First bowler to take 200 test wickets of a left handed batsmen. That is some feat. Also, surprising murali and warne and other 500 plus guys did not take achieve this.
Lot more players bat left handed now.

The pitch is atrocious, England batted atrociously on it and bowled equally as badly, and Rohit played a great knock.

All of those things are true.

Yeah, the only thing I'd add is that I'm not convinced England would have been in the ascendancy had they won the toss here anyway.

Probably not, if you spinners deduced that they'd really rather not use the pitch which is spinning from ball one thank you very much much then you're not going to win a test match.

Sadly predictable performance from Mooen, and not sure if you can hope its just rustiness and he'll get better.

As if the commentators are trying to blame Foakes for a missed stumping when it's spun from outside off stump to a metre past leg.

I'm really not sure what England do with him. He's talented but he's 61 tests in and hasn't figured out how to offer control in between his good balls. When all of us feel that Root is a better option to offer control I can only imagine what Root himself thinks. He offers nothing with his batting anymore either.

Some of his decline is down to how England (under Bayliss) have managed him but some of it is down to how he's applied himself too. I'm all in on Leach as number one spinner, with Bess and Virdi as a long-term development options as number two and number three spinners.

Whole lot of whining about the pitch tbh.

India also get this kind of pitches when we go there and it's fair enough. Every team makes pitches to their best use.

At least an India win here will keep the series interesting

Absolutely no issue with that. Home teams should be hard to beat on their home surfaces.

I think the issue is when there's a pitch that looks like it cant accommodate a full 5 day game.

But let's be honest, pitch aside, India's bowlers were terrific and Rohit's knock in the first innings would deserve to win any match.

England have been naive and confused, and their spinners are simply not good enough to compete out here.

I like seeing tough pitches away. It’s the same pitch for both teams and neither control the toss. Away teams losing in the sub continent causes a disproportionate amount of whinging than the other way around.

Yeah I think Mooen's shitness has also had the knock on effect of making Root captain Leach poorly, too, who has offered far more control and who you can probably afford to have more men around the bat to.

That match I've linked finished in two days or so. I think it's just that every team takes advantage of home conditions. Only Australia I think makes pitches which are just awesome to watch.

England and NZ - both leave a lot of grass on the pitch.

Asian teams - spinning

I would like to see ball tracking to see if England have been cheated out of a 3rd wicket

The Kuldeep selection for that test is one of the most baffling decisions in recent memory.
You clearly aren't aware of the random selection process that kohli and Shastri employ.

I do think that series what have been very different had Bumrah been fit for the first two tests and I'm expecting a very, very good series this summer.

It depends on your view on what test match cricket is supposed to be. There are two types of wickets

im personally not moaning about the wicket, I’m saying since I started watching test match cricket in the 80s times have changed massively. Over the years I’ve enjoyed watching sir AC as much as The Wall.

it’s just a personal preference, I haven’t enjoyed watching test matches thatend in 3.5 days (that’s county level in my opinion) or wickets that would never offer a result after 5 days. I’m not English or Indian, just love test match cricket. If you’re after a 20/20 match then sure great wicket (just my preference not saying I’m right just saying what I enjoy watching) it’s a horrible test match wicket for day 2. Just stating a fact

The problem with this match is there was a heavy favourite to win it by the tea break on day one. That doesn't make for very interesting sport.

It's gonna leave us in a good position to have an interesting series though.

I expect next two matches to have spinning pitches too given the way this match have played out.

Sure but one is under lights right? And India might not win the toss both times.

We've excellent pacers now. I expect Siraj to be the breakthrough star if he plays all the tests.

Yeah one is day-night.

I also don't think that toss played a match-winning role in this match.

India have every right to prepare a wicket that is best suited to them . I think most England fans expected the team to struggle against spin & lose 4-0 so I think it's wrong to think that they are moaning just because of the loss . This pitch is a bit extreme though and even the Indian commentators have said that they haven't seen a pitch like this .
India deserve to win because they have played better cricket but I do think that teams shouldn't be allowed to do absolutely anything with the pitch just for home advantage

My point is I think on spinning wickets if India win the toss, the game can get boring very quickly. Cause if you put on a decent score you will win.
