Anyway, I just wanted to say I loaded up star wars fallen order on my old PS4 today for my kids to play and the load times are absolutely hideous. It is amazing what a big leap PS4 to ps5 was for load times, don't think I could go back.

Been giving Ghost of Tsushima another go after slagging it off for ages. I’m about 20 hours in and definitely enjoying it more on the PS5 in 60 fps. The combat is honestly some of the very best in the genre and the world is absolutely beautiful at times. That being said I still think some of my criticism is accurate, Jin is one of the most bland characters I’ve played. The story isn’t brilliant either at this stage and there’s soo much unnecessary filler. Kind of expecting I’ll put it down at some stage but I’d like to finish it!

It's beautiful on PS5. Apparently 2 is going to be announced this year.

Yeh I remember it looking good on PS4 but it does look another level on the 5. It doesn’t have the level of detail compared to RDR2 but in terms of cinematic shots it might be the best in the business. I’d definitely be excited for a second game but I’d hope they have learnt some lessons from number one.

Not just load times. It runs like absolute crap - the only game I played in the entire PS4 generation that had such major framedrops.

How are people liking Helldivers II? I've bought it two weeks ago and played four times with mates. We're playing medium difficulty, which is actually a little easy and non challenging to complete missions and clear maps.

I like it, but it does feel a little pointless. That could also be, because I'm still really getting to know the game. I still don't fully understand the galaxy map, how I can really grasp what is happening in the world as a whole and how our actions contribute to the bigger goal of the game. The stratagems are a really cool touch, but some stratagems as the guard dog do so much of the work, which makes me feel like a bit of passenger. Guess that sums up my overall experience so far. That having said, the gameplay is also fun and addictive, so will be playing this for quite some time.

Play the higher difficulties. It is absolute madness.

I really like it, got the plat a week or two ago and usually play with a squad of people I know.

You are basically trying to spread democracy across the galaxy so any victory will tick up the % liberated of a planet. There are daily personal challenges and also overall objectives. For example the automatons had a planet where super earth builds mechs, once we liberated the planet we could then use mechs (if you are over level 25). I would imagine similar stuff will happen in the future with new machines and stratagems.

It's a simply game with a basic gameplay loop, it just depends on whether you find that fun, but before you decide I would certainly try and get to level 20 to unlock most things and try harder levels because medium can be played solo.

I'm probably around the same time in and loving it. Never played it on PS4 so this PS5 upgraded version is my first impression. Game is gorgeous, combat is fun. I don't mind the story but I think I'm going to set side content to the...side...for a minute and go through some main story missions and see if the narrative grabs me more than it has thus far.

I just want more screen time for the main Mongol villain character... that guy is exceptionally well written so far imo.

I agree he’s really one of the few good characters in the game. I get that in the samurai lore, the characters are supposed to be in control of their emotions but Jin and his uncle could at least show something.

Jin bores me as well, the only remotely interesting thing I've seen from him thus far is a couple minutes hesitation about assassinating enemies because it's dishonourable...but now I've stabbed about a thousand from behind with no issue.

Absolutely spot on when it comes to the main character. He was the main issue

Anyone else gonna get Dragons Dogma 2? I feel like DD1 was one of the most underrated games on the ps4 I absolutely loved it. It looks like they have just doubled down with all the best best parts of the first game.

It looks great. Going to wait though as rebirth is going to take up all my time...normal mode is already huge and then I'll have to tackle hard mode!

I'm definitely going to play it at some point, was a huge fan of Dragon's Dogma, despite playing it 10 years late. I hope it won't take me 10 years this time, but with the state of my backlog...

It looks great. More of the same, but I doubt anyone who loved the first game will be disappointed by that. Performance is another matter though, it looks pretty rough, so let's hope they plan to improve it. I'm curious to see what the reviews will have to say about that.

I need to look into it a bit more, but I find myself waiting for games to go on sale, goto the catalogue, or be the free monthly game more and more often these days. Rarely feel the need to get stuff on or near release anymore.

Yeh I am planning to pick it up around launch but will watch a couple of reviews before I do just to make sure the performance on the PS5 is okay. I’m hopeful that some of the reported issues are down to early preview builds.

I largely agree and I haven’t bought a full priced game in ages, but I think for me DD scratches an itch for an open world RPG in that genre when there hasn’t been a new one in quite awhile. If you haven’t played the first game, the combat is some of the most fun out there. The amount of unbelievable and unique moments I had scaling the monsters puts it high on my list. What I like the sound of this time around is the possibility of more emergent gameplay in the open world. Greater variety of side content and random chance events. The first game was great but it did feel like all the enemies were just statically places in the world so I’m hoping they have improved a little on that front.

Rise of the Ronin is getting mixed previews. Can’t say I’m surp - it never looked very impressive in the trailers either.

Did you not spell surprised fully by mistake or did you actually do that to save time on purp?

Anyone purchased a Portal? I like the idea of playing FC24 (career mode) and catching up on my backlog away from my TV set up.

Although, I’m concerned my wifi may not provide a good experience.
I’ve had it for a week or so. It’s great. Warning internet needs to be good. I had to work on making my internet great to perfect my portal experience, that was mainly by hardwiring my PS5. Also created a 5ghz setting on my internet for my portal to connect to.

Playing FC24 now (offline) and it’s working like a dream.

from the specs it looks like the Pro will be targeting higher resolutions rather than improved frame rates, which is a bit disappointing.

As you'd expect, the specs show a boost to the PS5 Pro's system memory and GPU. The machine's CPU remains identical to the base PS5, but now boasts a 'High CPU Frequency Mode' which is said to add a 10 percent speed increase, albeit with a slight one percent reduction to GPU performance.

The Pro will be a bit cheaper than the entry price for the original, right? Isn’t that the standard? When it arrives, is that a good time to buy a Pro then, or rather a legacy model at a lower price?

I'd expect it to be a bit more expensive. I think the PS4 Pro, at launch, was $100 more than the base PS4 was at it's launch.

Also it's 2024 in gaming. Nothing gets cheaper.

My PS5 is the console I've used the least of all the consoles I've ever owned, so not interested in Pro at all. I do think it makes sense for them to release these mid-generation updates, something Nintendo should have done with Switch (which is actually the console I've used the most of all the consoles I've ever owned, maybe PS3 being close) but did not. Advancements in technology over 4 years are not enough to warrant a completely new generation but sufficient to justify an upgrade.

I stopped using PS5 after doing the initial game that was GoWR but I think the catalog now is really solid, with the PS5 versions of previous also being good value. It took a while for the catalog to get going but I have a great backlog now.

I might think of trading it for the pro next year once mine is around two years old and if there's significant upgrade in experience. For now I'm using it enough to justify maximising the performance if the upgrade is significant.

They should have an enticing trade scheme for those who own the base version.

PS Plus library has got so good that I sometimes want to boot the console up to play, but it's basically pointless if you don't have 2-3 hours spare, and I am usually only able to play in short 15-20 minute bursts. Switch/3DS are perfect for that, modern day big consoles are not, you really need a lot of time.

Yeah I totally understand that and was similar for me a while back. In that situation you probably don't need to worry about the next update on the console.

That’s true. For me the PS5 has been fantastic, especially due to the controller - big fan of that piece of hardware, it really elevates the immersion.

Is there Anyone else that can't play any games online?

I'm online, I can connect to the actual game servers but when I try start a match (fifa + mw3) I get an error.

My ps+ just renewed recently for a year so it's not that and I've tried the old turn WiFi on/off.

Playstation network was experiencing issues.
