I don’t think Bruno can ever be accused of not playing the pass if it’s on. Certainly not the main culprit. If Hojlund is even neary available, Bruno will look for him for sure.

In the early part of the season there were occasions with the wide men, but the lack of service was mainly a collective issue. Poor full back combinations, poor midfield units and generally an in-cohesive team. We simply were not ready to start the season when it started. The team wasn’t formed, and we had to figure a lot out over the first few months, especially with injuries. We were always going to have a better second half provided we maintained belief. First half was not a true reflection, we were far better last season.
The simple fact is that Bruno is inconsistent with his weight of pass..so many times he over or underhits a pass and that is with his better foot.
His left foot is an absolute lottery!

We do nothing but spam through balls over the top. We can’t play that ball every time he makes a run and it’s very hard to play that ball in modern football with the keepers so far off their line.
Ten Hag alluded to this on his post match. He complained about how our attackers would try and go for the throat every time they were on the counter which led Villa constantly winning the ball back with 3/4 of our players caught upfield. He wants us to counter but not be silly and build from higher up the pitch.
People said the same about Haaland and City. That never changed and there isn’t a problem.
That was interesting and I think he's bemoaned that trait twice now.
Which suggests Bruno and sometimes Casemiro's constant attempts to spam one time balls straight through to the strikers is not a management directive. On the other hand, EtH's quote of the 'best transition team in the world' suggests they are trying to follow instructions, but perhaps implementing it too extremely?
Surely constantly ignoring the manager's instructions should result in being benched.

Simple ”fact”.

Bruno has one of the best weights of pass I’ve ever seen from a footballer, if there’s one thing he truly excels at, it is that.

The moments that stood out from Bruno have been when we’ve been playing well since the turn of the year.

Indeed, but in his defence, everyone has improved since then, and everyone was below par in the early months.

As I said, the team hadn’t formed to a good enough point to compete in the early months. These things aren’t always linear. The key is that the best teams have always been able to pick up points while they are still finding themselves - usually down to having stand out individuals. We had key injuries for the first few months, and then the central striker in the team hadn’t got going yet, so we were really behind where we should have been, and the match winning quality wasn’t there to win along the way.

I’m confident that, injuries permitting, we will be in title-challenging form in the second half of the season and be in contention to win the second half of the season on points, because I think that is a more accurate reflection of where this team is in the context of the other 19. This is an average Liverpool side leading the title race, and a weaker City side being tipped to sweep everything. Arsenal are similar level to last season, but I think we can match those teams with all of our players.

My counter to your point is that it’s exactly when the team is playing well and in a system that you notice more clearly the players who limit that system. Either by being not good enough or not suitable to it. When the team is playing badly and without a system everything looks crap.

Examples I’ll give are City or Barcelona (under Pep) they’ve had some great players who stood out for not fitting the system. At Barca you don’t get any better than B Ronaldinho & Ibra.

It’s like a system = all the parts of a jigsaw to be in place to present the picture. So the closer you get to having a perfect system the more the wrong parts stand out.

Wow

Christ. You probably wouldn't even be able to see the white of the pitch in the attacking third on the equivalent chart for Haaland/Nunez/whoever Arsenal stick up front these days.

His hold up play was fantastic today. He’s really coming along, can’t wait to see how he is next season.

Almost a complete centre forward performance. Two great goals, a bit poor in the buildup for Luton's goal and could have had another goal in the second half. Not everything came off in terms of his hold up play but I would say 6 or 7 out of 10 did the correct things.

Again though, another game with criminal lack of service. One goal came off a mistake and the other a shot from Garnacho. He got the ball more than usual but it was still like 4 times out of 10 at best.

he always seemed to be the only play on the field with the dirtiest jersey on. Love his commitment but he wont be able to last a full 90 the way he is playing.

Him, Mainoo, and Garnacho are the bright spots for me. I expected around 10 goals from him in the Premier League this season and that is coming along nicely. Could easily go beyond that now, which would be fantastic.

His best performance for us I think. Two good finishes and hold up play was excellent in the second half.

Got 13 goals so far, and some people over here were saying he would only got 10 for an entire season

If he continues with this rythm, he will surely get at least 20 this season. That would be pretty good considering his age and that he is new to the PL.

We did good by signing him when we did. If we waited 1-2 years he would have costed north of 100 million.

The guy is a beast. A beast who loves United. Can’t help but love him. Gonna have to break the news to my wife
I haven't actually registered my daughter yet, could try and convince my wife Rasmus is androgynous enough to pass.

Great goalscoring form and plenty of good contributions in buildup play where he takes the ball with his back to goal and is able to hold off the pressure then turn and find teammates to aid in our counter moves

His hold up has improved since the start of the season. Now that he is scoring, it’s all clicking for him.

Well done Hojlund. Took the first goal well and was unlucky not to get the hat trick, I think their keeper made a good save.

Only small criticism is that when the ball goes long to him, he often does well to get his body in front of the defender but then can be a bit clumsy. Still very good performance.

Need an all touches compilation from one of the twitter nerds. That was a great performance from him on a day where everyone around him was atrocious
