Liverpool have the look of us just before Fergie left, they'll convince themselves otherwise but I can see alot of years in the wilderness to come for them.
I can’t see it. The Klopp factor is big, but like when Fergie left the winning mentality is there but the Klopp motivation will go, difference is that Klopp has rebuilt the midfield and that the squad are young and haven’t reached their peak yet.

I just don't think the sqaud is all that, good chance they lose VVD and Salah this summer too,.

Who is they?
Arsenal I assume, with us and Spurs away, plus Chelsea in there too?
Liverpool, bar unexpected madness surely only have another couple of games they could slip in.

This was a huge round of the league though, as Arsenal and City both came back superbly in aways they could have found tricky, and have before.
Yes as it was in reference to your post about “putting it in Arsenal’s hands”.
I guess Liverpool have the disadvantage of playing Thursday nights and Sundays though, if that’s a thing nowadays?
Spurs and Villa will potentially decide the title race, it’ll be interesting considering they’re both frantically vying for that top 4 spot and spurs have no European fixtures and therefore rested legs etc.

Why does it feel like what Liverpool did in the 90s raising their game against big teams. Is that what we are now???
We haven't raised anything. Liverpool are lucky to be where they are in the league and they're the only top 3 team we've taken points off. If we beat Arsenal or win the FA cup final against City then we can talk. At the moment we're not even 90s Liverpool.

You know, to get the Caciedo pass then today from Quansah in back to back games and win neither is quite something.

Salah going will be massive for them.

He was on the periphery today but his goals and assist ratio season in season out is simply outstanding.

Nunez just isn't good enough in the big games at actually finishing off chances and staying onside. Gakpo is more West Ham/Fulham standard and Diaz is decent but wastes so much on the counter attack sometimes.

As someone said in the general football thread Jota is their best finisher after Salah but usually has one long term injury a season.

That's a big decision for the returning Michael Edwards and the next coach as to how to replace Salah effectively as just crossing fingers on Nunez won't cut it imo.

How did Casemiro play the entire game? He’s lost the last 2-3 gears in his transmission, AND he should have been sent off at the end. Any chance we get of losing his wages this summer, take it and run!

We conceded on a corner and a correctly called pen. We scored on a lob from midfield and a wonder goal. The result was fair. Liverpool are the better side, but the takeaway from this match is that when we give a shit we can produce a result.

Improved second half and the players did a good job getting a draw. Would’ve loved the win but we always seem to concede later in games. Happy with the draw, though, everyone seemed terrified before so a 2-2 draw is a fairly decent outcome. And all of us will hope they lose the league by a point or two now!

Top 4 isn't a thing this year as we'll get 5 spaces.

Europe will have an impact, but not for Liverpool, as they'll be able to drill past the Europa sh!te with heavily rotated outfits.

Another pathetic basketball match of a performance where we got lucky to be bailed out by a scouse mistake and a worldie by one of our academy grads.

Our fraud of a manager again kept Marcus Deadwood on the pitch for the full game, put on Mason the Useless and refused to play the player who won us the game against the scousers in the same fixture two weeks ago.

Not to mention leaving Bruno 'headless chicken' Fernandes on the pitch when we need control and playing Aaron 'I like to break dance instead of using my brain to defend' wan Bissaka on the fecking left yet again when it's obviously a dumb idea.

Rashford went off injured after 60 mins. Good to see you were paying attention.

All the same, it makes no difference as the guy is at most a net neutral when 'playing' for us.

Did he really say that? I thought our senior players were the ones letting us down. Casemiro and Bruno were terrible with their passing and positioning. If he has to blame anyone, blame himself for this set up that he's gone with this season. I've always been behind a high press tactic, but push that defensive line up as well ffs.
He did, yeah. Specifically with regard to the first goal, and also with regard to the previous two games. I agree, it doesn't make much sense. Although to be fair, Mainoo or Kambwala were probably the most obvious candidates to mark Diaz on the first goal.

Agree with this. He's really a liability at this point. At least as a #6, he's still doing some good passing though.

That was a bit more than "a lob from midfield". It wasn't even a lob. In fact, that was every bit as much a wonder goal as Mainoo's.

Mainoo what a player. Reminds me of Dutch CM’s from the 70-90s. So much variety and such a diverse skill set. 6, 8, 10 all combined into one.

I was sat bang on half way today, and honestly Liverpool were as wide open as we were for most of the game. If only we had intelligent footballers throughout the team who could look up and think a second or two quicker, we’d have been in time and again. Just too slow at times. Willy was immense. AWB awful.

Pathetic.
Really his not wrong about the unwillingness to sub off or drop certain players and give others a chance. I don’t agree about Mount, but do about not bringing on Amad or the refusal to sub Bruno / Rashford. We drew today against expectations. But when we lose it’s the same things people and then “pathetic” is not the reply

It’s probably been said before but Mainoo reminds me a little of Seedorf with his technique and versatility, like you mentioned. If Mainoo has even a tenth of a career as the Dutchman, he’ll have had been a very, very good player.

It’s possible to be happy with the result but still point out the obvious persistent flaws in the manager’s game management and certain players form or way of playing.

Indeed and his most likely not even close to his full potential yet.

We didn't raise our game at all really, they should have been a few goals up at halftime and gifted us a way back into the game with that error.

The choice of subs annoys me. It always changes the shape of the team, weakens our attack without really bolstering the defence.
Amrabat for Garnacho should’ve been Amad
Casemiro off instead of Mainoo for either Amrabat or Mount.
I did agree with Anthony for Rashford but then again I wouldn’t have played Rashford at all after his recent performances.

Ok, I can play semantics games too wondering whether or not it was a lob from midfield, but tell me this -- do you deny that it was an open net goal?

It was a great goal, but a great goal off a horror mistake by the defender and the keeper. The Mainoo goal was a wonder goal in every conceivable respect. No keeper mistake and the defender, rather than committing a grotesque mistake, was simply beaten by brilliance by Mainoo.

Why did AWB go to ground in that situation,Elliot wouldn't have then gone over and initiated contact to get the penalty. So annoyed after getting in front we just gift them an equaliser
