Perfect PR spin to get positive vibes on Potter?

In any case, in disbelief with other, I cannot see the new management and executives NOT going for their own head coach.

I just read that Southgate is tipped to be first choice if ETH is shown the boot and honestly I’d rather be managed by Jamie Carragher than let Southgate anywhere near the managers office.

Why would you carefully bring in all these expert back office types to then finish off the project with the most uninspiring manager to ever walk the face of the earth. It would be like painting everything in grey. Grey carpet, grey walls, grey furniture, grey everything. Just no…. Groups need to get on Twitter and make it known nobody wants him near United.
We'd get those old 95/96 grey kits updated and worn to complete the look.
Sure Southgate is a nice guy but that might be the problem, I don't see him focusing and excelling at any particular strategy or issue.

He seems OK at most things but I don't think OK is going to cut it here, he'll be expected to demonstrate genuine world class management and coaching.

Surely they had something a little bit more substance to say than just that?

Like maybe questioning why would United would try and bring in a new manager who wont be able to start work until August... or why they would ignore all the club managers available.

It's happening isnt it?
No. That pair are pretty much clueless when it comes to management. In what world is Southgate a good choice for a team with PL and CL winning ambitions?

He's been pretty rubbish at club level and International management shouldn't even be considered, not that you'd really say he got more of the players available to him than would be expected given the talent levels.

Nobody reputable is pushing this story as far as I'm aware and we may as well pack it in if we appoint the likes of Southgate.

The alternatives are enough to make you want to keep ETH

Would people be more willing to accept Southgate if he won the euros in the summer?

Nope.

Unless he wins it blowing good teams away with expansive, aggressive football

Kane, Saka, Foden, Bellingham, Rice all in peak form but we all know the only way England run deep in this tournament is via a lucky draw, low scoring draws, and penalty shoot outs

Do we not have poll for who would want southgate as our next manager? I know the results would be obvious but we should still have one as this forum is surely tracked by united.

Red Card for Casemiro!
I'd much rather keep ETH.

All this expertise brought in, and the best you can go for is Southgate, really? That'll teach us to think things get better after the takeover.

If it’s Southgate then Ineos will destroy any goodwill from those who were wary to start with but giving them the benefit of doubt. Talk about ruining your honeymoon before it’s even began.

You should probably watch this to see how the discussion went. No one was speaking with any kind of authority:

(starts at the beginning of the topic)

Still makes me question the common sense of these so called pundits.

No, there's literally nothing that vindicates him. With that squad being rivalled only by France (even then I rank England's higher), it should at least get to the final, or win.

In one of the transfer tweets Potter was described as "a cheaper alternative to Southgate". Must be one of the best unintentional insults ever.

If they hired Southgate, I'd lose all hope for the upcoming years.
Yeah me too, but I said before I hold very little hope that we will change much under new ownership and leadership. I just expect us to remain as clueless as we have been for the last decade and this would be exactly the type of appointment to support that notion.

What are you forming this opinion on? Everything they have actually done so far has been positive. Too many pessimistic Peters on this forum.

Everton had Ancelotti as manager. And you're telling me.... we're here with the best football executives, with new ownership and all that, only to end up hiring Southgate? I'm not buying it. It looks like PR to make sure he has a decent job secured after England.

Our new directors are sooo good that they come up with names that sound ridiculously bad to us fans but are actually brilliant. Wait and see.

Nope, we are fecked big time.

Just when I thought the worst is over, we will be back to the square one if we appoint Southgate.

If Southgate is the best SJR and his team can think off I rather stick with ETH. Mind you I wanted him out long ago.

We should be going for the best in class and modern manager like Alonso, Inzaghi, and etc.
If he is the best this new regime can do, anything else after that doesn't really matter. I'd delete my account from here and pull the plug on football.

I want Ten Hag gone in the summer, but I'd make him God Emperor of Manchester United if the alternatives are Graham Potter and Gareth fecking Southgate.

Yep, if this is their idea of 'best foot forward' we're better off amputating the head.

I do hope the Southgate rumours are just a way of putting a rocket up both Ten Hags AND the players asses til the end of the season!
Can’t see Ten Hag wanting the sack OR the players wanting Southgate.
Never mind any fan with sound mind
