Honours

Premier League: 2012-13
FA Cup: 2015-16
UEFA Europa League: 2016-17

A few Community Shields in there as well.

The mans done more for the club than anyone of us sat behind our laptops/phones but yea his whole life is a sham. . .

Did he turn into the Duncan Edwards we were all led to believe he would? No but I doubt he’s wanted to be injured as much as he has been & the club hierarchy chose to pay the man.

A fitter, younger Jones sh*ya on our current CBs & has actually done something of note for the club at some point, a little respect for him wouldn’t go amiss.

Absolutely.

A fit Jones is much better than any defender on our books...

What’s honour got to do with it? He has his own future to look after and should milk his contract for every penny it is worth.
He’s been on 2-3 million a year for nearly 10 years. It’s not like he will be relying on soup kitchens if he takes a pay cut to play for the likes of West Brom or Middlesborough. He is entitled to stay and milk it for another 3 years but then he loses the right to any sympathy.

He doesn’t deserve abuse for sticking to the terms of a contract.

Could this be the first season where he doesn't play a single minute of football for us?

He was everything we're now looking for in a centre back - good in the air, strong, good on the ball (both passing and dribbling), decent pace too.

Could play DM and RB too.

What the feck happened.
If 30 passes backwards to De Gea per game means good on the ball then probably almost everyone is good on the ball. It was so frustrating to watch especially when Cleverley was also playing and both of them were doing the same. No forward passes at all.

Beyond mental. We don't even know if Bailly will make it in United because of repeating breaks from football... Dwelling in madness continues.

I will go to sleep tonight safe in the knowledge I will play as many games for Man Utd as Phil Jones this season.

What a mess his career has been. I remember being so excited when we signed him. I love a player who'll leave it all on the line and he truly looked a top defender in the making. What a shame.

No abuse warranted of course. It was our ridiculous decision to keep handing him contracts. Anybody who says they wouldn't take the money in that situation is lying to themselves.

Realized the other day that if De Gea leaves in the summer I think that makes Jones the sole survivor of Fergie's last United squad. That's ....quite a feat.

By my estimation, he has appeared 15 times since he renewed his contract 2 years ago. Great bit of business.

Wouldn't surprise me if Ole has him up and running soon. He obviously likes him and believes he can still play a part for us. Maybe SAF is behind some of it. We'll see. Fact is he's still only 28.

I agree I think we will see him start a lot of games next season. He can cover CB, RB and I am sure he played CDM earlier in his career. Getting a Phil Jones back fit would solve quite a few problem positions in our squad and we wouldnt need to sign anyone.

Can't believe anyone here still says "if he can stay fit...". He's 29 now and this has been going on for 10 years.

Nothing personal against Phil, and he doesn’t deserve any of the abuse or mockery he receives but you have to wonder at what point he sits down and questions whether it’s all worth it, or if it is time to hang up his boots and move on.
As a professional footballer who Can’t play football and hasn’t done so for years, surely there is a point when you question if all the injuries are trying to tell you something.

Thought the same thing, but as long as he's pulling in a paycheck it makes sense for him.

Why dont we loan him to west ham?
Sadly not even Moyes will sign an injured player.

I look forward to his testimonial next season. He'll probably play and get injured for the rest of the season.

He has another full 2 years of contract with an option for a 3rd doesn't he? Until '23 with an option till '24? Nice.

I genuinely wonder what woodward/Glazers reaction is to stuff like this. like, does the penny not drop?
I don't get it. We've accepted this whole restraint with the budget when it comes to recruitment. However, they throw around top notch contracts to players rarely used or injured, which makes the virtually impossible to move. I really think they have a false sense of worth for the squad at times, and it leads to contract situations that spill over onto other players.
