You can see how much he feels every goal he gets at the moment.
Hopefully it turns and we start actually crossing when through out wide more often.

He gets absolutely nothing from these wingers, and he's still done very well at 20 years of age in a new country. I'll judge him fully whenever we sign an actual winger or two that can provide service and not whatever is on the pitch right now.

Here we go, just as he was a victim of Ronaldo. Maybe he should play by himself if he’s not compatible with anyone.
Except that he's been compatible with lots of other players. Martial for example, and even Weghorst. That doesn't absolve him from all of the blame for his performances but it is a clear issue.

Few people want osimhen but he also would be starved of the ball. So many times the ball could be played to him but the wingers are utterly useless

He tries but we'll need a better striker if we're ever going to be successful again.

He doesn’t get a lot of chances but a lot of it is his own fault. He makes some really shit runs at times.

I predicted 10-15 goals before the start of the season, and that looks about right. Maybe in the lower end of that. Says more about where we are as a team, than it does about Højlund.

There were at least 3 in the first half. The choice of final ball from Garnacho and Antony is shocking.

Our players who are selfish and don't assist Hojlund should be dropped. Enough of this bullshit. We finally have a proper striker and this trash is how we treat him. Unbelievable

He's been a bit unlucky too, especially in the beginning of his time here. I'll wait for next season to see what he's really got.

I think that’s 3 goals in his last 4 starts? Starting to find his way to goal in English football.

You can see from his celebration that every goal means a lot to him as he’s clearly trying to build some momentum and he’s having to work quite hard for his goals at the moment.

He's clearly been bought as a project striker that we hope to make a lot better. He's only 20, has a good mentality, good workrate, and is miles away from the finished article. Time will tell if he and Garnacho get to the level we want them to be and it's always a risk but it's one we've taken before to varying degrees of success (Rooney and Ronaldo, Martial and Rashford)

Can say it reeks of arrogant, clueless wingers but it reeks even more of shit coaching and a poor system and poor instructions that the players dont understand or dont respect the manager enough to follow.

Lets hope with new manager he will learn runs as currently he is taking the wrong ones every time. Not sure if they are even doing something on the training ground as it is unbelievable that he is always blocking runs of the winger with the ball. First touch and passing absolutely awful, but I guess he can improve. If he is 20 minutes striker for us it would be excellent, unfortunately he is the only one we have.

More than his lack of goals, it’s his lack of technical ability that worries me the most going forward. He just doesn’t really excel in…anything? He’s fast, he puts himself about and works hard for 90 minutes. But there’s nothing about his ability that stands out as exceptional.

He is our team’s top goal scorer despite absolutely zero service. Doesn’t it say anything?

If he's fast, works hard and he adds goals I think that's enough.

Or at least it's probably the best you can hope for given how few No.9's there are.

But obviously the adding the goals bit is easier said than done. Especially in this team.

He's clearly a good player and he's 20. I think we've made a good decision to sign him, for once - there simply aren't that many number 9's around, and Rasmus has a football brain which for me is by far and away the most important thing. How often have we seen players fail at clubs - particularly our own - because they are utterly brainless? It's rare we get the exception, and hopefully with time and a bit more coaching we'll see something scary in the future with Rasmus and Garnacho in that three. Still a bit raw for now.

Posted pretty much exactly the same thing as you did. He really doesn't get the service, even tonight it was a bit mad how often he was ignored. Maybe next season with a few key signings or with more tactical impetus we'll see the real Hojlund, but he's a good player and that goal clearly meant a -lot- to him and I love that.

Chicharito had next to none technical ability, wasn't even very fast. But he was a poacher and he scored a lot of goals for us.

Hojlund has shown more qualities- dribbling, strength, shot power, movement. All this with tons of workrate and desire.

He'll be excellent player for us.

No idea why so many posters refuse to be supporters.

Personally I think he’s literally the least of our worries - he’s only 20, is currently our top scorer in all comps, is so passionate for our club and I don’t know what others are seeing, I think his runs are good! He’s often on side and ahead of defenders in the perfect position to receive a cut back, however our wingers are literally brain dead.

Nobody is saying we should be relying on him for goals at this early stage in his career but here he is, another victim of our poorly run club.

I’m really hoping INEOS continue to clear out and get best in class and then maybe players with promise like Rasmus can shine.

Incredibly frustrating to watch our wingers refuse to play him through on goal on numerous occasions tonight. I'm not saying he's perfect or even good enough to lead the line for us on his own yet, but we really need someone to teach our wingers to square the ball to him when we get in behind the defence.

Why are you mentioning Chicharito? Chicharito was just a squad player. Hojlund is supposed to be the main striker for the next 10 years.

I agree with the other parts. Hojlund will be fine. He is young and it is only his first season. He has enough time to develop into an excellent player.

What's with the need on here to knock some previous striker to big this guy up?

There's not a lot of data from his time with us, but even at West Ham Chicharito was better at everything than Højlund has been so far.

I'm not knocking Chicharito. I'm saying he has been great for us and Hojlund is more talented than him.
So why criticise so heavily a talented young player who is clearly our future?
Is it his fault that we don't have a senior striker?
Oh wait, we have Martial...
So it is Hojlund's fault we don't have a senior striker?

What in the absolute hell did you watch tonight, people making shit up in this thread is incredible.

Made multiple good runs tonight that everyone and there Nan could see was an easy pass and nobody made the pass cause the wingers are braindead. Blocking runs of wingers???

First touch and passing absolutely awful yet setup multiple attacks and should have had a couple of assists tonight, he was probably our best player in linking at the front. He created more xG for the team than anyone else I believe

Of course he can improve, and yet he’s our top scorer in all competitions? Maybe if Hojlund is so trash as you allude to that says something about how trash the rest of the team is

Promising that he’s started to find the next but looking back on those 3 goals he’s scored - Not a single one of them came from an assist / someone creating a chance for him - still feeding off scraps (Wigan game aside)

Do you actually have any time for young players? Do you actually think young players improve? Just seems to me I see you in every thread with our young players screaming daddy want now.

Remember at the end of last season, when everyone was trying to tee up Weghorst to help break his league duck? We need to literally do that for Hojlund, it seems.

He's doing as well as expected. A few more league goals would obviously be nice, but if he can get to 15 in all comps by the end of the season that's a good return for a 20 year old. A competent manager will get a lot more out of him.
