Neither was Anderson, Kleberson, Djemba-Djemba, Bellion etc. And yes he has declined a lot. Annoying that Klopp bought a good striker in good form in Jota just in time.

He's going through his worst patch of form that I can recall

Can definitely see them throwing their hat in the ring for Haaland with Firminos current form. Haanland would probably be one of the biggest transfer battles in recent years with Madrid, Liverpool, City, Barcelona, Juventus, even Bayern if you consider Lewandowskis age and maybe United as well (coz why not) probably needing a central striker in the next season or two. Add to that the fact that there is a release clause a d Raiola is probably gonna make more money from that transfer than all his previous transfers combined.

I think its more likely they spend big on Sancho to replace one of Salah/Mane who will leave. By the looks of it Jota will be their starting ST very soon

I’ve always been a big defender but must admit I’m starting to worry that his best days are well and truly behind him. These days, he doesn’t seem to do much of anything.

It is worrying that his play is almost invisible. I could live with the goal droughts because he kept the team fluid with his play. That’s been missing and it shows by how disjointed we look at times with no link up play that he always seems to provide.
I don’t think Klopp will drop him until the team is floundering in the league, but at the moment we just can’t stop winning. I guess if we were sitting on the other side of the table the switch would have been made. If it was me I would start Jota in Europe diring the group stages.

Same here. I used to be able to see what he offered on the pitch even if it wasn’t goals, but now he just disappears most of the time.

Jota definately should be able to get some starts, but I get this feeling that Klopp is very fond of Firmino. And as you say, we’re doing alright result wise which likely helps Firmino’s case.

I hope people will stop saying how good Liverpool's front three is and just refer to Mane and Salah.

He’s an absolute con artist. Because he doesn’t score any goals, ever other aspect of his game has been inflated as people seem to struggle to compute that he can’t be offering nothing. But these ‘other things’ that he brings - they are nonsense too. Salah and Mané are better in every phase of play, and most of Liverpool’s attacks are them creating chances for each other. It’s not like Firmino is laying them on a plate all game either.

He was good a few years ago, but for a little while, he’s honestly been no better than Daniel James. If Liverpool had signed James Rodríguez in the summer they’d be far better off. Bobby No Goals is shite, and I’m just annoyed they didn’t go through the entire window without addressing it. I was hopeful that they’d not get another forward, but Jota is quality sadly.

Heard carragher finally bring up the elephant in the room a couple of times towards the end of the game yesterday. Knew all it would take was another striker comin in and scoring a couple of goals for people to realise he's been doing feck all for a long time. They had all conned themselves into thinking he was irreplaceable

Imagine my absolute shock. Liverpool lose actual key players, and liabilities like Firmino look, well, like liabilities.

Klopp played the transfer market perfect on this one. Jota brings goals off the bench as needed whilst Firminio struggles a bit. Klopp won’t change a thing while the non stop winning continues. So in that respect Firminio is irreplaceable for now. I think Klopp knows better than you, me , Jamie and everyone else. It will work out... as usual.

It'll be a miracle if James scores 15 goals for us let alone the 79 Firmino has.
He’s scored feck all in the last two years, which is the period I’m speaking of. He scored less than 10 last season in all comps. Rashford is nearly at his last season total already.

Firmino scored 12 last season, 9 in the league, 1 in the CL and 2 in the Club World Cup. Scored 16 in the season before, 12 in the league, 4 in the CL.

I do agree he needs to be doing far more at Liverpool, but comparing him to James is absurd.

Klopp knew he wasn't up to much which is why he wanted Werner.

Should be interesting to see how he reacts to Jota scoring and settling so quickly, I still think Bobby is a quality player, just out of form but I back him to get back to his best

Martial is comfortably better than him, whether you're looking at technical ability, finishing, hold up play, etc. Only thing Firmino beats him at is covering a lot of ground. Scoring two goals today doesn't change that

Lacazette is probably worse than him I'd give you that.

I knew this thread will get bumped.
Pathetic, isn't it?

Suddenly the best striker in the league.

Salah came off the bench for 30 minutes and scored 2 against these and he's not even a striker.

Better than Martial  he's got more talent in his left big toe.

Martial is pure class, going through a poor run of form. Firmino, isn't, never was and never will be class.

Klopp could pick Rhys Williams and Curtis Jones every week. Wouldn't make a blind bit of difference. You'd still walk the league.
Regardless, Firmino has been a top player for years. Was playing very well in the first half of last season too. Been off the boil in 2020 up until the last few weeks where he has looked back to his best.

@Sassy Colin is basically just a being a failed edgelord here.

Thats is the worst thing I've read in years.
Firmino is a very very good footballer. He allround play is fantastic.

He creates so much space for those around him, for Salah and Mane it must be a dream to play with Firmino.

I would swap him with Martial within a heartbeat.

I think Liverpool fans have understood what he brings to the game and seen what a player he is. And I think many others judge him on the odd game here and there and stats.
