Is Ronaldo justified to say that he “feels betrayed” by Manchester United?

Also don't know why anyone would read anything into him saying about how there's been no progress at the club since Fergie left. Any idiot can see that is the case, but it has nothing to do with him throwing his toys out of the pram, he's just saying it to give his side more credibility, when it's totally irrelevant to what he's otherwise saying.

The irony that's probably lost on Ronaldo is that if Utd had been flying on all cylinders winning the league every season, they almost certainly wouldn't have been interested in re-signing Ronaldo last season.

This comment amused me the most, must've said it for effect as Rangnick managed a club v Man. United in the SF of champions league in 2011. Given Ronaldo's complete obsession with the competition he surely can recall that especially as Real Madrid were playing in the other SF that year. He was also club mate of Raul for a year or two who went on to play under Schalke under Rangnick so Ronaldo is certainly s***stirring on that one because he didn't rate the appointment.

I always wondered Ronaldo's motivations for actually coming back to Man. United. Did he genuinely just think, well they finished 2nd so me coming back and scoring the goals will win the league? The fact there was no release clause in the deal if you didn't make the top 4 or qualify for CL kind of indicates that I think.

He's more trouble than he's worth so you'll just release him/terminate his deal in January.
Yeah pretty much, he genuinely thought we were a few signings away from a title challenge, and at least push deep in the CL. On rangnick though, he probbly wasnt the only one who had to google him, so i wouldn't hold it against him if he completely forgot about that a decade ago

Strange time too do the interview. His time at the club is done for sure now which I think is ok for both him and the fans as it is obvious both parties did not want each other here.

If it is true they Ronaldo’s three year old child was in the hospital for some time (don’t see why he would lie about that) and if it’s true ETH did not show sympathy too him in his personal life I don’t blame him as a man for not respecting ETH.

Now I still think this interview should not have been released until after he was gone. I don’t get it.

Imagine being Dalot or Bruno now having to deal with him in the Portugal camp and being snapped in photos talking with him from the training ground. Even more divisive shit for the club. Overall hopefully overshadowed that people are getting behind Erik more now

It's sad if true but when you're doing a 90 minute interview with Piers Morgan for TalkTv and The Sun newspaper you sort of lose a lot of the benefit of the doubt.

So the date of the release is the only problem?

It's shocking that a Liverpool player will have better takes on this than our own legends.
Because he can look at it through an objective lens, and not one where he's scared of upsetting a mate. Besides I suspect Neville will almost certainly have the same take as this, he already said Utd's best team doesn't have Ronaldo in it, the stats show that, hence why Ronaldo blanked him. He's not going to support him over this, no chance.

Based on everything we've seen, how can it be true? Ronaldo was given all of pre-season off and we were told it was for "personal reasons". That doesn't tally with a "lack of sympathy".

He obviously talks exclusively to our idiot ex-players. His view will be totally skewed towards feeling persecuted.
True. In his mind he probably believes the fans think he should be starting every game and it's the manager that's wrong.

The best thing for everyone is if he accepts a pay-cut to leave in January if anyone wants him this time. I understand his points about the club not progressing since he was here before but surely he knew that before he re-signed for us.
And the bit about his daughter being ill in the summer, surely he could of said that at the time and explained to the fans why he was skipping pre-season if he really does respect the fans like he says

The majority of posters who are slating Ronaldo will come back to this thread in a year and say he was right all along. He shouldn't come out and say it but we all know there are still huge problems at the club. He was spot on about Ragnick last year (even though he shouldn't be speaking publicly)

Dude is talking 100% facts don’t know why people are so mad over hearing the truth.
So Ten Hag is not doing a good job then you're saying? And Ronaldo hasn't been piss poor this season?

If you're in the Portugal team do you want this stuff around going into the world cup ?

It will be raging on the whole world cup.

Exactly. He's coming out with this 4 months after preseason.

He was given the compassionate leave during pre season so did he want more time off, Ten Hag to visit him at home/hospital. Perhaps Ten Hag thought it was just a personal matter so wouldn't be wanting to hear details of his child's condition especially given what he went through in April?

That part needs more context.

If he doesn't respect the manager one of them has to leave. And the manager isn't going anywhere.

I dont care what he says. He has the right to. Some of it I agree with some not. But its the fkn timing and the platform he does it on. Why? Right at this point? After being sht all season. After walking off and refusing to be substituted? After been given another chance and been made captain and still being sht? In mid season just before the world cup just after a good win. Now you think its a good idea? His PR team need firing.
I agree with you.

He made his points. Some valid ones, some plain stupid. The timing of the interview is absolutely awful and my god, getting interviewed by Piers Morgan?
Had he done that after his retirement then sure fair enough. Alot of ex-footballers do that, voicing their views and opinions.
For example, Van der Vaart and Sneijder really put a foot in when asked about their ex-Dutch collegue Cillessen. Not nice, but it was a very interesting insight during their time in the Dutch national team.

I'm sure he won't ever play for us again. He called out Ten Hag and Ten Hag won't accept this behaviour and rightly so.
