This is exactly right, make absolutely no mistake these players and managers have been put in an absolutely ridiculous and tough position.

Many of them have come from working class backgrounds, some of them have had childhoods where they’ve had to travel 6 hours with no boots just to get to training. They’ve been lucky to make a living out of this game and these faceless owners borne in to money intent on grabbing more have hung them out to dry.
The managers and players are being pitted against their own fans, it's heartbreaking to see. Something big needs to change in football in our country, maybe its too late, but we need to get our clubs back.

I don't remember such an outcry when Chelsea and City basically paid oil money to buy the title. How is it different this time? At least now we will be able to compete with them financially with the ESL cash.
Um wake up, I know you were a Trumpite and Glazers are up his arse but in a competition where there is no need to compete because there is no promotion or relegation. Owners like the Glazers aren't going to invest more, it'll be less

If this was some initial 12 clubs where 3 would be relegated and a mini competition each season to replace them the reaction would be massively different. Creating a closed competition where these 12 teams will forever be the only teams that matter and cannot miss out no matter how awful they are is the problem. It is about greed and nothing more.

Why is he laughing at Arsenal? They got destroyed by oil money. Disgusting investment changed the future of that club and are the biggest victims in the league imo. They shouldn't be laughed at. They are the result of the future doomsday scenario that hes peddling and theyre being mocked.
I think it's because they are shit.

Gaz Nev admitting he’s complicit, well yes arsehole, you’re complicit in sitting there wanking over City every week with your head buried in the sand as to what reaction being forced to compete financially with oil states was going to force upon the other top clubs.

Arseholes the lot of them.
This is the most irritating aspect of the whole thing imo. Fed up of seeing everyone toss City off after they spent the equivalent of the GDP of Luxembourg on building a football team. Then we have to listen to Neville having an orgasm live on Sky whenever they string a couple of passes together. Sick of it.

Obertans #1 fan.
People arguing that since UEFA are hardly reputable that somehow that diminishes the arguments against the Super League.

It's a closed competition not based on merit vs. A competition that is at least open to all.

UEFA not being pure isn't a fecking reason to support a franchise model designed to exclude everyone who isn't deemed elite.

Give me a break.
I think the point is that the current premier league isn’t done on merit either. United, Chelsea and City are too big to ever go down.

My mates who support lower prem clubs just... don’t watch anymore. Why would they?

Exactly.

Arsenal were a well run club completely destroyed by City.

The "people will get tired of watching Madrid and Barcelona" argument is stupid. I'd be happy to trade Burnley, West Brom, etc for the European elite teams. I have no problem with that aspect of it whatsoever.

Gary calling out how shit a stadium Old Trafford has become is absolute music to my ears.

Glazers are cancer in every way. How some people defend them is deplorable

Suddenly Nev cares about the state of Old Trafford. Did it suddenly flood yesterday? Because he sure as hell didn't give a feck about it until then.
yeah. that’s the thing i’m finding most annoying. this has been inevitable. the pl didn’t care with their “fit and proper” checks for billionaire owners. show me a billionaire that has gotten there without treading on whomever they needed to to get there. chickens are roosting. people are just annoyed they might not be on the gravy train.

It's happening. And I welcome it. I'd rather watch United play in a top competition against Europe's best teams instead of watching Thursday night football, or worse, watching us celebrating top four finish only to get our asses handed to us time after time and watching the oil clubs battle for the title.

At least now the field will be level, we will be able to match the oil clubs financially.

I'm sure when the CL replaced the EC and when the PL replaced the FD there were a lot of unhappy people too. And listen to all those hypocrites on Sky now talking shit because their employer is going to lose money. Quickly forgot how they were wanking weak in weak out on City's oil football.

what the feck is Carragher on about?

Of course the clubs will still want to win domestic trophies - its silverware..
The difference is now there would be potentially close to 30 European games instead of like 15 if you win the competition. You'd have to pick the league or the ESL.

Yup. First one to slaughter this club for not competing with city and failing to sign x backing mourinho - talking about how we need Haaland/Kane - all the while living in cuckoo land as to how we can afford it. Football is for the fans? How much does a BT subscription cost to watch the CL? How many games are free to air anymore? Where’s the World Cup being played? Cry me a fecking river.
Between 1997-2004 Arsenal won 3 titles and finished second the other 4 seasons, this success made them believe that a new stadium was a smart move. Right at that point a billionaire bought Chelsea, Arsenal simply could NOT compete, then when they finally starting getting to a place again where they could spend, a entire fecking state bought a tinpot club and started using Arsenal as their feeder club.

And now Gaz Nev think he’s funny for mocking them, yeah arsehole you’re complicit in Arsenal being where they are, in a position where they went from regular PL winner to feeder club.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
This is very good. He spoke well and he was nuanced. Football is going to change - uefa and fifa can’t control it. The lack of competitiveness is the problem - and the money needs to filter down the pyramid. Hopefully a compromise will be reached. A nuanced opinion given unlike the two twats in the studio.

Surely UEFA/FIFA imposing any ban will pretty much make the league go ahead.

Likewise any national leagues impose bans and it won't just be a mid week CL replacement it'll be a 38 game league instead.

Shouldn't they tread carefully?
Yeah a threat to ban the 12 clubs from Uefa competition in response to those clubs declaring their intention to not compete in Uefa competitions seems pretty hollow.

How is us just being handed an invite and permanent residence in this Super league better than actually qualifying for it by winning matches?

Exactly this. Its the closed competition that's the issue here, not the general idea of it itself.

European Super League clubs would WIN any court case brought by UEFA or FIFA, says expert lawyer - and he insists the Premier League would also fail if it tried to kick the Big Six out

  • 12 clubs behind European Super League have ALREADY started legal action
  • The breakaway competition says it will fight any attempts to ban it or moves to bring sanctions against clubs or players who participate in the new league
  • And legal expert in competition sports law says they've good chance of success
European Super League clubs have a good chance of winning any legal battle with UEFA if football's governing body tries to block plans for the breakaway competition, an expert has warned.

Legal fights between governing bodies and upstart competitions have been fought before, with courts recently coming down on the side of promoting more competition in wrestling and ice skating, among others.

The 12 clubs, from England, Italy and Spain, announced plans on Sunday night to set up a competition to rival UEFA's Champions League and Europa League tournaments.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/s...case-brought-UEFA-FIFA-says-legal-expert.html
The courts follow the law made by governments that are voted by people that also are fans of clubs.

These teams will become so powerful they could field an A team in one competition and a B team in another, and still compete.

The UEFA president is lawyer too. So he should know what he is talking about.
I really can't understand why some support the SL? Yes the associations have been bad but doesn't mean we should take the side of the SL because the associations have been bad.

Yeah the PL got into bed with Russian gangsters, predatory billionaires with zero morals and middle eastern dictatorships. That was ok as long as they were reaping the rewards. This is the bed they made and now they'll have to lie in it.
Pretty much.

 Klopp agrees with every word of those twats in the studio, he just doesnt have the bottle to jeopardise his contract right now.

Right, because until now his employer wasn't about to lose a lot of money. Don't listen to those hypocrites who all of a sudden take the moral high ground after wanking over City and Chelsea for a decade.

The leader of Real Madrids scandinavian supporterclub thought this was good - because it gave his beloved Madrid a chance to compete against the english clubs again. Funny :)

It's not a stupid argument at all. Watching Madrid and Barca play each other ten times a season will get boring very quickly. The whole allure around these games for most people aside from the rivalries/players is the fact it's a luxury that doesn't come around often. It's to be savoured when it does.
