They say it's not positive to obscess over the past but with our recent failings i cant help but to do so.
Mine are the Madrid 12/13 match were we played superbly and were fecked by that decisions (i still think it was wrong) and the bayern game in 9/10 were we were superb and similarly got screwed over after Raphael got sent off (that game also ruined Rooney and derailed the rest of our season)

There are many games that I'm still pissed off about like the Porto tie, bvb semi final and that leverkusen semi but those 2 piss me more due to how recent they were and we having a good chance going all the way and winning it, especially 12/13 as it was fergie's last year.

Other club fans are welcome to post the game they're most spiteful over as well or maybe it's not a club game and an international one.

Ok folks vent your frustrations .

United away in the 2011 UCL. I mean we deserved to lose but that appeared at the time to be the old guards last chance at that trophy up in smoke.

Thankfully fate had other ideas.

The 2005 FA Cup final was painfully frustrating. You could just feel that Arsenal were going to nick it in the end.

‘09 vs Barca.

They had the rub of the green getting to the final (awful ref the round before vs Chelsea), but it was all lined up for us.

The first club to retain the CL in its current format. A third CL for Fergie. A third league and CL double too. We were also unbeaten in the CL since 2006 semis. Wasn’t meant to be.

09 CL final. Would have been the first team to retain the champions league in the modern era and would have beaten that great Barca team. Plus unlike in 2013, we had the tools to win but just didn’t show up.

Well you lot had the last laugh I suppose, beating of a team that prevented our ambitions materializing on the previous two occasions on the way as well.

It just was one of those games, after the we failed to win it inside the distance I knew it was gone.

Kinda gotten over that one, we simply lacked in the personnel unlike our 2008/9 team.

I'm still adamant that the bogus fletcher suspension did us in.
Our other midfield options were simply no match , what a shame.

Gaz. Is a Mewling Quim.
FC Midtylland 2 Manchester United 1

The only player on the pitch that day that I had any respect for after was Sergio Romero. All of the rest of them were useless fecks and it was the deathknell for Van Gaal too (rightly)

Tbh it's been a consistent and gradual series of disasters, disappointments and embarrassments. No single game stands out.

That's a strange one, we gone up nonetheless?

Oh yea, forgot about his suspension. Who knows if it would make a difference, but Barca getting to the final itself was a bigger travesty of justice given Chelsea should have at least had 2 penalties. Maybe 3. (Also, who knows - Chelsea may have won the final this time round too).

I would have loved our chances a lot more against Chelsea (with hindsight of course) as we finally seemed to find their number and had beaten them pretty comprehensively in the league as well(3-0)
Alas it wasn't meant to be.

There have been quite a few where we’ve just not shown up like Seville under Mou but the worst for me was Leipzig. I don’t mind the Barca loses, I’d rather be beaten by a better team than go out because we fecked up.

Knowing we could sit and counter Leipzig to great effect after the first game, the cowardice in going to a back 5 because we could get through with a point is something I don’t think I’ll ever forget.

We'll never truly know but I feel the Hiddink factor (his meh second spell means it largely goes under the radar just how good a manager he was at his peak, he brought back the aura of invicibility we had under Mou 1.0) would have got us over the line.

If you’d been stood there freezing your bollocks off watching ten players stroll around not giving a feck and playing Van Gaal ball when they did get it you’d probably felt the same. They were crap AND in pre season. Abysmal unforgettably awful stuff
Oh ok that makes sense, didn't consider the possibe environmental effects in there.

That stretch of football was simply dreadful, couldn't bear to watch the team anymore, at least we won a fa cup at the end.

CL Final 2006 was the most crushing by some distance...especially when 11 v 11 we would've possibly run away with it.

The infamous Birmingham game I missed the first 80 mins, and caught the worst bit (apart from Eduardo's injury)

6-0 v Chelsea in 2013/14 when we were well placed for a proper challenge in the business end.

Sagna's injury v Chelsea in 2007/08 after scoring in the first half - I sensed that we were going to cock up the challenge then.

Bradford loss away was ctastrophical.

2002-03 last 5 games were gut crushing. feck Viduka.

The Sevilla game under Mourinho and the football heritage speech that followed. Really exposed us as a clown club and gave some hard-hitting truths.
Same. That was when I accepted that we were now on a slippery slope and that the glory days were over.
Parking the bus to a side that were the La Liga equivalent of Everton or Stoke.

A team patched together with tape went on the longest run without conceding the CL - go figure.

I did enjoy seeing Eboue one up Zizou, Ronaldinho and Cesc wiping the floor with Vieira, Davids, Guti, Riquelme...shame.

in some ways it was the 3-1 to pool at the end of Jose's reign

not only for the realisation that we were utterly dreadful, but also seeing that Liverpool were finally becoming a great side again

It's a close call between:

- The home Premier League defeat against fellow strugglers Bolton in 2011/2012. A toxic atmosphere all around with Steve Kean feeling the full fury of the fans, and that defeat really hammered home the fact that we getting relegated, even though soon afterwards we got a draw at Anfield and then won at Old Trafford on Fergie's 70th birthday.
- The home Championship defeat against Burnley in 2013/2014 - the first time that they beat us after 34 years. We hit the post when leading 1-0 and the tide turned. It also further signified (though that was already clear with Burnley racing towards automatic promotion) how Burnley had comfortably leapfrogged us.

Even though most teams were shite that year (Chelsea should have beaten barca i thought) it was a very impressive run, beating juve and Madrid on the way but alas uefalona strikes again.

That was the Cuneyt Cakir game right? That was the first game to jump to my mind too. Every time I see him refing a game it reminds me of how he fecked us over.

Not sure it was necessarily the worst, but the sheer ineptitude of the 2-2 against Fulham under Moyes was something to behold.

Yeah , that game made all of my worst impulses go off the charts (im not proud of it  ).
I still think he was paid off , he also did the 2015 final and that has some controversies in it as well.

Was this the one with the 400 crosses? I couldn't believe what I was watching...never saw footballers mutiny so effectively before.

About a dozen CL games.

Dortmund, home and away, total domination over the tie, about 50 shots(no exaggeration) mutiple goals disallowed and woodwork hit, huge chances spurned, and Dortmund won both gmaes with deflected goals. Complete travesty of a tie.

Madrid in 2000, should have retained the CL, were the best team in Europe and allowed a relatively mediocre Madrid team to exploit some naive defending and go on to win the trophy.

Leverkusen.

Porto.

The CL has given us great highs and terrible lows.

The bvb on hurts real bad because it was cantona's last chance to do a clean sweep and win a European cup as well.
I love Fergie but I really think he failed to capitalize on our dominance and extrapolate it to europe as I feel we were truly a dominant team in that stretch of 1998 to 2003 .

That Madrid 4-3 game stands out as well, easily the best team in competition m demolished one of the finalists in juve , top the group both times and with the final being in old Trafford be poised to go all the way, yet somehow throw it all away in that idiotic game.
