Looked every inch our number one.

I compare it to what would DDG do in situations. He commands his box on a different level and takes so much pressure off our CBs.

Thought that was his best game for us. Not because he made any outstanding saves or anything.
The save from Son with the legs, twice he came off his line to intercept through balls. I don’t think Degea does that.

Coming for all the corners and free kicks too.

This guy is the real deal. DDG knows his time is (almost) gone.

It seems like he and Lindelof have good bond, at least on the pitch.

Really solid performance from him, great to see. :D Hopefully De Gea does well again on Thursday, nice to see them both performing.

I have thought that Lindelof would be the one to benefit from Henderson as it will help him in the air, but today we saw how his sweepers clearances helped Maguire as well. Perfectly complementing Lindelof in the air and Maguire on the ground, maybe :)

Sweeper keeper on two occasions and came for a couple of crosses. Used his feet to save well from Son and Kane.

This defence needs a loud, confident keeper. When DDG came into the team we had a monster defence, and a huge fear factor due to SAF. This allowed DDG to settle (eventually) and show his shot stopping ability.

Right now we’re far more vulnerable, and the defence has question marks. We absolutely need a keeper with confidence to settle things.

Yep.

De Gea has clearly worked hard to improve his sweeping over the summer (and it has improved quite a bit) but even still, it isn't as good as Henderson's fairly average sweeping was last year. And Henderson was better than that again today.

Given the improvement De Gea made in the space of one summer, there's no reason Henderson couldn't keep improving in this regard either. Clearly it is something that can be worked on.

Very good game, he came out of the box to clear the ball, commanded his area very well.

Swift shot stopping and nice to have keeper who use both his hands and legs to game saving effect.

I thought he had a great game today. Some decent saves but what I liked most was how proactive he was in responding to danger. I think he needed a big performance in against a top side to really solidify the number 1 spot, and he's done that today.

No.1 without a doubt now. I love the way he commands the box and how quick he is off his line, really helps cover our CB’s lack of pace when he’s straight out clearing any potentially dangerous through balls.

Did fantastic today and out very quick to snuff out the danger.

I know it's become a thing to say if so and so was in that would be a goal or save but De Gea is not coming to clear that potential 1v1 while 1-0 down

This was very noticeable and pleasing from Henderson. He helped his defence make up their minds by being decisive about what he was going to do in response to situations, be it through balls, crosses etc. Also the save with his feet was very important.

You can't ask for much more from him at the moment.

I've never been 100% convinced about him, as playing for Sheff Utd is a lot less pressured than playing for Man Utd, but today there were very good signs.

Honestly speaking I can't get excited about him, seems decent keeper but nothing special yet. This is a good start to goalkeeper career though.

Saying this, surely he is much better all-round keeper than De Gea.

Don’t want to see DDG necessarily go, but there’s just no spot for him right now.
Yeah. I'm far more emotionally attached to De Gea but realistically I can't see how we don't have Henderson as #1 next season, which means De Gea has to go.

At this point I'm just resolved to hoping De Gea can bow out with some good performances on the way to winning the EL with us.

Id be worried if I was De Gea, Henderson is really making a case for him being number one 1. If he keeps up I can see us trying to ship De Gea away in the summer.

Exactly. DDG has provided us with so much joy over the past ten years, but the solidity Henderson imparts into the defense cannot be understated.

It would be fitting to have Dave depart after another European title for us.

his best game, and his first real big performance (good saves, good sweeping, tough opponents, no mistakes).

It means we can push the defensive line up the pitch.

I really hope he's not another pickford but Deano looks confident without being too cocky, still too early to judge but deserves praise for his display today. Maybe he will make mistakes but so did DeGea in his debut season or two, and that can make him ultimately great keeper. Get another solid CB next to Maguire and more clean sheets and confidence will come.

Really good today, his command of his area and his level of confidence is something we've lacked for a while from our keeper. His personality and even maybe his level of ability do give me slight Joe Hart vibes but as long as we get the 2012 version that's a lot better than De Gea has been for a couple of years.

He needs to sort out his positioning when the ball is wide, and when a cross is coming in. Looked all over the place, and it is that way almost every game.

As far as I'm concerned he's nailed on to be our number 1 next season, him coming off his line is a breath of fresh air!
