Behind closed door game and he's already giving us the fandango. Like what were you expecting man this man has not been playing for so long he forgot how the ball texture feels like, man.

I don’t get all the “he HAS to play” nonsense. Good young keeper. But if Heaton is there I’m taking him. Why is Bayindr being treated like he’s young De Gea. Hasn’t done anything to justify that kind of hype. This place really can go loopy sometimes.

Some just want to see if he exists.

He's still in the honeymoon phase as a new signing who hasn't played. It reminds me a bit of the van de Beek situation a couple of years ago. The longer he goes without a start, the more the mystique builds.

I think the reality will be that he just isn't very good, but I'm sure we'll have people demanding him to be first choice if he makes a couple of saves against Newport!

Going solely by that compilation of him (which was supposed to be positive), currently,
Heaton > Onana > Bayindir. Seems to have zero composure

I'd start Heaton against Newport. Would be the most sensible thing to do.

“Welcome to this BBC coverage of the FA cup clash between the minnows of Newport County and the fallen giant that is Manchester United. I’m Gary Linekar. You join us here at Rodney Parade where the headline is that Jonny Evans starts in goal for United. Buy my crisps….. “ :wenger:

Bizarre that he hasn't played already - I expected him to get some minutes in the League Cup at least

He is a Turkish international (not first choice perhaps but had a few starts for them) so can't be that bad

Maybe due to Onana being so hot and cold, Ten hag is desperately trying to play him into some kind of form, so he doesn't really have the luxury of swapping him out for the cup games atm

Ye it probably is something along those lines, plus with the constant injuries in defence Ten Hag needed to keep as much consistency as possible

The lack of rotation is really annoying but it's been a feature of every single one of our managers since Fergie (who was great at it)

I'd put it down to the sheer magnitude of pressure you're under as United manager, meaning you don't want to take any risks.

Unfortunately that means once the injuries pile up you've got no match fit, tested players to bring in - and in the meantime you've alienated half the dressing room who aren't getting any minutes.

One can't rule out the possibility of Onana leaving his NT behind and taking a private jet back to Newport County's ground and insisting on starting in the upcoming match. And worse, ETH agreeing to it.

Cameroon play Nigeria on Saturday evening and could well be out of AFCON. We play Newport on Sunday so if that’s the case then he almost certainly will return to England in the morning and will feature in our game.

It's classic RedCafe. As first team results fall off a cliff, the clamour to bring in players who have been frozen out or largely untried intensifies - forgetting the very obvious fact that the manager and coaching staff see these players every single day in training...so there's probably a very good reason they're not considered worthy of minutes.

Well, considering that DDG wasn't as bad as Onana has been, fair enough he was bullied alot but that comes with experience and coaching, he still got dropped for Lindergard.

It either says alot that this guy must be a fumbling idiot or again, ETH is trying his best to play another bad buy after Antony into decent form to show he didn't make a mistake.

Logistically it's near impossible for him to get to South Wales in time.

Nigeria Vs Cameroon is at 8. Earliest game will end is 10. Given post match stuff/ getting to the airport the earliest he could be on a flight would be something like 2/3am. Fly to London is 10 hours. Then he's got to get to Wales...

Or we all just want to see how truly terribly Bayindir must be!

I’m sure we can find a way to prevent this new goalkeeper we bought for £5m from playing any football.

What's wrong with wanting to see a player in action? Are we now buying players just to bench them throughout their contract? Let's see the man in action. Onana hasn't proven yet that he's irreplaceable.

Imagine he turns out better than we bought for £45m
I don't think he'd be able to prove that in this particular game anyway as I don't expect Newport to spend too much time in our half, though you never know with The Tactician.

McTominay in goal with licence to roam wherever he wants on the pitch
I've always felt that rush goalie is a underused tactic in professional football. I remember using it to great effect on the all-weather pitch in middle school

I’d go further and say the most sensible thing we could do is play Heaton as our number one keeper for the rest of the season, Onana is awful and Bayindir is seemingly some how worse.
