Agreed, It's been our main problem. We haven't been able to get the balance right in midfield to adequately control a game against top opposition. Rice is a world class defensive 6 but can't break the lines in midfield with his forward passing. Gallagher/Hendo/Phillips are quite average in possession as well and Bellingham finds himself isolated way too much in games where Kane isn't dropping deep to link up play.
It's why I've been saying for a while that Mainoo needs to start for England, not that we'd suddenly become prime Spain but we'd look better imo.
