I'll be actively rooting for Nigeria's downfall
Speaking of downfalls, Ghana's your humiliation allowed Iñaki to go back home just in time to humiliate Barcelona, so. Silver linings

Why is it a stretch? I got curious and looked it up. Wikipedia says there is an official maritime frontier between the two countries, and a treaty signed in 2003.

Cape Verde has maritime boundarie/borders to the east with three countries: Senegal, Gambia, and Mauritania. Mauritania has terrestrial borders with Morocco (territory aka Western Sahara) and Algeria to the north, with Senegal to the south, and with Mali to the east and southeast, plus the aforementioned maritime one with Cape Verde

Thanks for the geography lesson but obviously there is hundreds of miles of ocean between the 2 so quite different to the others listed but ok I guess technically they do have a border.

I doubt they have any kind of sporting rivalry like most neighbouring countries but happy to be corrected.

I haven't watched much of the tournament so far, but Nigeria v Cameroon and Senegal v Ivory Coast look like two blockbusters in the Round of 16, especially if you look at some of the other matchups. I know they won't necessarily be given how the teams have played in this tournament of course, but nice to see that the "big" or traditional countries (correct me if I'm wrong though) aren't guaranteed a place in the QFs by default.

Going with the following for the QFs:
Nigeria vs Angola
Cabo Verde vs Morocco
Mali vs Senegal
Egypt vs Equitorial Guinea

Yes I suppose he's not totally useless
Jokes aside it's hilarious just how much of a dumb failure Rubiales was and how he and Luis Enrique managed to alienate Iñaki into playing for Ghana. Meanwhile Spain is having to call on Joselu. Probably part of the reason they locked in Nico as soon as they could

This Namibia kit is ace and the few lads who have the shirt tucked in look like they've been transported there directly from the 1994 World Cup.

That was a crazy 4 minutes. Don't think I've ever seen a team blow an advantage quite like that.

EtH truly is a clown. Even his country has dropped that bumbling idiot.

Onana on the bench, he got attributes to being a midfielder, not a keeper. Being “good with his feet” is irrelevant if he can’t stop shots made at him, that’s what matters the most in a goalkeeper.

How come Nigeria had that goal disallowed for offside when there's a defender on the goal line?

Not sure how Onana got dropped for this guy
Because he hasn't been dropped for this guy. He's been dropped because he's got issues with the manager.

Everyone can line up to dunk on Onana all they want, but no, he is in fact not a worse keeper than this dude who spent his best years in the Latvian league and is currently slumming it in the French version of League One.

There need to be 2 players between the attacker and the goal. The goalkeeper is usually behind, so everyone just says the defender is the last man.

The offside rule is not about the keeper but the last player.

In the case there’s a player on the line and the keeper further up in the box, then the player on the line becomes the last player. Any opposition between the last defender (the Cameroon keeper in this case) and the last player is offside

The defender on the line becomes the keeper and the keeper becomes the last defender. Nigeria had 2 players offside in that instance.

Iwobi does nothing for Nigeria in that midfield, just nervous on the ball.

Two big names with mediocre squads, Ivory Coast and Cameroon.

I’m just sat here daydreaming about Osimhen with Palmer, Nkunku and Enzo. If anyone can break the #9 curse it will be him.

What the feck was Nkoudou thinking trying to challenge the keeper for that.

Wasn't even in the right postcode to get to that ball.
