This is just to appease the fans. They're worried about a fan revolt and any possible impact on the share price it might create.
They can feck right off
Yeah we need to give them a full on fan revolt like we saw from Chelsea last night

I don't accept so many teams, like all the biggest teams in Europe, just 'misjudged' something like this. There's summit else going on.

Maybe fans who are interested in this and fans who follow the financial aspects of the club more closely can DM me, and we can start putting this together?

Am a lawyer by profession, so can definitely write out the letter but don't have the expertise or enough information to get it right without help :)
I unfortunately don't have the expertise either.

Would be nice if someone who did could maybe help,it certainly has merit what you said.

These apologies are all so hollow and self serving. He doesn't give a toss, almost guaranteed he didn't write that, I doubt he even read it.

Football at the top is all about money, these are a bunch of self indulgent greedy cnuts who only want to squeeze it for every penny they can for themselves.

I don’t understand why Joel Glazer is suddenly apologising to fans and I don’t understand why the ringleaders behind the ESL backed down so quickly after taking such aggressive action.

It doesn’t add up. They basically drove tanks to the Houses of Parliament, parked them outside, turned the guns on the building and then skulked off 24hrs later mumbling about being sorry and not realising people would be so upset.

I don’t actually believe for one second it has anything to do with the relatively small fan protests we saw. The Glazers have ridden out far, far worse without even so much as flinching.

I wonder what REALLY went on behind the scenes in the 24hrs after the announcement was made? Did those involved fear the Government would intervene? Did City and Chelsea getting cold feet bring the house down? Where all 12 teams really ever serious?

It could be pressure by United's sponsors. I say this because one of Liverpool's sponsors with drew on Tuesday/Wednesday, also players reactions that they could be banned from the World Cup etc.

Its not even him who wrote that
The person who wrote that walked past Joel Glazer today and heard him talking about how good the letter was so he gave Joel a knowing smile. He was fired 10 minutes later.

Too late clown. As a fan from the US, I can’t wait for the Glazers to be out of my club. This should never have been considered. If they had taken as long to talk to the figures who made this club what it is, as they did producing this sham statement, then they wouldn’t have made such a dumb greedy decision.
Can’t wait to see a full stand chanting for them to go!

I don't read anything into that apology. Unless we now get a proper football man like Edwin VDS in the CEO role from outside the club, the Glazers should be thrown out.

The Glazers need to be build lots of bridges - by begining with paying down our debts to make sure the club is not hanging by the thread on the revenue front.

However, I don't think demands to get them out will get us anywhere - as they are sitting on an expensive asset which cant be liquidated easily.

I think the fans should get together and start a manifesto which we should submit to the ownership, in response to the "open letter".

We should ask for an open consultation with the owners with the following items to discuss:

- Appointment of new CEO
- Plan to reduce debt over 2-3 years.
- Dividend restrictions to ensure annual cash flow for footballing goals
- stadium restoration (to bring it up to state of the art quality)
- reducing season ticket prices (match going fans should think about this) or separate quotas/ concessions for 18 years or below

We are the club that generates massive amounts of money, and there is enough to go around to ensure both the Glazers and the fans are happy.

In my mind - even a 30% reduction in their dividends can transform our clubs competitiveness on the pitch.
That boat sailed. We don’t want them - at all - anywhere near the club

To me the biggest mystery is them thinking they could get away with it to begin with, not them backing down so quickly. It’s the biggest PR disaster in the history of football.

Unfortunately it is not realistic that someone will buy Manchester United in the foreseeable future. So I guess that we have to live with them. Let's see who will succeed Woodward's position and how much they will spend on transfers and infrastructure. I don't have any hope.
They won't decide the spend. The Glazers will.

Never believe a word of it. I honestly think we deserve to be punished, and if it gets rid of them, all the better.

Maybe those incompetence fools didn’t read the fine print of EPL that says you can’t join other leagues/tournaments that are sanction by them and the threat of the government intervening have some thing to do about it.

I really laughed at the "create a more stable foundation for the game" Yep because creating a closed league to keep all the money between 15 teams is really creating a stable foundation for the game as a whole...

First time he’s spoken about United to the media since 2005 when the takeover happened. With all the talk of more fan representation and legislation they are shitting it.

Absolutely, I'm serious about doing this but like I said - not enough knowhow to do this alone. If we can get a group together on the caf who wants to do this, will be a great start.

Some real mature content in here now.
Who's capable of buying this club that ain't just as bad or worse than the Glazers?
It's utopia to think we'll find a filthy rich investor that doesn't care about profits, investors will allways invest for profit, that's just what they do. So let's target FA and try to implement a 50+1 model in England, while we let our club focus on football.
It'll take us a looong way to get to a 50+1 model, so what's the plan while we work on that?
Shout, scream and rage for 10 years? Letters full of FY, FO and Cs won't help the cause, it's just embarrassing, childish and just takes this to the absolute low.

Dearest Joel

It's lovely to hear from you. I heard you were my landlord, and God knows I did hear muffled noises from upstairs, and some disturbing moans, but you never wrote, you never called. Till now. Your dad seems to have been great fun. Now I thought this letter was about the clarification of some details of the offside rule, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that no, you have changed your mind about fecking up the game I love. Great news.

Thanks so much, Joel for your kindness and benevolence. You seem to have been deeply in love with football and the club for the last fifteen minutes. So much in love that you spent three years secretly beavering away upstairs, never a word from you then, you sly devil! You must have thought about me and my fellow fans a lot while planning a Super League to line your pockets and that of your family and buddies, and make European football non-competitive and shite.

Are you going to keep this little line of passionate communication up? Maybe you will be writing me every week, now, checking on how the wounds have healed? Oh and yes. Yes, that's very true. You totally failed to show enough respect for the deep-rooted traditions of Manchester United and football. And now you will change? And now you are sorry? But - I don't care. You are sorry for the wrong reasons, buddy.

This is the world’s greatest football club and you are not part of it. You are only the cancer in its belly. Leave voluntarily or there is a reckoning about to happen, and at the end you won't be writing me letters anymore.

If a PR guy wrote the apology, you have to wonder how he ever got to be a PR guy and why he used such blatant antagonistic phrases like ‘rebuilding trust’.
