It's just like watching us pre Jan 2020 when Bruno is not playing well. He needs to just keep the ball a bit. Way too many hollywood balls

It's hard to fathom how poor we're passing and how can professional footballers get this far and pass this bad for months.

I thought we started very well. First ten minutes we looked sharp...then it just went to shit. The only highlight were a decent tackle by Lindelof and some silky touches from Shaw.

Every player looks nervous but I’d be a jibbering wreck knowing I’ve got Fred and McT (who I do rate) playing like the Chuckle Brothers in their CBBC pomp.

I think we will sneak through with a decent second half performance. We tend to dominate moments not matches. Hopefully Fred gets placed on the transfer list soon. His first touch and distribution is farcical.

I can't watch this game. Its not even because I'm nervous it's just because I'm bored to death.

So many average players that should be nowhere near this club but I guess its our level now.

Below Average manager + below average players = below average performances.
Do you remember the Southampton game? Leeds? The cup win over Liverpool? 3-1 over Everton? The wins against RB Leipzig and PSG? The second half comebacks against West Ham and Southampton? Because you know, they do exist, even if it's more than 30 minutes since they occurred. Good to keep in mind so that you don't confuse a bad run of form or a slump for the team being shit.

Put money on no sub plan till 70th minute, then 5-7 minutes will go because ball won't go out of play. Saving the subs because we will go into extra time.

That was some seriously technically inept football from 2 sides that are second in their league and I only caught the last 17/18 minute of it.

No control of the ball or possession at all...the midfield need to get a grip of the game! Awful watch so far

We’re playing so badly. I’ve defended Dan James to the hilt (you can go through my posts in his thread), but he is really a selfish, midtable level PL player. The fact that he didn’t put Greenwood through was embarrassing, and he has the cheek to call for a pen after running down yet another blind alley. AWB just can’t play football. Our whole right flank is awful.

Shaw and Maguire have been the best players today. They’ve been that along with Bruno for the past few weeks, but Bruno has been poor today.

We desperately need to improve. Pogba has to come on, and we need to step it up and get the first goal in the 2nd half.
Yeah not putting Mason through looks a fatal mistake right now and certainly adds weight to people who say he has the decision making of a puppy in the final third

yet another thriller, heh? if this was a jose side some people would be taking to the streets...

nothing creative in midfield and - as so often this season - the final ball is appalling, Conference level. Once again Milan are the better side. Oh for Cavani to be there.

Lindelof probably the best United player at the moment...

Its irrelevant how many goals Mctominay scores, he does not belong in a big club, he's a specialist in giving away possession, he always wants to take extra touches on the ball, he always passes to the opposition, he does not even screen the defence well enough, I'm still wondering what people see in him, I believe that with a player like him starting games we will never win a trophy at best he should be a substitute that comes on for the last five minutes in a game, that we are winning by two or three goals.

Real dearth of quality in the team - we're just a bunch of try-hard runners, and Milan have us chasing shadows at times.

Shaw, Bruno and Rashford are really the only players with any technical ability and two of the three look knackered. Our passing is frankly embarrassing.

Milan really should progress from the tie - they are a much better organised side.

Ole’s not gonna make any subs.

he strongly believes our current front 4 will score given how this game is going.

Get Pogba on, take that waste of space James out and turn to 4-3-1-2 with both Rashford and Greenwood as strikers. We won't score even in 6 hours playing like the way we did in first half.

Don't think there are many worse midfield duos out there than that McFred combo. Makes you want to tear your hair out how these two water carriers start such important games for us
My issue is, they don't really do their jobs. I keep seeing people say that they did well in some big games, but this is actually what they do. They endlessly chase shadows, not having the technique to make a tackle, the intelligence to position themselves to force overloads and clearance and not being able hold on to the ball at all. Fred is the main culprit, as mctominay actually has some of these skills, just not the positioning. Fred can't pass, can't win duels, can't dribble, can't shoot...can't even head the ball. Provides absolutely nothing, and people wonder why we aren't better.

Evidence has been clear since project restart, yet people don't want to see it. We dropped both for Pogba and Matic and looked like a dominant team. Matic has gotten older and Pogba is injury prone, but fixing midfield more than anything else is what will take us where we want.

If we put on Pogba early I think he can get us through with a moment of quality.

It's just one goal, one fecking goal and we'll instantly put Milan under massive pressure to return to the game.

We need Pogba, but even without him I expect us to raise our game significantly in the second half, and bag a couple.

It didn't "just go to shit".
AC got into their stride and have taken over. They are the better team for the last 30 minutes. We'll impressed with Kessie.
They are clearly a well coached team.

We looked decent and right at it at the start of the half but that seemed to fizzle out and Milan took control. Don't look like getting the goal we need at thr minute so we need to get some of that spark from thr first half back again.

Yes we are shite on the right because James is ahead of him. We're slowly getting there...

Contribute is not the same as being responsible for getting the ball into the box or being responsible for general attacking down the right. If we had a proper RW for him to work with he look 10 times better. I can't believe I'm talking to someone that thinks a RB is responsible for everything that happens in the final third of the pitch. Please name a RB we've ever had that did that without q proper RW ahead of him.
We could have Jesus Christ on the right. We'd still struggle because fullbacks contribute to the attack. Seriously. Look at the opposite side. Look at Shaw and how much he had contributed to our attack. You can't believe it because I haven't said it. If you have to debase this to a strawman argument then you should reflect on what you're saying. Here's a better idea. Name a top RB in the last 30 years as bad at attacking as AWB. I'll wait.

Boom can't believe it's taken this long for some to spot the problem. It's not the attack, not the defence....it's the midfield...it always has been.
It’s a combination. The midfield is the biggest issue but our wide men are truly shocking. Rashford is incredibly wasteful and James is nowhere near the required quality. I feel for Greenwood the most as he gets hung out to dry without getting any opportunities. Looks technically a class above many in our team.
