I want to say Barca 10-11 but Bayern 12-13 was a machine as well. Tough call, going for Barca because they had prime Messi who would literally dribble past the entire team to score.

Where does it mention single season?
It lists all the clubs and gives a single season reference

e.g. it lists liverpool as 83-84 and the text says

The current Liverpool team has a long way to go to match the dominance of their 1970s and 1980s sides.

It was hard to hone down which was their best season in a time they won 10 league titles in 15 seasons from 1975-76 to 1989-90.

The Reds also won four European Cups in eight years, ending in their 1983-84 treble of the European Cup, beating Roma on penalties in the final, First Division title and League Cup.

That was Joe Fagan's first season in charge having worked under the legendary Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley.

Ian Rush was their top scorer with 47 goals in all competitions. There was a big Scottish presence through the spine of their team with Alan Hansen, Graeme Souness and Kenny Dalglish all crucial players.

The crazy thing about that golden period for Barcelona is that their attack in 10-11 wasn’t as good as the MSN pairing. That fan base has been blessed beyond belief for the better part of a decade and a half

Doesn't state anywhere in there that they are picking teams based off a single season results. Does it?

That got us thinking about the game's greatest club sides of all time. We have profiled 10 legendary teams - with only one great side from each club - and you can vote for the best at the bottom. If you select 'other', let us know which side you would have picked in the comments.

Could make an argument for United, Ajax, Milan and Barcelona in that list in my opinion. Voted for Barcelona though because they were just insanely good

I think in this list it seems unfair to leave aside Juve's mid '80 and mid '90 teams.

Barca 2008-2012.

There was just no point in playing them.

They won the sextuple didn't they? Quadruple is a nothing.

I dont think any team can best Barca 10/11 team, they were simply perfect the core of its players was dominating international football too.

You can say that it's a crime to mess with that proven backline but Alves certainly has a more impressive resume than Tassotti (and they can certainly afford to have a more offensive fullback considering how great the rest of that backline is)

Gullit - van Basten - Messi
Iniesta - Xavi
Rijkaard
Maldini - Baresi - Costacurta - Alves
meh
I'd pick Puyol over Billy Costacurta, man was a true leader. Otherwise a very scary team.

I voted 99.
Aside from us its probably milan.
That early 60s benfica side deserves a mention as well.

Edit:someone already alluded to it, juve's 80s and 90s side were spectacular.

Voted us but in reality it’s Barca.
I mean just look at that team. When you already have Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Puyol and others and then you still go on and buy David fecking Villa!

Im voting utd even though its barcelona because the dippers will be voting for themselves regardless and will then claim that their side was better than the 99 side as evidenced by the poll.

Why is Barca 2011 considered better than Barca 2009? Serious question.

2009 had better front line (Eto'o and Henry >> Villa and Pedro), scored more goals and won 6 trophies in one year.

Is it just because they humiliated a Poor Man United in the final? Our team wasn't good enough then and was already declining, we only made the final due to beating poor opposition which made Barcelona look better than they were.

In 2009 people thought we were the best team in the world and we were still made to look like amateurs.

That Barca side has perfected the football. Crazy to suggest that Milan or Utd for that matter were better at any stage.

I voted for us for obvious reasons but Barcelona 2009-12 is the answer. That side pretty much won Spain the World Cup and Euros. Phenomenal side. City are getting there, though, unfortunately for the rest of us.

Constantly at the STD clinic.
Kids nowadays will never know how dominant Torino 1945 was!

Seriously though, why include that in the poll? Who could possibly have watched enough of it

Messi was better in 2011 & Barca didn't get through the semi-finals by luck. And I still believe that Barca was the best side in the world that season but Chelsea were a better team over those two legs.

Wait what? there are people that seriously think the pool team is better than United's Team of Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez, Scholes, Nani, Carrick, Vidic, Rio, Evra, VDS etc all at their peak?

There's only Salah for Tevez and perhaps Trent that get in that United team imo.
VVD, Fabinho would certainly get in too ahead of Carrick/Vidic.

From what Ive seen very comfortably Pep's Barca. Also illustrates the beauty of football; the best team doesn't always win.

Barca 11, they made other good sides look utterly helpless, I think they impose their style of play on any other team ever and smother them to death. It wasn't often particularly exciting, there was very little drama to it, but they controlled tempo and the ball like no other team, and really the only argument against them is an incredibly fortuitous win for Inter given the circumstances surrounding that run.

They would have brutalized our 99 side, and I love that team more than any other Utd group for their heart and fight but they were nowhere near good enough defensively or positionally disciplined to handle that style of play, go at them and play an end to end game and they have a chance against anyone but Barca 11 just removed variables from the game.
