The blatant disregard for Antony’s numbers in the Champions League is completely bizarre.

Why is everyone just ignoring that and focusing on his stats in the Dutch League?

I know it’s because his numbers in the CL look good, so it doesn’t fit the narrative, but to act like they just don’t exist is very weird behaviour. And it’s not one or two posters doing it, it’s pretty much the majority.

Pretending the CL doesn’t exist because you don’t like a player’s shithousery. Weirdo summer on the Caf.
It's weird, isn't it, the disregard for Antony? I think he is better than Raphinha, who is the Caf's latest obsession. If we can get Antony for €50-€55M I think it would be great. No way Ajax are really asking for €70M, that's just insane.

Yes, I think he will be next through the doors but only if we can get him for the price you mentioned.

We don’t have many “exciting” players. All for this signing to get some flair back in the team.

People will genuinely make shit up here to fit their narrative. Antony has good numbers in the CL? Oh it's because his CL group is shit mate even though Dortmund and Sporting is in it. Meanwhile we barely qualified from a group with Atalanta, Villarreal and Young Boys.
That's the thing. Manchester United had the easier champions league group. Only advanced due to Ronaldos goals. People forget if it wasn't for Ronaldo Manchester United would of been in the Europa league

What I've read about him is that he's more of a touchline winger than an inverted one so that's also going to affect the stats

Ajax CL group actually was of EL quality. We got 18 points, scoring 18 goals. Dortmund was total garbage at that point, we beat them 4-0 and 1-3. Antony’s Numbers are inpressive, but so are Steven Berghuis’ coming from midfield. When it mattered most, in two games against Benfica, Antony was invisible
But is Ajax's CL group of worse quality than Eredivisie? If not, why discount his good stats in CL but then consistently bang on about how poor his stats in Eredivisie looked? I understand discounting stats from a much weaker competition like most PL teams discount League Cup performances, but the CL? Seriously?

I am not saying that you did, but a lot of people here will justify themselves doing so just because of what you said.

I agree but I don't think he's that exciting. I've been watching more and more of his games outside of highlights and he really reminds me of Ziyech in the sense that he lacks the power and pace to consistently take on his fullbacks. Barely any dribbling, despite his impressive flair. I don't see the potential in him. Honestly I'm not to keen on having him here. I'd rather we look somewhere else.

I think he will be, but you have obviously seen more of him than me. Can you elaborate a bit more?
He is a flair player, which is great for any team and I think especially United could use one right now. He is flashy, has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, which makes him great to watch in the highlights. He is a great dribbler and has decent amount of accelaration and top speed. However, I doubt whether his dribbling and flashyness translates to the prem, as he will get a lot less time and will be faced with stronger opponents. That combined with his relatively weak physique and low shooting power makes me doubt whether he is up for it, al least right now.

I do see other Ajax posters being more positive about his chances in the prem, so it could very well be me that is misjudging the situation.

EDIT: I think what also plays a role in my estimation is that I've been too positive about attacking players making the step up from the Eredivisie to the prem in recent years. I really did think that Bergwijn, Ziyech and Donny would be great here, but it hasn't worked out for them. Maybe that's why I'm more reluctant in expecting Antony to succeed. Mind you, especially Bergwijn and Ziyech were very impressive in the Eredivisie, a lot more so than Antony is in my opinion.

I thought Timber was dead in the water? (For this window at least)
This is still yet to be confirmed to be honest, he is yet to give an answer to either Ajax or United, he's on holiday

To use the words of Di Marzio, it does seem the will of the player will be decisive in this potential saga.

Why don't we just buy the club and loan all their players to us? It's probably easier and less complicated at this point if we want to sign half their team.
We are in discussions with Martinez because Timber didn't want to come. We only really want 1/2 players out of 23.

Who was last player who went in war with his club over transfer to us? I remember that Rojo put transfer request and that is it.

He doesn't need to go to war with Ajax to get a move. There's been reports stating he and his reps have asked Ajax to sit down and negotiate a fee for him. If he wants to move and feels he's ready for a step up, then it's logical to let him go and extract as much money as possible for him. I think he'll be sold for £50 to £55m.

I think Antony is the one we need most out of all 3 targets from Ajax. I don’t think we should be signing 3/4 players from Ajax though… sends the wrong impression. They’ve been good in there league but could fail to adapt to the premier league. We need to scout other leagues aswell and more competitive leagues… we should scout serie A for some defenders as the Italians are normally solid at defending.

If Martinez is a fit for the DM role then I'd place him ahead of Antony personally

Ajax haven't only been good in the league though, they've been excellent in the CL, which suggests they are more than good enough for the PL

Think this will get done for €50m + €15m in add ons but its going to get messy between him and Ajax before they let him go.
I sort of don't understand why for Antony. They have a readymade replacement in Bergwijn which they are close to getting. Making a big profit on top of that too.

This is the signing that gets me most excited . Trickey quick winger who loves taking on a player and has that bit of flair about him. Thats why i support Utd because we let players like that shine on the grand stage .

That doesn't sound like the CAF at all
