No one was able to meet the price because the 'avid United fans' were asking for silly money. The 'avid United fans' saddled United with debt, they left OT to rot, they mismanaged the club and yet somehow SJR's attacks are addressed on jassim not them.
I don’t know how much you know about a minority investor coming into a club but he sure as hell can’t start criticising the glazers in his 1st interview.

Man it’s
What an impressive interview, this is the man we have to put our level of trust in. He’s right in what he’s said that the glazers run the commercial side really well etc etc, but I like the approach he seems to offer to the club. Clearly wants a new stadium and that will be released next week by the sound of it, it’s really exciting and he’ll sort Dan Ashworth thing out as like he says it makes no sense for him to do nothing for a year. I’d much rather have a ten million pound signing from a random country come good than 80 million known quantity. He didn’t talk about ten haag I think if he fails to get top 4 he’s gone. But overall super impressed, it’ll be a tough few years but I expect big change in relation to all aspects of Man Utd

Why is this being termed a takeover? Ineos doesn’t own a majority of the shares. Is it even the largest shareholder?

I believe he has the single biggest sharehold but not more than the glazers if you combine them? I could be wrong
It's pretty complicated, he's the largest single shareholder and also the largest single % of the voting power of said shares (I think, once fully invested it's ~30%) with the largest of the Glazer's being around 18-25%, so in order to get a majority on any shareholder level decision he'll need to get the consent of one or more Glazer to get something passed. But he seems to be of the opinon that he's got them all onside enough that there won't be any need to just squeak by with a 51% vote at this time.

Isn’t it just great to listen to somebody who can actually make a massive difference to our club not just on field but off field. His plans are exciting.

You think about the limits of the Glazers, finish top 4 and sell advertising, it’s no wonder the club has fallen into misery on and off it. United needs a complete overhaul of its infrastructure and the glazers can’t afford it, as much down to how Joel/Avram allowed the wastage of 1.5 billion in transfers.

Whatever happens this season doesn’t really matter to me in the long run. Yes, it would be great to get top 4 (5th spot for CL is looking dodgy for England at moment) but regardless I think we are in good hands, far better hands at the very least. Come on Sir Jim….

A well-heeled interview and plenty of grand announcements, but with the major sticking point of Mason Greenwood's possible return.

As with anything, the proof is in the pudding.

He kind of did though when talking about why so many managers have failed over the last 10 years.

Good interview. He's obviously not a silly man but we all knew that anyway. Like most Chelsea fans he's a smart one.

Wonder who he supported in the 2008 final, do you think he had a reversible kit on?

Absolutely this.

And yes been impressed with Sir Jim, it's just PR noise so far but it's all the right noises. A huge change from the lack of communication from the previous regime.

And although the Qatari full sale was my preference, I always said I'd gladly take the INEOS minority deal over no change at all.
Pretty much my feelings on this as well.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
So do they now tell the manager what style they want to play and the manager has to play that style or he’s out?
Basically, yes.

I'm sure they don't expect miracles and for us to turn around and play possession based football (if that's what they want) immediately with our current players. But they will recruit players suited to play how they want to play, and expect the manager to (over time) train the team into playing the style that they want. Any future managers will then be recruited based on showing the ability to play a similar style at previous clubs.

Also, I do think some people exaggerate how specific that 'style' will be. They aren't going to give the manager the exact blueprint of how everything has to be. It'll be a much more general instruction, and it'll be up to the manager to put his spin on it to make it all work how he wants.

The dreaded half and half scalf.
I don't get it for most part but there's times its apt.

Eg if we drew whitehawk fc in the fa cup. That's a big event for the club and there fans would want a simple souvenir for a fixture they could only dream of.

It's the United city/Liverpool /arsenal /etc half and half's I don't get

What I like about Jim is that all he's spoken about is the team performance on the pitch, and nothing about commercial stuff, as he realises that if the on pitch stuff is good, the commercial stuff will follow on.

Wasn’t our DNA counter attacking football? Or that’s what we was known for under Fergie, I think since peps come he’s changed the way football is played. With his possession based style… it’s good for teams to have more than 1 style of playing… Solskjær tries to get us to play a more possession based style but he struggled to break teams down and our best football was still played using counter attacking. If we want to move to a possession based style then we need new wingers and technical midfielders and defenders. Players like Rashford have always been best at countering.

Not at the moment but Jimmy has only been at Man United for about 5 minutes and has not had a chance to do anything yet.

Maybe I'll wish Sir Jim got his first choice and took over Chelsea but not yet.
Actually he did... Nice in 2019.

Not the best 24 hours for the other bidders. Jassim gets accused of not existing and now INTERPOL have issued an arrest warrant for Thomas Zilliacus!

He said in the interview that he doesn't care about that anyway, he wants performance and to win titles he stated 'we make enough money in chemicals, gas and oil' this is his passion project if anything.

Smart enough like other ‘Chelsea fans’ to know that United are the superior team and attach themselves to our fan group/forums to bask in the reflected glow of our brilliance. :wenger::D

Not sure it was his first choice, simply an opportunity that was presented to invest in a PL club. In hindsight I think he’ll likely be glad he didn’t go all in on Chelsea as the United opportunity became available afterwards.
