This team will be the death of me. But I'll be damned if I don't love these nights and these matches where the desire comes through, when the players show that they care just as much. Brilliant, brilliant second half. Completely different than the one against Leicester. Massive win that'll hopefully give the players confidence and some unity.

Shoutout to a glorious finish from Maguire. I expect the Rashford and Ronaldo finishes but that strike really surprised me. AWB and DDG were also quite brilliant tonight.

It'll be a much harder task against Liverpool but as Atletico showed they aren't impenetrable at the back so I'll back us to get some goals. Let's take this momentum and shove it in their faces.

He basically said despite how good the 2nd half was he couldn’t enjoy it because of how bad the 1st half was. He said the the 1st half was a real worry, he also said can you imagine us playing like that against Pool, City etc
I think we’ll sit in and look to counter against Liverpool. I’d be surprised if we get battered.

We were better ever since their first goal imo. Good performance, we won and created so many chances. Deserved win but our defensive problems showed yet again.

6 points out of 3 games. Another 3 games left now and we need at least 4 points to progress I guess? I hope for more than 4 obviously, with the players we've got our aim should be winning at both Atalanta and Villarreal.

The highs this year have been as high as we've been in a long time. Just in terms of the atmosphere and the belief in the stadium. The lows have felt depressingly low though. We got to ride the Ronaldo wave for as much as we can.

Crazy game. What a comeback!

On the second goal it was a bit odd. Cavani ducks under it but he hardly gets a shout from Maguire given the amount of players between him and the ball.

Dig up stupid!
1st half we're wasteful on the final third.

Atalanta did feck all, but every chance they got they score.

2nd half we showed them who's the boss.

I'm baffled by comments saying we're clearly outplayed. No chance
Absolutely
Tbf to Atalanta the first goal was an excellent bit of play, the reverse pass to the full back was gorgeous. Cracking goal
The second goal was a set piece

We had just as many chances and probably better ones too but rashford in particulars radar was all over the place. And toward the end of the first half the nerves were creeping in.

Fair fcuks second half we were at it right from the off and didn't let up. People can complain about parts of the performance but to suggest we didn't deserve to win is total bollocks

At least we have given ourselves a good chance to get out of the group now, Zidane can win the CL with these boys if he comes in at christmas.

what did he say
What he say?
A quite long statement on how bad we were in the first half, how a better side than Atlanta would have left us in the wake with the chances they had, how worried he was about the coming weekend, how badly we measure up to proper teams like City and Liverpool etc.

I agree with him to a slight extent to be honest.

I remember that Ferguson wrote that the United he inherited was used to live on the excitement brought on by cup runs.

We're not much different now. Matches like tonight will give some energy. But that's all we've got.
Yeah, there's nothing sustainable about what we jusr saw, it's just gas and the hype from the crowd, Scholes pointed out that they were missing 5 players, they're a fun side but hardly a big gun, and we just scraped by.

Strange first half, we were awful but we didn't deserve to be down by two goals. After the break we were excellent especially going forward and full credit to Ole for whatever he said to the players at the interval.

I will take a break from Oleouting, can only be happy for this result, so happy for the feeling of winning coming back like that!
First half I was ready to switch off and go to bed.

I said it in the Match Thread forum: the match will end 3-2 and people will defend Ole.

I think in reality, we actually attacked well in both half’s. In the first our finishing cost us.

The issue in the first was our defending. And that wasn’t fixed in the second half. Atalanta just sat back. What changed was we took more of our chances in the second.

On another day we really could have scored 6 or 7 such were the chances we created.

Belting game! Excellent second half, especially in commitment and application terms. A bit unlucky to be two down at half time, though we remain generally too easy to get at and we overcommit in attack too early in games, especially at home. To my mind that is not that hard to sort out and it isn't really even about personnel. They did sort it out second half.

Expecting a bit of a mixed ride this season.

Ask any neutral who was the better team from start to finish, and they'll tell you it was us. But of course people here are gonna continue to moan. And if nothing else it proves at least Ronaldo is fully behind Ole. Not just the goal but the intensity of his performance today from the start.
Could have battered them with a bit more composure in the attacking third and some better defending in the final third. Aside from the 3 goals there were 6 or 7 other great chances.

They scored 2 from set pieces, the only 2 chances they really had and aside from DDG making 2 saves in the second they offered nothing else. Aside from the 5 or 10 minutes before half time when the game dipped, they were second best all night.

Even at 2 nil down it always looked like they were there for the taking. Second half was brilliant, I love a comeback win and once Rashford scored it just felt inevitable. Great win and it shows that these gobshites can turn it on when they want.

Brilliant second half, cannot fault any part of it. Ronaldo playing left-back, running all over the pitch. Bruno found his passing range by dropping deeper. Fred was getting the tackles in. I think AWB had his best game. He was constantly piling forward. Rashford got a sweet goal. Ronaldo got his glory. Take this spirit and energy into the weekend.

Rashford's runs in behind showed exactly why he starts. His finishing was off but that's two games in a row he's gotten through just like that because his pace and movement gets him on the end of chances.

This is what it means to be a United fan nowadays. No trophies, countless weekends ruined, wasted seasons but punctuated by moments like tonight. I've made my peace with it. As a 38 year old, I've seen enough title wins to last me a lifetime.

I just hope by the time my 3 year old grows up, we've pulled our finger out and he gets to experience something close to what I experienced in the Fergie era.
You sound like a mercenary, time to collect a paycheck somewhere else.

Upset that our UCL hopes are still alive and can be taken further when a new coach comes in?

No. Elated.

Worst thing would have been to have to write the season off - thanks to Ole - in October.

Try enjoying life mate, you'll be better for it.

We just won for Christ sakes!!

Sounds like you've already written the season off, bet you'd given up at half time tonight too?
Be honest, were you happy at full time, or did you have a sinking feeling?

Sorry guys, but we won. Must hurt this forum a lot, but i for one am over the moon! Fantastic second half.
I'm absolutely over the moon over the win, it's CL and it's just so important that we go through to avoid Europa if anything.

However, with joy I'm still worried for Liverpool, our defensive side is very leaky. Overall situation doesn't change in the slightest.

What’s with all the lucky talk? We had enough chances to win 3 games.
De Gea still had to do plenty as well. We threw caution to the wind and then and it came off. The structural issues still persist.

Scholes didn’t enjoy the second half. What’s the point of being in the CL if you can’t enjoy nights like these?
He'd find like-minded folk on here. Half the replies are joyless cnuts being semi-peeved that a great comeback has derailed the misery train.

Is it just me or is Peter Schmeichel super annoying as a pundit to everyone else as well?

Much, much better tonight. Even in the first half we attacked and had chances, okay the defence let us down but it was so much closer to how I see us wanting to play. We blew them away in the second half, we have the players here to make something of this season.
If we played like that more regularly I’d have no reservations about Ole, buzzing after that performance.

Enjoyable win. It’s not sustainable long term if we plan on competing for biggest trophies, but it was very entertaining end to end stuff. It would be nice to have a controlled 1 or 2 nil win now and then with these moments in between!

How many more times are we going to lose or need an individual player to save us?

Sack Ole and bring in Rogers or Conte now.

Its so predictable what will happen if we don't act now.......We will continue to scrape results/lose until Ole's position is unsustainable, he will get sacked, by which point the new manager needs a miracle to catch the league leaders and we lose another season because of bad ownership.
