Eriksen is three years younger. Ronaldo was signed with an option as is nearly every new signing we make
I know Eriksen is 3 years younger and if he slows down by the end of this season and we are looking to move him on, it will be difficult for us. 2 year + 1 option would have made a lot more sense for Eriksen too. Was just being tongue in cheek with that comment about us not knowing about options.

Saying that I hope we don't go for this guy. If he is being brought in as a back up for this season that means we are banking on Sesko to come to us next year and that deal is nowhere near set in stone.

Arsenal sign Jesus
Spurs sign Richarlison
City with Haaland
Pool with Nunez
Chelsea with Sterling

You just couldn’t make it up with Arnautovich
Remember when people said no to Richarlison and Nunez in June/July. Good times.

Probably about right given where our standards have fallen to. If this guy comes in, seriously I think I'll finally give up.
Yep, 3 out of 4 signings from Bologna, Brentford and PSV.
Not saying you can’t sign good players from those clubs but they are piss easy deals to make. It was either us or the LB going to Lyon, striker staying at Bologna or midfielder staying at Brentford

We have Martial back from loan. Almost like a new signing.

That would make at least a modicum of sense, I don't love the idea of signing Arnautovic at all but if it's a 1 year stop gap until Sesko then that would make some sense. 3 years, even with an option on the third year, would make none at all.
Agreed

martial is hurt. ronaldo is out the door. rashford looks like he'll never get his form back. we played bruno as a false 9. sesko has better offers. we should take anything we can get at this point.
And why doesn’t a capital letter automatically kick in after a full stop on Red Cafe?

Rangnick still trying to act as a consultant by pushing players he has managed onto us?

You don't replace mediocrity with more mediocrity. That won't get us out of this mess. It's just throwing another average/below average player into the squad.

Well atleast the club played a blinder in leaking this today. Takes the focus away from our terrible performance today.

I'm loving the meltdown over this

Cheering you a dismal match earlier.

Early early days.

All good everyone crying about this but he would actually improve us.

Apparently ETH and his assistant worked with this guy during their time as FC Twente it seems. So not Ralph I guess.

It’s extremely concerning that the club is in this position. Murtough needs to get a hold of this if he hasn’t started to already.
New season, same issues
How are we this inept at planning  :(
It's just awful planning isn't it? I mean, it might work as a stop gap solution, but you have to ask yourself how did it come to this for the 10th time in the last decade.
I don't know man. This has sucked the life out of me.

To see how inept we are. Not buying a CM in Jan, or now and not buying an attacker.

I give up. We all know how bad it is. Yet it's worse.

I thought he was younger than 33.

But even if he was a little younger, ETH talks about getting "the right player", I don't think Poundland Zlatan is the right player.

Maybe a source said we're getting someone from Austria, meaning the Austrian league, and they misunderstood them, and thought an Austrian?!

That’s because he’s like the fourth choice striker on his transfer list.

Poundland Zlatan.
Exactly that, similar player but leagues apart.

We can do miles better but given the positions that need strengthening back up striker clearly isn't seen as that much of a priority.

United should hijack scamaca move to west ham and sell Marcus rashford. Ronaldo plays better with another striker besides him
Do you have a time machine or something ? Scamacca signed for west ham 2 weeks ago. He's even on the bench for them right now.

It’s just rinse and fecking repeat at this club until all these shit twats either leave on a free or retire. I’m only 44 and I’m honestly starting to worry whether I will see this club on top again before I kick the bucket.

Gives me hope that this isn't true.
These quotes are actually even more worrying than us being linked with Arnautovic. They imply we are happy with our options which is the absolute worst case. Rather get Arnautovic than no one and I really don't want him here

Ighalo, Cavani, Arnautovic.

It fits the pattern. The club wants us to keep buying cheap grandads to tide us over. There is no money left at the club.

I'm not sure we'd be buying a 60m defender or another LB if that was the case

Plenty of money left (£’s)

50m on Martinez
65M on FDJ
18M on Malacia

That’s 120m there

40M on Sesko allegedly and we still want a RB.

There’s money available.

On the bright side we're still in the running for Sesko. We Arnautovic yet.

That is the mentality: Ronaldo, Martial, Rashford

If Arnautovic comes one of them have to leave

Why couldn't this be done weeks ago? What's changed apart form the Martial injury?
