I might be in a minority, but i wanted him when chelsea got him, and thought hed be very good for us when leipzig got him. Ive no real justification other than a gut feeling, I just think he'd do well at United.
I'm not really sure he'd be a revelation here, but I think his work rate and the style he is used to would work for us and he'd be a much better loan than Weghorst. Given we are scraping the barrel, I think it would be a good deal.

Exactly my position. We need somebody there, and I don't see a loan as a big risk.

Would rather spend 20m on Guirassy. I know for Timo it's a loan but 20m is not a very high number in today's market. Plus, we do seem sure Hojlung is our future striker so Guirassy would not be a bad option to have alongside for the next few years.

For us it's beginning to be with the waste we flush money away every single window.

Get anyone in on loan; it doesn't matter. So long as they're more or less a striker, recent history tells us they'll help us to a third place finish.

Why do they even want to loan him?
Because he is not a starter for them either. They tried the whole "return of the lost son" saga and had to realize that he just isn't all that anymore.

Honestly man, him signing would such a typical signing from us. He’s not even good enough for Leipzig. We’re Manchester United for God’s sake, we need standards.

Weghorst worked his socks off, but was a poor finisher. I don’t see any plus in signing Werner.
Weghorst was a bull in a china shop, constantly giving away petty fouls. His approach to pressing was basically to charge around and get booked.

Werner, from what I've seen while he was at Chelsea, genuinely knew how to press and was good at it.

What let him down was obviously his finishing, but in Ten Hag's set up he would do a job for the team at the very least.

If it's a loan then why not. He can't be much worse than what we're lumbered with now.

With the mess we have created with player sales and purchases I guess we are restricted to the bargain bin in January. I don't mind it either as the club have already given up on the season by continuing with ETH. I rather we use this window to move useless players on then have us concentrate on purchasing players who'll become deadwood in 6 months. Werner, as mediocre as he is, is a versatile attacker and could be an option if we are able to move Martial on. So, why not.

I’d much prefer we played our youth players than give time/spend money needlessly on players we know aren’t good enough.

We could give a player like Charlie McNeil or someone else 10 games between now and the end of the season, It would be far more beneficial to us as a club in the long run.

Timo Werner isn’t good enough to come in and help us qualify for Europe, and he wouldn’t be here next year to play in it if by some miracle we even did qualify, so what is the point?

On one hand you are right. On the other... Leipzig cruised through their CL group and came second without any trouble after Man City. United crashed out of a similar group as dead last. It's possible that (currently!) not being good enough for Leipzig would still mean an improvement for United. Surely not to the level you want and need. But still an improvement. Werner running his ass off while finishing badly surely can't be worse than lazy Rashford not hitting anything as well.

It would be typical of us to go around and bring in the softest German player around. He is pants and we should stay away.

Thought this was a wind up. We barely create chances as it is and this guy must have a 5% conversion rate

Hilariously bad at Chelsea

You're really reveling in this right now

As low as United are at the moment, we need better than Werner if we need a chance to get a top 4, if we want to stick to mid table or EL positions then Werner is fine.

On the other hand, Werner has shown exceptional quality at times in his career and if he's able to replicate that form then he'd be a star and potentially help us to a top 4 spot.

The last thing United need is yet another "guy who is not so good at his main job but does secondary things well."

Because he's shit?
So you’re telling me a guy who was shit in the EPL, went back to Germany to the club where he was most comfortable and was shit there too, but that hasn’t deterred United? :(

Problem is we are in the loan market and I'm struggling to think of better loans.

If he's the best loan we might as well just knock it on the head. Another Warthorse but very fast instead of very tall. Yawn.

Well we're also being linked to a 34 year old Eric Choupou-Moting... Not sure if that's meant to be a loan or actual buy though
I mean both of those signings improve us.

We need a goal scorer and werner is at least a body to throw in if need be since sancho isn't counted.

Think he could do a good job for us, especially on loan. As always though, will he get any service?
We gave him service at Chelsea and he missed them all thats why we had to go out and buy Lukaku.
