before a lockdown? Just makes people go crazy for the next few days, so lockdown will take even longer to turn things round.
I think it's because it goes before Parliament. Announcement on Monday, debate Tuesday, implemented on Wednesday.

Seems to have done the trick in Ireland.

Nice to know. I'm in a tier one county at the moment and all I keep seeing in the local press is cases springing up from schools. Won't argue with that data even though I suspect whatever they announce will be as incoherent and as ineffective as before.

I have to self isolate. My boss , who I share a reasonably small office with (though we are sat about 3 metres apart) has tested positive so I’ve got 14 days from the 26th to isolate. I’m starting to feel rough. I’m very overweight (though I carry it well it like to think ).
I have to admit, I’m more than a little bit concerned
Good luck pal

remember when Keir Starmer was called a “shameless opportunist” for suggesting a national lockdown two weeks ago.

It doesn't matter what Keir said. It's the fact they keep overruling the scientific advice that needs to be interrogated. What actually are they playing at? Is their a plan? If there isn't then what are they basing any of these decisions on if it isn't the science? I assume the answer will be something about the economy but that's a load of bollocks too. Only businesses making money out of this are ones that donate to their party and it's about time that this was brought to the forefront.

Fingers crossed for a waterboarding then...

Fair enough. Where you going?
To the Caribbean. If test positive it will end up being 2 weeks of playing Fifa  The whole changing of protocols, having to get a test prior to going has put me off booking any sort of holiday abroad for at least a while.

I couldn’t imagine the hassle off it & also I was reading about my favourite place in the canaries basically being ghost towns at the moment, everything closed. I mean we could go on holiday and do our own cooking but really who wants that:lol:

Would a months worth of snow be good or bad news at this point. Would stop meaningless travel and keep people inside at least as we see when U.K goes into chaos for a day or two every other year when there's a decent sprinkling across the country.

Think the trouble here is last lockdown co-incided with a pretty nice spring and summer so people could tolerate it more when queueing outside Supermarkets and Banks.

Temperatures dropping next week so not sure how long the tolerance will last this time. They surely can't put limits on exercise this time?

Probably not because other types of coronavirus prefer cold weather so this will likely be the same.

That works in your favour though because the Covids won't be fully awake at that time.

Ignore me, I'm just jealous that some people are able to get away from the mundanity of life.

if Johnson is going to make annoncement next week some time, what's stopping him announcing a lockdown during the US Election result, because all media will be focused in the USA, less focus...

bit of a stretch

Give peas a chance.
I blame the packed flat full of absolute c*nts in the building opposite mine singing at the tops of their voices at 1am. Also, Boris Johnson and the entire Conversative government. Another bunch of absolute c*nts.

Schools have been closed in that time period though. Two weeks up here but not sure about down south. I know you don’t want it to be true but you’re a smart man, surely you can see the correlation?

Kinda depressing to ask but how many 'waves' of this disease do we anticipate? I think I read somewhere that the Spanish Flu had three waves before it burnt out.

Lockdown will obviously reduce the strain on the NHS if the numbers are indeed getting closer and closer to breaking point but it's obviously going to affect people's mental health and the economy which sucks. Not sure what other option there is though.

And we're back. Remind me what time the clapping for this 9th circle of Tory hell feckery starts again?

Ffs. So back into a national lockdown we go then.

I wonder whether a pack of 9 toilet rolls will be going for £10k on eBay again?
